Hou Tengqi’s expression darkened. The humiliation at his hands felt like yesterday but even more damning was his defeat at Bai Yingtai’s hands. He was physically so taller and stronger than him that Hou Tengqi simply couldn’t even think about messing up with a man like him.

Yang Bingqing took this as the perfect chance, one again, to fan the flames.

"So your own fiance acts violent toward you and your brother-in-law harasses you like a pervert?" She gasped. "My poor Meng Rin is suffering so much...Isn’t she Cheng?"

Lihua’s brow twitched.

Yang Cheng’s eyes narrowed dangerously. Hou Jielun passing lewd comments against his wife years ago was still fresh in his mind.

"Before pointing fingers or questions, we must first know the truth. I believe the one to be questioned should also be Miss. Meng."

Meng Rin stiffened.

"I have been a police officer for years now, so I see a pattern when I feel one. It feels odd that things have fallen quite conveniently for Miss. Meng," his eyes squinted.

"First, Mr. Bai got poisoned that brought this ceremony to a stop, the focus naturally fell upon Mr. Tengqi and somehow Mr. Jielun too."

Mingshen shone. "I didn’t know people had a fetish to be poisoned."

"Excuse me, Dr. Yang?"

He smiled merrily. "Well, if you are insinuating that something feels planned and fake here, then how about you try and get poisoned. It’s a lovely experience, you know~ I think you missed the live show of that actor choking and almost dying, but once the results come out, I’ll be glad to inject some of that forbidden fruit into you too~"

Everyone’s brows twitched. Zhong Kai was the damn Commissioner for God’s sake and it was probably Mingshen in the whole world who could throw him such an attitude.

Zhong Kai smiled. "Sarcasm as always. I appreciate your jolly candor, Dr. Yang, but this is a serious situation.".

"Oh? I thought we were watching a comedy drama?" Yang Bingqing smiled dangerously this time. "A comedy drama where a man tries to inappropriately touch a woman, yet the funny climax is that the woman planned it - especially when I, Yang, Bingqing, have witnessed such a disaster happen right in front of my eyes!"

Hou Guangxi gritted his teeth. "There must be some misunderstanding."

"Wow, I didn’t know there is little respect for witnesses. Only Jia is the best police officer in the whole world! Insinuating that this old woman here is lying..." she sniffled.

Zhong Kai said, "I’m not insinuating anything, Mrs. Yang. I just hope to get all the facts straight from all perspectives even if...somebody might look completely innocent."

Jia came forward and faced him. This was a do or die situation. The decisive moment was finally here.

"Commissioner Zhong is right that we should get all our facts straight. That’s why it’s imperative that we bring everything to the light and question the two brothers because this isn’t just about Miss. Meng."

Hou Huan glared. "What do you mean? What else would it be about?"

"Mrs. Huan, I would have knocked on the Hou family’s door irrespective of what happened tonight because we have some serious evidence against your youngest son, Hou Jielun."

At that moment stepped in Yong, who before Hou Huan with a smile. Behind Mingshen was Shilin, whose gaze drifted in a particular direction before moving back upon Yong.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Hou. I have been waiting for this moment for so many years now."

"Who are you?" Hou Huan asked impatiently, sensing a dangerous whiff in the air.

"Aww, come on. You should recognize me, right? After all, you are our regular customer - oops! I mean...you were our regular customer once upon a time."
