[DING! Congratulations, Agares! You have obtained dropped items]
[+150 Copper Coins]
[5x Spore Sack Fragment]
[5x Monster Core]
Agares reached out and collected the dropped items that had been floating above the corpses of the dead widowlings.
They died and rotted, their bodies swarmed by flies and other insects, decomposing and returning to the earth fast without leaving a trace.
At the very least, he had earned some monster cores and copper coins after killing all five monsters.
The more monsters he killed, the more EXP and items he gained.
Even so, Agares’s journey was far from easy. Ahead, thousands of powerful monsters awaited challengers. If he wasn’t careful, he could die in vain.
Unlike the previous dungeon corridors that always remained open, what lay before Agares now was a corridor sealed by a door.
That’s right! It was similar to a boss room gate—except this one had only level 4 widowlings. Agares suspected that the floor boss on the 11th floor was likely level five or six.
The door to the corridor slid upward, opening a path for Agares to reach the next area. Without hesitation, Agares walked quickly, leaving the garden behind and entering a new hallway.
"Hwaaah!"
Aoi woke up. Her head popped out from Agares’s black shirt and saw that he was walking through a hallway. She immediately greeted him.
"How long have I been asleep?" Aoi asked curiously.
Agares turned and smiled at her. He clearly remembered when she had fallen asleep after he had asked for her help.
"I don’t know, maybe two or three days."
"Using a true kitsune’s power is exhausting. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you much, Lord Ares," Aoi said, guilty.
"It’s fine. I understand—your powers are unique, and I know the cost."
Aoi felt happy and relieved. For some reason, she felt at ease being near Agares, even though he always showed a cold, expressionless face. But when he spoke to her, Agares always smiled.
Agares stopped when he arrived at a four-way intersection. One of the three hallways ahead led to the floor boss room.
Still, this situation reminded him of the time he’d discovered the dungeon treasure chest not long ago. He’d found it thanks to Aoi’s ability.
’Aoi just woke up—it wouldn’t be right to ask for her help again.’
’I should let her recover her strength first.’
From where he stood, Agares could tell the boss room lay straight ahead—down the center hallway between the right and left paths.
Now, there was a chance that either of the remaining hallways held a treasure chest... or both were traps... or both held treasure.
The point was—Agares had no way of knowing what truly lay in either of those paths!
The risk was too great to go searching for treasure that wasn’t worth dying for. His choice was made: the center hallway that led directly to the boss room.
After a moment of silence, Agares picked up his pace and headed down the middle path. Aoi soon asked which way was correct, and Agares responded briefly.
"This one leads straight to the floor boss. Don’t worry, Aoi."
Aoi cleared her throat, turning her focus forward again. From a distance, Agares spotted a beam of clear light at the end of the hallway—a sign that the 11th floor boss room was near.
The man quickened his pace and soon left the hallway. When he arrived, Agares could only gape in shock at the scene before him.
He’d expected the boss monster to dwell in a vast forest deep within the dungeon. But that wasn’t the case.
Instead, Agares found himself standing in the exact same area as the previous garden—now burned, ruined, and swarming with carrion-eating insects.
"What the hell happened?" Agares gasped, his eyes flashing.
"What is it?" asked Aoi.
"This is the same place where I killed the widowlings. Are there that many areas like this on the 11th floor? Or... is all of this just an illusion?"
’No, this isn’t an illusion. I can feel a different aura here,’ Agares thought.
Suddenly, a violent tremor shook the ground, pulling Agares’s attention. He quickly turned his head and saw the earth cracking open in the middle of the once-beautiful garden.
WOSH!
Agares leapt high into the air, holding Aoi tightly to keep her from falling. From beneath the earth emerged a massive, three-meter-tall arachnid. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Its body was pitch-black, and a large, overgrown tree sprouted from its back, releasing poisonous air across the area.
The spider locked eyes with Agares. He flinched, preparing for battle. He told Aoi to hold on tightly—fighting would be difficult if he had to protect her. Aoi nodded in understanding.
From its mouth, the spider burst a green web laced with acidic fluid capable of melting Agares’s flesh. Agares activated his skill.
"Activate skill!"
"Saber Skill: Shadow Cleave!"

Agares’s eyes shone bright violet as he slashed his sword, Shadepiercer, both vertically and horizontally, flowing it with dark energy.
A cross-shaped shadow wave burst forth, attacking the green web that tried to trap him.
It worked! Agares’s attack shattered the acidic web easily, and the blade’s energy continued on, striking the spider’s body directly.

The damage had been reduced due to the acidic web partially absorbing the strike. Without it, the hit might’ve done much more.
Agares glanced to the top-right of his vision. He clearly saw the monster’s name—Widowgrove Arachnid—with an HP of around 750, about the strength of a level 5 monster.
"Is this the floor boss?" Agares wondered.
Even so, he still couldn’t determine the buffs or abilities of the spider monster. He had to stay cautious.
Agares landed some distance away from the monster. The spider crawled fully onto the surface and let out a loud screech in response to the pain from Agares’s earlier strike.
"Boss or not... I’m going to take it down."
Just as Agares prepared to activate his next skill, he noticed something worrying—the entire garden was now filled with a green, foul-smelling poisonous mist. He reflexively covered his nose and swung his sword in a circular wave to clear the fog.

Agares gasp in shock. The mist wasn’t meant to paralyze or inflict a single wound—it steadily drained his HP by 10 every second.
If he didn’t find a way to counter it soon, he would slowly die from the poison.
His attention shifted to the large tree growing from the spider’s back. Poisonous air spewed from holes in its trunk, causing the entire area effected.
Now, before he could kill the spider, Agares had to destroy the toxic tree first.
"That tree... I need to destroy it—fast!"
