The Broken Halo-Chapter 215: I See
Simon was not the only person in the class to exclaim in disbelief and shock the moment the two hundred feet cliff wall was seen.
Simon could not believe what he was seeing, and he could not help but wonder if the clan was actually a sadistic clan, because there should be no reason why they would make their first class this difficult.
The wall was now a lot smoother, and at a glance, it looked like none of them could see what to use to climb.
Even Simon was dumbfounded for a moment, till he saw small holes that could at most three fingers, sharp and sturdy stones protruding out of the cliff, and extremely tiny ledges that probably only moutain goats could comfortably walk on and climb.
’This is pure madness.’ Simon could not help but have this thought.
’First it was that crazy Instructor Emith. This time around, the Instructor seems sane, but the course is absolutely insane. What do you mean I have to climb this?’
Simon looked around, then he saw Instructor Sormon walk up to them after the last Initiate got to her platform, then he spoke, his voice loud enough for everybody to hear.
"As you can see, the wall after the hundred feet mark is more difficult to climb. For every one hundred feet mark, there would be changes in the wall and you’ll have to adapt to those changes till you reach the top."
The expressions of Simon and every single member of the class changed, and one could not help but complain with visible anger in his voice.
"But we’re just beginners. Should it be this difficult for us?!"
"Exactly! Look at this wall, it’s so smooth. Do you expect me to use one finger or two fingers to climb one hundred fucking feet?!"
"If you want us to die, just say so!"
About seven Initiates complained, and Instructor Sormon’s did not say a word and his gaze remained the same... indifferent.
Two minutes later, one shouted.
"If this is how it’s going to be, I’m not climbing anymore! You cannot tell me to risk my life for this! I came here to learn how to be an elite assassin, why the fuck am I learning how to climb a useless wall?!"
Two more echoed their disapproval of the clan’s teaching methods, and these two were victims of Instructor Emith.
They also wanted to quit climbing.
Throughout all of these, Instructor Sormon remained quiet, then he released an annoyed sigh.
Every single student heard the sigh, and they went silent.
"If you want to quit, then you can quit. Just make sure you survive on your way down."
The three Initiates who wanted to quit were baffled.
"Survive?"
"Going down is going to be easy since the wall is rough."
"Exactly. Why would you sa- YYYYYAAAARRRGGHHHHH!!!!"
In the blink of an eye, the floating platforms they were sitting on vanished and they instantly fell.
Their screams travelled far and wide, and many perceptive members of the clan glanced in the direction of the scream.
Those who were familiar with such screams sighed with a reminiscent gaze.
"Good times." They said.
Meanwhile, Simon, Sunless, and the rest were stunned the moment they saw this.
Those who were complaining became quiet, and Instructor Sormon clicked his tongue in annoyance as he looked down.
"I wonder if they died."
Some felt a chill at the indifference at which Instructor Sormon said these words.
Instructor Sormon looked at the quiet children, then he shook his head.
"I don’t have time for any nonsense. If you get on my nerves, I don’t mind sending you back to the ground."
None said a word or made a sound of response.
"Good."
Instructor Sormon nodded, then he gestured at the smooth wall.
"Although the wall is smooth, I told you guys that you can use your demonic energy, so don’t forget that."
"You all have a maximum of ten minutes of rest on each platform, and this ten minutes is not part of the two hours time limit I gave you."
"Whenever you reach a hundred feet platform, I’ll come to you guys and tell you what you did wrong and how you can be better at climbing."
This was the only good news they’ve heard since the beginning of the class, and many of them wanted the Instructor to teach them since nearly all were beginners when it came to climbing.
Even Simon was curious since he didn’t know much about mountain climbing or cliff climbing.
So, he waited till Instructor Sormon came to him.
Five minutes later, Instructor stopped at Sunless, praised her on climbing skills, then gave her a few tips on how to climb better.
Twenty seconds later, he was done.
Instructor Sormon was a man who didn’t like conversing so much, so his teachings were usually brief and quick.
Simon was next, and he waited.
However, Instructor Sormon did not even spare him a glance and he walked past him almost like he didn’t exist.
Simon blinked in surprise. He had a baffled expression as he looked at the Instructor who was talking to the excited cheetah-masked classmate.
Was there a problem?
Had he done something wrong?
But what could he have done wrong?
Simon was truly baffled, but he decided to wait and observe.
Instructor Sormon was done with the cheetah-masked classmate of his in ten seconds, then he kept on walking to the next Initiate who was after the cheetah-masked Initiate.
Simon decided to call the Instructor.
He raised his hand. "Instructor Sormon?"
Instructor Sormon paused, then he glanced at him with an indifferent gaze.
"Yes?"
"You skipped me."
Instructor Sormon indifferently and calmly raised a brow.
"So? Slaves should be last and should always be at the bottom for everything."
Simon blinked in surprise, and did not give a response.
Instructor Sormon indifferently turned away and continued his approach to the next Initiate.
A few seconds later, Simon shook his head with a light curl of his lips.
"I see."
