Chapter 81: 81 - Red claw gang (01)

" Dammit!" Hei Hunli roared, throwing another empty bottle, the glass shattering as it hit the wall.

His palace was dark and, by his own orders, not even his closest guards dared to disturb him.

The leader’s powerful body sank into his throne, his trembling eyes closing.

He still held his power, his fortune and many of his soldiers, but his heart was in pieces.

All this had been built up by him and his brothers, by a promise they had made to their mother: never to bow their heads to anyone beneath the heavens.

What was the point of going through with that promise without them there?

"Those bitches... this is all their fault!" He clenched his fists hard enough for his nails to sink into his palms and draw blood.

Hunli wanted revenge, he wanted all their heads decorating the walls of his fortress. But he simply couldn’t act.

With each bottle of liquor he finished, he set off for the next.

He hadn’t slept for days. His vision was blurred and his steps staggered as he opened his personal cellar, where his decades-old collection of wines and liquors should have been.

But it was empty - he had already drunk all he had to drink.

"Shadow..." He called out to his most loyal servant, but there was no answer.

"Shadow, where the hell are you? Answer when your master calls-" Hunli’s voice suddenly died away.

Shadow was also in that attack and had died with his brothers.

He gritted his teeth, his face filling with hatred as he gripped the mighty axe displayed above his throne.

He was going to attack that damned temple right now!

He reached the mighty double doors of his throne room and prepared to open them, but froze at the last moment.

The entire fortress of the Red Claw Gang shook with a thunderous explosion.

His eyes widened and his heart almost leapt out of his chest as an aura fell over him.

It was weaker than his own, certainly belonging to a cultivator of the second stage of the Foundation Realm, but the density of the Qi was much greater, charged with a murderous intent that made every hair on his body stand on end.

He breathed deeply.

The shouts of his men soon reached his ears and he forced himself to take a step out of the fortress.

In the center of the courtyard stood a young man. His handsome face displayed a cold smile as his sword tore through the air around him, a blade of Qi forming from its slash and heading towards the bandits coming out of their tents.

The men’s angry eyes were soon filled with terror as the second form of the Tempest Monarch’s Sword Art reached them, torn bodies piling up on the ground.

Hunli felt his blood run cold. A single attack and the Red Claw Gang stronghold fell silent.

The invader obviously hadn’t killed everyone, but none of the survivors had the courage to wait for the second attack.

Qingyi ignored them. They were just small fish - with Elize and Yueli’s current power, they would have no problem dealing with them if they tried to cause trouble.

His eyes rose, focusing on the powerful but trembling figure.

Hunli took a step back under that gaze, but soon realized something.

That boy was identical to the description of the man who killed his brothers, given by his escorts.

At that moment, all the fear in his heart was erased, replaced by a deep hatred.

"You bastard!" Hei Hunli roared, his feet sinking into the ground as his huge body was catapulted towards Qingyi.

"Ugh..." Qingyi grunted as he defended himself.

All four Hei brothers were cultivators with flame spirit roots, but Hunli’s fire Qi was incomparable to that of his brothers.

Qingyi was forced back two steps, the fire Qi hitting his lightning sword Qi and burning everything behind him.

"You will pay for my brothers’ deaths!" Hunli put even more force into his axe, pushing every drop of his Qi towards the young man.

But even his seventh stage foundation cultivation was no match for Qingyi’s current power.

Sighing heavily, the handsome young man turned his body, letting Hunli’s axe pass through him before aiming for the criminal leader’s unprotected flank.

Gathering all his Qi into his sword and arms, he used the first form of the Tempest Monarch’s Sword Art.

Hunli barely managed to retract his axe in time, clumsily parrying Qingyi’s blow.

His legs gave way and he coughed up blood, retreating until his back hit the fortress wall.

’How can this bastard have so much Qi? And how can this Qi be so powerful?’ he asked himself, but Qingyi gave him little time to think.

The young man activated his Lightning Steps, covering his sword with a dense layer of bluish Qi, surrounded by fine silver threads.

His body exploded with speed, his sword striking Hunli’s axe.

A crash echoed and the wall shook, giving way under the bandit’s back as he was once again catapulted backwards, his body flying dozens of meters out of the fortress.

His eyes trembled as he tried to understand what was happening.

That young man was clearly at the second stage of the Foundation Realm. How powerful did his cultivation base have to be to cross so many stages?

Intense terror took over his face, but soon that expression changed completely

It was impossible for that young man to be so powerful with just his cultivation base - there had to be some artifact with him! A very powerful one!

That thought immediately dominated his mind as he reached into his robes and pulled out a red pill dotted with black spots.

He would kill that young man, take whatever artifact he had and then go after those damn priestesses before rebuilding his gang.

The death of his brothers would not be in vain.

With a cruel smile, he opened his mouth wide before throwing the pill in, but his smile soon disappeared as he looked down at his wrists.

The pill had fallen to the ground, covered in blood.

’Where are my hands?’ His eyes widened.
