The Cannon-Fodder Villainess Faked Her Death, Her Five Beast Mates Go Wild-Chapter 162: Romande’s Probe
Flying over the deep blue sea and weaving past countless towering cliffs, a colossal crescent-shaped island came into view.
The island was lush with greenery, and from its sharp corners to the grand castle at its center, a magnificent long staircase was paved with shimmering pebbles.
Looking around, countless Dragon Clan beastmen had transformed into Winged Dragon forms, basking on the long steps or foraging along the coast...
The Dragon Clan seemed to prefer living in beast form.
Wen Shu landed on the ground holding Luo Fei, and with Rah, arm in arm, they stepped onto the long staircase, marveling at the splendor of Dragon Island as they walked.
However, halfway through, they encountered a Winged Dragon sunbathing.
When it turned over, it saw Luo Fei in Wen Shu’s arms, its long tail slapped into the middle of the path, blocking their way.
Upon seeing the Little Winged Dragon’s appearance, its old eyes widened briefly, a shadow flickering within them, "Ah, whose child is this, and how did it get so injured?" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Its claw moved extremely fast, the sharp claw blade thrusting straight toward the Little Winged Dragon’s head.
Caught unprepared, Wen Shu tensed her arms, instinctively leaning back and retreating half a step, deliberately falling into Rah’s arms.
The old Winged Dragon didn’t hold back at all, the claw tip tearing her garment at the waist, revealing a small patch of snowy skin.
Keen to attack again, it was struck by a robust snake tail, a deep cut forming across its head.
Rah tightly hugged Wen Shu, the scales of his snake tail raised dangerously, dark fire smoldering in his eyes, "Romande, is this how you treat guests!"
He didn’t care, with one flick of his long tail, he tightened it around the old Winged Dragon’s neck, applying a little force, the snake tail was soon covered in sticky blood.
It was only then that Romande leisurely walked forward, "He’s a wanted criminal on Dragon Island. If you don’t want trouble, hide him well."
His voice was deep and lazy, with a touch of inexplicable amusement, his gaze fleetingly sweeping over the cowering figure in Rah’s embrace, "However, harming a female is not in Dragon Island’s rules."
With just a pause in his tone, several Winged Dragons transformed into human shapes, preparing to escort the old beastman away.
But Rah squinted his eyes, intending to take action personally.
Noticing their movements, Wen Shu turned her head slightly, about to speak, only to lock eyes with Romande.
His lips curled slightly, a half-smile playing on his face, sending a chill down her spine.
"What do you mean by this?"
Wen Shu clenched Rah’s arm, not averting her gaze guiltily, but instead hiding the Little Winged Dragon, glaring at Romande, "If I find it, it’s mine."
She pressed her lips together, burying her head into the crook of Rah’s arm, looking up at him, "Rah, let him go quickly, otherwise if more people see it later, they’ll want to snatch my stuff!"
With that, she tugged Rah, taking hurried steps towards the castle, her ears pricked up, keen on the old beastman’s movements.
Oddly, they seemed to have gagged the old beastman, as not even a grunt could be heard...
Romande followed leisurely, recalling the scene just moments before.
Knowing she would be hurt, the female still protected Luo Fei, not to mention that fleeting tension.
Could it be, she and his dear brother...
His smile deepened at the corners of his eyes.
Why not test it and find out?
Upon reaching the castle with Rah, a young beastman guided them to their room.
Once the door was closed and confirming no one was outside, Wen Shu sighed in relief, sitting wearily onto the bed.
Seeing how her face had turned pale from exhaustion, Rah approached with a cup of water, "Female master, have a drink."
The clear water rippled slightly.
Wen Shu was indeed a bit thirsty, but having just arrived on Dragon Island, she had already encountered a blatant attack, and then there was Romande...
She rubbed her forehead gently, pushing it away, "Just set it down, this place isn’t safe."
Rah understood her concern, but seeing her lips dry and chapped, a flash of worry crossed his eyes, and he drank it himself.
Wen Shu was a bit surprised, and just as she was about to ask, Rah poured another cup, placing it in her palm, "It’s safe to drink."
He pondered for a moment, mysteriously leaning close to her ear, earnestly saying, "My skin is thick, and I’m poison-resistant, so later when we eat, I’ll try it first before you do."
His deep voice carried an endearing silliness, utterly different from his earlier facade.
Wen Shu’s fingers touched the cup’s rim, finding it inexplicably warm.
Rah squatted before her, those burning blue eyes staring intently at her.
The heat in his eyes was unmistakably direct.
Wen Shu held the cup tightly, her long lashes falling, avoiding eye contact, and she drank the water in one gulp.
"Thank you."
She wiped her lips, placing the cup on the wooden cabinet, then picked up Luo Fei to inspect his injuries.
Hearing her somewhat cold tone, Rah’s heart tightened, squatting closer, trying to converse with her.
But all he got in response were the same few words, repeatedly, "Mm," "Got it," "I’ll do it myself."
The female was angry...
Rah was somewhat dejected as he squatted there, reflecting on all that had happened, yet he couldn’t fathom what he had done wrong.
"The leader has prepared food in the main hall, please come and taste it, and also, a set of clothes."
There was a knock at the door.
Rah stretched his broad frame, accepting the tray, and upon seeing that it was a red dress woven with gold, his face soured.
He hadn’t given the female any gifts yet.
Having roughly bandaged Luo Fei, Wen Shu shook out the long dress, frowning slightly.
"It’s too long, it’s inconvenient."
She returned it to the tray, pulling out clothes from the wardrobe, cradling the Little Winged Dragon in her arms, "If anyone asks, say I dislike red."
The room they were in was just beside the main hall, and as they arrived, other beastmen carrying trays were filing in.
Wen Shu was starved for most of the day, her stomach was already flat from hunger, but as she sat at the dining table, she found herself lacking appetite.
Romande was very cautious, and the superpower was still unusable.
This male lead had a mercurial temperament, and she was genuinely afraid of being poisoned, so she symbolically speared two pieces of meat.
Meanwhile, as Rah had promised, after taking a few bites, anything that proved safe was piled onto her plate.
Wen Shu clutched the Bone Knife, hesitating to eat, and in her absentmindedness, the fragrant aroma wafted across her nose, warmth spreading over her lips.
Her lashes fluttered as she lifted her eyes, meeting Rah’s concerned gaze.
"Wen Shu," he gently leaned in, his blue eyes filled with sudden sincerity, "It’s my fault, don’t be angry anymore, have something to eat, please?"
The heat by her lips was intense, Wen Shu calmed her emotions, presuming he was pretending, she snorted lightly and bit into the food.
"I’ll reluctantly forgive you."
Watching her cheeks bulging like an adorable little beast, Rah felt his heart blossom with joy.
His lips curled upwards and then pressed down quickly, and as he was about to feed the female more, his hand was firmly slapped away.
"I can eat by myself."
Romande sat across from them, observing this flirtatious scene, feeling a wave of discomfort.
He really didn’t expect that a fierce rogue like Rah could be so insufferably sticky.
It was truly hard to describe.
His meat-cutting motion halted, interrupting their interaction, "Wen Shu, why aren’t you wearing the new dress?"
With meat in her mouth, Wen Shu looked up to answer, but Rah beat her to it, saying something she hadn’t instructed.
"Because it wasn’t given by me."
He lifted his eyelids, coldly adding self-importantly, "Romande, females only like gifts from their own Beast Husband, you wouldn’t understand."
"Cough, cough, cough—"
Wen Shu almost choked.
Romande, who harbored some suspicion, also felt an inexplicable soreness upon hearing this response.
What was this rogue bragging about?
Isn’t it just a...
He glanced at Wen Shu, seeing her red-rimmed eyes from choking, her clear gaze tinged with moisture, her slender back lightly trembling like butterfly wings, and he swallowed his scornful words.
He had to admit, she was beautiful.
His brother’s taste had always been impeccable.
"Wen Shu, did you bring your pet along?"
Romande chuckled softly, patting his palm with his left hand, "Take it down and have someone treat it, otherwise, you’ll be heartbroken if it dies."
