Chapter 151: [151] Winter Shogun

Eliron raced through a cloud of hot steam. While he was covered in many injuries, blood dripping down his body, the winter shogun was without a single dent.

This sight enraged Eliron...

By now, it was clear that when it came to swordsmanship... just maybe... mayybeee the shogun was superior.

Maybe it was the awakening the demon spoke of, or maybe it was because he was fighting someone who probably had a thousand years of experience as opposed to his two months.

But every move the shogun hit felt different... altered.

The A-rank skills felt like S-ranks, and the SSS-ranks felt like they were a level above them.

It was almost like he could somehow ascend them...

But that was not what was on Eliron’s mind, right now, still locked in the madness of battle, he refused to lose no matter the cost.

No matter how far he had to go, what depths he needed to draw power from, he would dent the demons’ spotless armour and take that sword!

Eliron leaned back as a clean strike came, cleaving through the snow and nearly taking off his head.

He delivered a kick to the samurai’s knee, then closed the distance, his sword racing for his neck.

The samurai raised his guard up, Eliron’s sword creating sparks as it scratched his armour, leaving deep grooves on it.

Then their blades met again, creating a clash that sent the wind billowing past them.

The shogun drew one foot back, then lunged, thrusting the black blade at Eliron’s gut.

But Eliron had already seen it two seconds in the past. He twisted his body, the sword scratching his side, then he grabbed the blade and rammed his elbow into the shogun’s face.

His elbow met steel, the shogun staggering back, yet he refused to let go of the sword... Well, neither did Elrion.

Clasp!

The shogun took hold of Eliron’s sword as well, the two of them wrestling through the snow.

"Your sword must be heavy right? Let me hold on to it for you!" Eliron snarled.

"Only if you let me hold onto your head first, kid." The shogun bit back.

When the shogun saw that Eliron would never let go, he activated one of his sword skills, the blade glowing blue.

Only then did Eliron jump back, raising his own sword. ’It’s time to finish this...’

He had already seen two seconds into the future. The shogun would unleash the greatest attack he had ever launched and dice him to pieces.

’I have to use it—!’ Elrion thought.

Once again, the future morphed within his eyes, but this time, the action that would ensue was so fast that he knew that there was nothing he could do to stop it.

’No matter...’

Eliron raised his sword high above his head. He closed his eyes for a fraction of a second, feeling the world around him.

He felt the hair bristles on his neck as they were blown by the winds, the heat of the sword in his hands, and the icy cold that bit into his skin like needles.

When he opened his eyes, there was a bright gleam within his iris as he opened his lips.

"Supreme Sword Aura."

The shogun’s eyes widened. ’He can use that??!’

He had never thought Eliron was capable of it, so he had not prepared for such an attack, and that mistake born out of underestimating his opponent would cost him.

He changed manoeuvres in an instant, a feat only capable of a sword master.

The demon then lunged low, slicing his sword in an upward arc. But just before he could connect, the aura was unleashed, slicing away his right arm and cleaving a grove in the world.

At the same time, a large gust of ice tore out of the blade, flying right at Eliron.

Eliron immediately adjusted his position and slashed at the strike, but just as the sword met the snow, the blade shattered like glass.

It had had enough, going against a sword of that caliber when it was already in poor condition was too much for the elven steel.

The shogun had been holding the sword with both hands, so now that he was without one, all he had to do was switch his grip without ever losing hold of his sword.

So Eliron had not yet won.

He charged through the haze as Eliron was blown back, and cut through the snow, but when he saw that Eliron’s weapon had failed him, he stopped mid-swing.

But Eliron didn’t.

He had not noticed the samurai’s hesitation, as he was too lost in the madness of the battle.

He jabbed the broken sword through the slot in the samurai’s arm guard.

The broken blade bubbled with fire, Elrion letting out a battle cry as he cleaved the sword right out of his hands, staining the white snow with black blood.

<•••>

Eliron then fell to his knees, his breathing erratic.

"Yes!!! I beat that old bastard!" He sighed, sweat dropping to the ground.

Then he fell back, staring up at the windy skies above.

"Yeah right...." The sword demon walked up to him and stared down.

"Huh? Why are you still here?" Eliron asked, eyes narrowed as he stared at him.

Normally, he should have been exorcised, the world should have faded away, and yet, nothing was happening...

The sword demon took off his helmet, his long silver hair flowing down his back then shrugged as he gave Eliron the stink eye.

"I think we have a problem." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Eliron stared at the armless demon and quirked a brow. "What do you mean we have a problem?"

"Isn’t it obvious? I should have vanished by now right? I should be experiencing the peace of nothingness, and yet, here I am, staring at your ugly face!"

"Well no one is stopping you from disappearing, go on, shoo!" Eliron sat up with effort, eyeing the sword demon.

"You think I wouldn’t have done that years ago if I could? God, why did I get stuck with such an incompetent exorcist?"

"Incompetent?? You said disarm you, and you look pretty much disarmed to me." Eliron mocked, his eyes moving to the stumps where his arms should have been.

The demon’s eyes narrowed and in an instant, he regenerated both arms...

Just so that he could point right at Eliron’s face. "If you had done your job right we wouldn’t be in this mess." He spat.

Eliron sighed and massaged his forehead. "Wait, let’s evaluate this properly. You want to be exorcised so that you can be at peace right? And I want your sword, so let’s figure this out..."

He stood up and throttled through the snow to where the sword was then grabbed it.

Nothing happened.

The storm was still heavy, the winds were still howling in his ears and he still felt like he was stuck in a meat freezer.

Eliron tossed the sword to the demon who caught it mid air.

"Maybe the law had a temporary glitch, let me try once again."

He grabbed his broken sword and walked up to the demon, taking his stance.

"Alright, I am going to knock the sword out of your grip now okay? Just stand still."

Eliron charged forward, swinging his blade at the shogun’s sword, but just as he got close, Satoru vanished from his spot, appearing right behind Eliron, his sword barrelling down.

"You fucker—"

"Hehe, you didn’t think I would make it that easy did you?"
