The Broken Halo-Chapter 163: I’ll Go Next
Although Simon and the others could not see the faces of Instructor Valdin and the rest, they could see how excited these adults were.
Taking the sixth dose and not having any changes to her body meant that Sunless had an A grade shadow affinity.
An A grade affinity is an extremely rare affinity grade even for humans and demons.
Both in the demon realm and on earth, anybody with an A grade affinity would always be valued by any organization.
Even Simon knew just how valuable it was to have an A grade affinity.
’One would be able to learn skills and techniques of that element very easily. Any attack using that element would be higher than normal, and a lot of other things.’
’I struggled a lot to get an A grade affinity for the fire element in my past life, and I know just how high the difference between a B grade affinity and an A grade affinity is. Talk less of a S grade affinity which I never got in my past life.’
Simon’s eyes became slightly lowered as he was seemingly lost in his thoughts.
’First, it was Thorgan who most likely had a S grade affinity, and now this girl also has a S grade affinity.’
’It seems fate is trying to favour the Shadowgrave Clan... Maybe that’s why they wanted the Devourer’s blood essence.’
Simon did not need to watch Researcher Mahan inject Formula X into Sunless and wait for the result because his instincts told him that Sunless had a S grade shadow affinity.
And just as he expected, Researcher Mahan exclaimed with excitement.
"S grade affinity. She has a S grade affinity, precisely high S grade affinity."
Simon finally glanced at Sunless, and he raised a brow as he noticed that there was something different in her body.
Unlike before where there were no changes in her body, Sunless’ veins were now black, making it seem like she was poisoned.
Her fingers were clenched slightly in discomfort, Simon could also see that her neck had thick black veins.
However, despite all of these, she did not make a single sound.
Researcher Mahan was a professional and experienced, so he quickly controlled his excitement and called for one of the researchers.
"Give me Formula Y-VII quickly. We need to stabilize her condition."
One of the male researchers quickly handed over another syringe with the label-VII- on it.
What was inside this syringe looked like water. It was crystal clear, and not a single bit of impurity could be seen in it.
Researcher Mahan calmly stabbed the syringe into Sunless’ body, then the crystal clear liquid was injected into her blood stream.
A few seconds later, the darkness in her veins receded and her veins turned back to normal.
Researcher Mahan exhaled deeply, then he handed back the syringe to the male researcher.
"Good job, Sunless. You have a high S grade affinity and the clan would not spare its resources to take care of you."
Sunless looked down as the other researchers untied the thick belt around her chest, waist, wrists, and ankles.
After doing this, Sunless calmly placed her feet on the ground and got down from the bed.
She nodded at Researcher Mahan, then she walked back to her classmates. On her way to her classmates, Instructor Valdin stood in front of her and patted her shoulder.
"Good job, Sunless."
Sunless glanced at their class instructor, then she nodded without saying a single word.
Instructor Valdin said nothing else, then he stepped to the side, allowing her to walk towards her classmates.
The gazes from her classmates were filled with surprise, shock, disbelief, awe, jealousy, and a lot more.
Simon merely glanced at her and was about to look away, but she suddenly glanced his way, catching him off guard.
However, she only looked at him for two seconds before taking her gaze away.
Simon narrowed his eyes.
’Could she be dumb? She can’t speak?’
He could not help but wonder since he had never heard her speak before.
"Alright. Who’s next?"
Three seconds before one of his classmates eagerly raised their hand after Researcher Mahan’s words.
Simon had no idea who this classmate of his was, but he watched as the boy eagerly walked to the bed and lay on it.
Researcher said a few words of encouragement and advice to him, then he was strapped tightly to the bed.
The female researcher brought a new black box containing seven dosages of Formula X, then Researcher Mahan took the syringe labelled-I.
"First dosage."
Researcher Mahan injected the syringe into the boy’s arm, and there was no reaction for six seconds until...
Twitch
The boy’s fingers twitched, and a few seconds later, his shoulders jumped.
Black veins began appearing around his injected arm up to his neck, and his legs moved to the side.
He clenched his hands, holding the railings of the bed tightly, and in the next moment, he screamed.
"Argghhh!!!"
He tried trashing around, but the belt held him down tightly, making Simon and the rest to realize why the belts were there.
The boy’s entire veins were black, and he screamed and thrashed around wildly.
"Bring Formula Y-I"
The male researcher quickly handed over the syringe to Researcher Mahan, then he calmly injected Formula Y-I into the boy’s blood stream.
The boy instantly calmed down, and he stopped thrashing around and screaming. His head fell to side, and he went unconscious.
Sigh
Researcher Mahan released a sigh, then he waved his hand.
"Take him away and ensure there’s nothing wrong with him."
The two other researchers quickly removed him from the bed and took him outside the room.
Researcher Mahan turned and looked at Simon and the others.
"Unfortunately, he has zero affinity for the shadow element which is why his body reacted that way."
"It’s a shame. Because of Sunless, I was expecting more. Anyway, who’s next."
None stepped forward this time around due to what they just saw.
Because of Sunless, they all thought the process was painless and simple. But now, they knew that it was because Sunless had a very high affinity which was why it was painless to her.
Researcher Mahan frowned and was about to speak, but Simon calmly stepped forward.
"I’ll go next."
