Chapter 350: Stranger

Mineah went back inside their bedchamber, and there she found Abel who curtly greeted her with a bow. She just didn’t want to leave Nikolai alone unattended so she asked both Abel and Fritz to take turns whenever she was in situations where needed to leave Nikolai, such as right now.

"Your Majesty, Taro has been worried. He just sent word, asking if he’ll be allowed to see King Nikolai," Abel informed.

"I’m allowing it. Let Taro return here for some time and have Luis relieve him in the meantime," Mineah said and Abel nodded. The two of them then delved into further discussions regarding more crucial matters concerning the governance of the kingdom, ensuring that Nikolai’s condition would remain confidential, particularly among the ears of the opposition.

She immediately dismissed Abel after they finished their discussion. Krisha soon entered the room as well to bring her dinner.

"Let’s have dinner together, Milady," Krisha said with a smile after preparing the table. Mineah smiled and said, "It’s fine Krisha. You should leave now and get ready, Taro will be arriving any time now since I allowed him to take a break to see Nikolai. He’s worried... And while he’s here, I see no harm in allowing him to stay for a few more days so that the two of you could have enough time to spend together."

Krisha’s face reddened and she looked more lovely with how her face lit up and glowed. "Thank you, Your Majesty!" She beamed. "I’ll go fetch Zaila and Dani so that they may have dinner with you."

Mineah chuckled and said, "It’s really fine. Dani is now married as well and I’m sure she would love to dine with her husband too, although Abel might have a different appetite. I heard he enjoys human meals too. Zaila needs more rest, as she’s been deprived of sleep taking care of both Zoran and Ezekiel. I can have dinner alone. Besides, I want to have some private time now with Nikolai so that I can nag him again for sleeping too long."

Krisha smiled and then courteously left the bedchamber. Mineah sat by the table and ate her dinner while watching Nikolai who remained unconscious. She quickly finished her dinner and proceeded with her usual routine, including meditating, to ensure that her body had fully adjusted well to her active divine powers that were no longer restricted given that the chaos inside of her had cleared. She was truly freed from her curse now, and that was because of her husband. He had kept his promise.

Mineah checked on Nikolai’s condition. It remained unchanged, she could still see his life force but it was still unstable and faint, flickering like a blinking star. It was the first time she had encountered a life force like this, but then it was probably because his body was still repairing. What mattered most was that his life force was still there, and it meant that he would wake up once it stopped blinking.

She moved and positioned herself by his side and started massaging his arms and legs to keep the blood in his veins flowing despite his lack of movement.

"Lai, the divine dagger is now gone inside my body, and nothing can prevent us anymore from having as many babies as you want. But I can’t have a baby alone, so please wake up soon alright? So that can finally start our family together," She was blushing so hard as the shameless words poured out of her.

There was a terse silence as she stared at Nikolai’s peaceful and handsome face. She released a heavy sigh before she continued to speak.

"Lai, please wake up soon. Are you planning to have me wait longer? You should know I’m not as patient as you," Mineah pouted. Of course that was not true. She would wait for him no matter how long he took. She would be more than patient...

He was still a bit cold and worry crept into her heart, despite how his life force gave her some assurance. It had been two days already. She gently held his hand to her cheek and lovingly kissed his knuckles.

"Wake up, please. I miss you so much," she murmured as tears started running down her face. She didn’t know how long she had stayed in that position, talking to him as if she was sure he could hear him.

"I read Minister Amed’s thoughts, and you know what I found? He’s quite interested in me and adores me. I have a feeling that he will take any opportunity to snatch me from you, so you better wake up soon." she said with a playful smile as she wiped the tears from her cheeks.

She couldn’t help but imagine how Nikolai would react to what she was saying right now. Nevertheless, she continued to mention all things to him, even the slightest and most trivial details like this, hoping that it would somehow reach him and encourage him to wake up soon. There was no guarantee that he could hear her but she never squashed the possibility that he could. So she would keep talking and pushing him to wake up soon.

It was already getting late, and Mineah could feel her eyelids becoming heavy, so she quietly joined her husband in bed. She kissed him on the lips and whispered, "Goodnight, Lai. I love you and I miss you so so much, so please come back to me as soon as you can," Then she hugged him and nuzzled her face in the crook of his neck. How wonderful must it have been for Nikolai to wake her up with kisses like he would always do? freewebnøvel.com

Mineah had a wide smile and was filled with hope as she dozed off to sleep to the familiar scent and fainted warmth of her husband.

Meanwhile, Nikolai kept hearing a woman’s voice in his subconscious mind as if pulling him towards her.

’Just a few more...’ he thought as his energy kept neutralizing and repairing inside his body. He didn’t know what happened, and how his inner energy and life essence received such damage when the last thing he remembered was sleeping in his bedchamber after his usual routine and attending to the responsibilities in his kingdom.

Something weird was happening, and he fully intended to find out what was going on so he had to hurry and repair his body to know what exactly happened.

"Goodnight, Lai. I love you and I miss you so so much so please come back to me as soon as you can."

The woman had a beautiful voice that he found pleasing to his ears. Nikolai inwardly cursed with what he was thinking right now. How could he even entertain such ideas after what had happened to Dahlia? She died because of him, so dreaming about another woman just didn’t feel right.

’What is going on?’ Nikolai mused because he could feel a familiar warmth engulfing his senses. It was such a nice feeling, that he pushed himself so that he could finally open his eyes and wake up.

After some time of determined concentration, Nikolai’s eyelids finally moved as it slowly fluttered open. He woke up and was now looking at the familiar ceiling of his bedchamber.

His body then froze, as he felt the warmth of the soft body around him. Nikolai gulped, as he slowly and carefully turned to look at the owner of the body.

He gasped as he stared at the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his entire life. The moonlight and the faint light from the fire inside his bedroom was enough for him to see her clearly.

She was a human and was peacefully sleeping with her possessive arm wrapped around him. Her sweet and wonderful scent invaded all his senses. It would have been easy for him to get out of this situation, and yet his body seemed to have a mind of its own as it decided to do nothing. He stared at her, studying all her alluring facial features. She had charcoal long hair and a few of its strands were covering her face, so he gently moved those strands away.

Her eyebrows were perfectly shaped and were as dark as the night sky. He bet that she had beautiful eyes, and began to wonder what hues were there. Her pointed nose perfectly complimented her luscious heart-shaped lips. He let out a groan, surprised by how wild his thoughts were, simply from looking at the stranger next to him in bed. Before he could second guess himself, he raised his hand to touch her face. Hell, he even wanted to kiss her lips and have a taste of it.

He held his hand back and inwardly groaned with how his body was so affected by her presence. What was wrong with him?! He had never felt this way before, even with Dahlia. She began to stir, and his eyes widened when he saw his mark in between her neck and shoulder.

He marked her?! Having his mark on her meant that he did the Coupling Rite with her. But he couldn’t remember that he couldn’t even remember who this woman in front of him was!

"This..." He parted his lips and his heart skipped a beat when she sluggishly opened her eyes.

"Lai," she called him lovingly.
