The Crimson Reaper-Chapter 98: Give Me Back My Wife! (2)
Luciel looked down below his feet and saw how the runes drawn on the floor started to light up.
He cursed under his breath for not noticing them earlier and not being careful enough, but his fear for his wife clouded his judgment.
Luciel tried to get out swiftly, but the runes already activated and he fell down on his knees, screaming in pain.
’Suppression runes...’ He thought, sweat covering his whole body as he tried to look up at George, but what appeared before him was the blue, semi-transparent system screen.
<Warning! Pure Yang damage detected>
<Qi: 565>
<Yin: 423.5>
<Yang: 141.5>
He groaned in pain, clenching his fist, making it bleed due to his extended claws.
It felt like his whole body was burning up while his Yin was getting drained.
In the meantime, seeing how Luciel was about to get hurt, Helen bit George’s finger that was lying on her lip as he was holding her mouth open, prepared to pour the vampire’s blood into her throat any moment now.
"Ouch!" George yelped after getting bitten by Helen who screamed Luciel’s name immediately.
She didn’t care about what would happen to her, she only wanted to help her husband, but she was powerless.
"I dare you to do that again!" He raised his hand, slapping Helen’s cheek with all his might, leaving a red mark.
"C’mon, do it-" George got cut off after hearing how Luciel’s agonizing grunts got replaced by threatening, non-human growls.
He glanced with the corner of his eye at the vampire that he had trapped with an amusing smirk on his face.
"The great Luciel Ashford," George started, finally ignoring Helen’s presence for a bit to let her breath, "reduced to nothing but a mear beast."
"What do you want?" Luciel grated, trying to buy time to figure out how to get out of this quickly and to get his revenge.
As his Qi, especially the amount of Yin was decreasing, he could feel his sanity slowly sipping away while his hunger grew, causing the vampire’s instincts for preservation to kick in.
"Your life, before you take ours," George finished his sentence with a dark, ominous tone, watching the life in Luciel’s eyes slowly diminishing.
"Why?" Luciel winced in pain, bringing the corners of his eyebrows closer together.
"The kids, how are they doing?" The hunter answered with another question, allowing the vampire to figure it out, after all, he wouldn’t be alive for much longer.
Helen looked up at her captive after his revelation, there was no need to bring that up unless they had something to do with it.
"You..." She glared at the man next to her. Despite her body trembling body, she dared to stand against him.
Not only that but during the exchange Luciel and George had, she wasn’t wasting any time and was thinking how to help Luciel based on Qi explanation the boys had given her earlier.
It was hard to believe in it, but given the circumstances, she had to.
There was one idea she got that might work, but there was one problem with it - it depended on Luciel’s factor and whether he would be able to do it.
"Y-you were the one behind the missing children?" Luciel asked him, clawing at the floor, leaving faint scratch marks.
No... Killing him was a punishment too light for someone like him.
George smirked, those two were pretty quick to catch on, but no matter.
"Kill him," He ordered, glancing back at Helen, wondering what to do with her. The moment they would release her, she would rush to Jack to report them.
’Well... There is only one way to deal with her...’
As ordered, Dash raised his silver axe high into the air, its sharp blade faintly glinting in the low light.
’This is so wrong...’ He hesitated as he observed defenseless Luciel.
The guy didn’t do anything wrong, at least to them. It was clear that he just wanted to be left alone and live with his life, but that kind of life was impossible for him.
"Luciel!!!"
He could hear the distant cry of Luciel’s wife, making the decisive cut even harder.
"Overflow the circuit, Luciel!" she screamed, her voice cracking with urgency as tears welled in her eyes. This was her only hope.
If her reasoning of the Qi was correct, it worked similarly to the current. If too much electricity goes through it, it will start to melt.
George’s eyes bulged after hearing Helen’s shout, he looked mad.
"Dash! What are you waiting for?! Kill him, now!!!" He screamed, sounding panicked as he stared into Luciel’s eyes furious eyes that were itching for a fight.
’Overflow the circuit?’ Luciel thought, glancing up at Dash, who seemed frozen for some reason, but that didn’t matter right now.
He glanced at the flashing screen in front of him, his Qi was depleting and now, Helen wants him to spend it willingly.
This sounded as a bad idea, but the only one they had. The worst problem was that he didn’t know how much he had to spend for the whole thing to break, but that shouldn’t matter if he was going to lose his life anyways.
’Here goes nothing,’ He thought, placing both of his palms in the middle of the tunes.
His body was screaming in pain. It was like skin pieces were peeling off while his insides were burning up.
"Just like a mist bullet," he muttered to himself, trying to ignore the pain while visualizing moving all of his Qi into his hands while trying to separate Yin and Yang to minimize the loss, after all, he only needed one of them.
Once Luciel thought that he had gathered enough, he roared, exelling it all at once with his eyes starting to glow vibrant red.
’I don’t want to die!’ Dash freaked out, finally swinging his axe towards Luciel’s neck, closing his eyes.
It didn’t matter what he thought about George’s cruel actions, the truth still stands. He did nothing to stop his friend, making him just as guilty.
And Luciel won’t give him a moment to explain himself either.
After swinging his axe, Dash expected to feel a soft tissue under it, a sound of head rolling on the floor, but he had to peak once he only heard a clank against the floor.
What he saw around him was a thick mist, filling an entire room, making it hard to see. It was kind of suffocating as well.
He gulped after he heard a low growl behind him, not daring to turn around as he stood frozen.
Luciel broke free...

A/n: Hello! I’m sure that you have noticed that I stopped uploading and to tell you the truth, I am forced to drop the story because of the low reader base and because of reasons I am not sure if I should say, I won’t be able to get more exposure.
Writing takes a long time and as things are, it doesn’t pay off to continue...
Instead of just dropping the story, you can expect to see a few more Chapters where I will give a satisfactory ending for Luciel. You can also expect to see an afterword word from me where I will give a sneak peak of a new story I’m planning!
