The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master-Chapter 86: You Are Mine
"Because you’re mine." Nathaniel Nathan’s tone was suddenly domineering and direct.
Vera Xavier: "..."
After a glance at her, Nathaniel Nathan added, "And to be objective, he’s not as good as me, nor is he right for you. I don’t think you need to waste any time on him."
Vera Xavier: "..."
’Mr. Nathan, seriously? Is this how you praise yourself?’
Nathaniel Nathan frowned. "What? You don’t think so?"
The moment he spoke, his entire aura turned chilly, and the atmosphere instantly grew cold.
Vera had to admit, he was something else. ’After praising himself, he still needs other people to agree with him.’ She decided to take back all the compliments she’d just paid him in her head.
She pressed her lips together slightly before saying, "Whether you’re as good or as right for me as you say remains to be seen. But Wesley Kane is definitely a scumbag who isn’t worthy of me, so I’m very grateful you snatched me away in a moment of impulse."
Nathaniel Nathan frowned. "It wasn’t an impulse."
Vera froze for a second. ’Not an impulse? Could it have been premeditated? I remember my wedding to Wesley Kane was set up and scheduled in just over a month. And most importantly, he wasn’t even back in the country at that time.’
Nathaniel Nathan met her questioning gaze but offered no further explanation. Instead, he changed the subject. "You still haven’t told me why you came to my home."
’He’s certainly persistent,’ Vera thought. ’It seems like he won’t let this go until I explain everything.’
Although she felt it was embarrassing to air the Preston family’s dirty laundry, they weren’t her real family anyway. Besides, it wasn’t as if he was completely in the dark about them. So she said, "It’s nothing much. My mom doesn’t think I can do well on my exams, and my dad happens to be out of town. So she wanted to take this opportunity to send me to Corvale to work and earn money for her to spend."
A sharp glint appeared in Nathaniel Nathan’s eyes. "How vicious."
"It’s nothing, you get used to it." Vera winked at him. "So, I might have to stay here until my dad gets back. You don’t have a problem with that, do you?"
Nathaniel Nathan’s gaze softened as he looked at her. "My bed is yours to sleep in. And so am I."
Vera Xavier: "..."
’Hey, Young Master Nathan, can you not switch gears so quickly? You’re giving me whiplash!’
Nathaniel Nathan, however, seemed completely oblivious to the effect his words had on Vera. He pulled a set of toiletries from a nearby drawer, then grabbed a pair of his pajamas and handed them to her. "You can go to sleep after you wash up."
He finished speaking and turned to leave, but she asked frantically, "Uh, wait a minute! Where am I sleeping?"
Nathaniel Nathan looked her up and down before replying, "You came to my home to sleep with me, so of course you’re going to sleep in my room, in my bed. Where else would you sleep?"
Vera Xavier: "..."
’Young Master Nathan, your logic is airtight... but where in the world did you come to that conclusion?’
Seeing the look on her face, Nathaniel Nathan seemed displeased. "What? You have a problem with this arrangement?"
"None at all!" Vera said, though her voice lacked conviction.
"Good." Nathaniel Nathan said flatly. "There’s one thing I’m sure I don’t need to emphasize again. In essence, we’re already married—a legal couple. We should be sleeping together. So, you’re sleeping with me tonight."
