The Devil Doctor's Spicy Love-Chapter 419: Engagement chaos (9)
Yong’s vision blurred when she watched Nuwa walk in. Those more than thirteen years of disappearance had now finally culminated into the moment the entire Huayuan was waiting for, Roulan was waiting for.
At first, she didn’t understand Shilin’s plan. How were they supposed to prove Nuwa’s connection with the Hou family when they had forced every last piece of evidence to vanish from the face off the earth?
She glanced over at Shilin’s side, who was calmly standing behind the Yang family in the distance. There wasn’t any trace of emotion or panic upon seeing Nuwa, as if it was going exactly as he had planned.
Yong held countless questions.
If Shilin knew about Nuwa’s truth from before, then why didn’t he say so earlier? Why was he hiding her all this time?
Where Nuwa had been living this entire time?
She then glanced at Zhuo Syaoran, who had originally diverted the attention on Nuwa.
Zhuo Syaoran...
Jia was thinking at the same time as Yong.
He was an enigma since the first time she met him. Sitting on a wheelchair with a sickly and frail body, being wheeled around with the help of his guard and helper and being forced to live isolated from his family, Syaoran was a no man’s enemy - or at least that was how he looked to the world, like a harmless rabbit.
Yet against all adversities and odds, the calmness never faded away from his eyes, whether it was today, the day she met him on her birthday, at the charity event night or at the amusement park.
Jia knew about Yong’s plan and about her entry to expose the Hou family and Zhong Kai. As much as she was shocked about Nuwa’s appearance herself, it also made perfect sense that she would be alive. There was no official death record of her, and it was a simple vague statement that she had drowned in some river, nowhere to be found.
Until today it became all too clear that she was not only alive but housed in secrecy by none other than Zhuo Syaoran for all these years - which made Jia think all the way back to the amusement park day when she met Yong and the college gang the first time. But they weren’t the only ones she met there the first time.
She had come across Syaoran too.
Yong, a woman belonging to Huayuan and from where Nuwa belonged too and Syaoran, who hid Nuwa all this time to be present at the same place and at the same time felt way too coincidental to Jia.
The man who was hiding the woman Yong had been searching for this whole time was there at the amusement park where she was?
Which suggested to Jia that it wasn’t a coincidental meeting in any way. There was definitely an agenda for those two people to be at the same place, including at the charity function event night.
But looking at Yong right now, Jia could tell that she might not have been aware of Nuwa after all. Yes, her reaction was perhaps due to the fact that she was finally seeing Nuwa in flesh after so long, but there was a hint of hidden surprise in her eyes - as if there were traces of doubts in her mind whether Syaoran keeping Nuwa with him was even true or not.
She didn’t know at all, Jia concluded.
But Yong somehow still knew of today’s plan, which meant there was another person in the shadows that told her.
Huayuan’s leader - which Yong very clearly mentioned was present in today’s ceremony.
Then it all made sense to Jia as to who that person might be.
She cast her gaze, very slowly and only for a moment towards that one young man who could fit to be the Huayuan’s leader. The same leader who was looking back at Jia at this very exact moment.
One who was also present at the amusement park that day along with Yong and possibly met Syaoran there too, whereupon he learned about Nuwa’s existence.
One whose son’s safety Zhong Kai threatened Si Yu with and now that very son was standing in the same space as him, watching the Commissioner’s downfall by taking revenge for what had happened to his father.
One who was there at Huayuan when Yong told Nuwa’s story and Roulan’s subsequent breakdown, not because his university friends had dragged him there to fool around with women but simply because he was the leader himself, free to enter and exit Huayuan as he wished.
And one who joined Mingshen’s lab as a young doctor only to guise his presence to be closer to Roulan’s daughter, Yuming - the comatose woman who recently gained consciousness.
Huayuan’s leader, Si Yu and Lingyun’s son and Bojing’s junior.
Shilin.
She looked at him at the same time he looked at her. She looked into his eyes that studied the same realization she had - he knew she knew.
"Did you hear that Mom!?"
Jielun’s loud, confrontational voice stirred her from her web of thoughts.
"She called me garbage! How can you allow that to happen!?"
Nuwa’s jaw clenched. "What else should I call a piece of trash if not garbage? What else should I call a family like the Hou family who have been bringing women in to warm your bed just so that they could continue your happy illusion of not being able to get it up? What is your family but not trash if they trampled women upon women only to stroke your arrogant ego!?"
He froze.
Jia stepped forward and alternated her gaze between her and the Hou family.
"Miss. Nuwa, it’s indeed quite shocking to see you doing well. However..." her eyes narrowed at Hou Huan. "We were told - and effectively the whole world - that you had drowned in a river and that you were dead."
Nuwa trembled. "I was alive all this time...I..."
She peered into Zihan’s painful and longing gaze with guilt and remorse. "I..."
Jia asked, "Please tell us what happened. From the time you came to the Hou villa to when you disappeared and now reappeared - please tell us everything that happened to you."
