Liu Banxia had a good appetite. While Qiu Mingyuan and Xiao Yue were busy chatting, he earnestly focused on eating. Soon, a pile of skewers stacked up next to him.

"My goodness, Brother Liu, are you full yet?" Qiu Mingyuan asked, glancing over during a pause in their conversation.

"Almost. Once I finish this juice, I should be pretty full," Liu Banxia replied.

"Actually, I forgot to ask for another bowl of wonton soup. Eating kebabs always makes me thirsty. Having some light wonton soup would be perfect."

"Brother Liu, I've seen you eat many times before, and I guess only Tang Dou and Tiggie at home could compete with you," Qiu Mingyuan said, giving a thumbs up.

"Hehe, the best thing about your Brother Liu is that no matter how much food is made, you don't need to worry about leftovers. He can eat it all in one go," Qiaoqiao chimed in happily.

"It's just that I burn a lot of energy. I ate a bit less at lunch today to get some extra rest, and I also had a surgery this afternoon. And I'll have to continue like this for the next few days," Liu Banxia explained.

"However, once that's over, I can rest for a couple of days. I'll stay home for one day, and on my next workday, I'll go straight to the medical school to pick up the interns. Being able to sleep in will be quite nice."

"Don't be a fool and just focus on surgeries all day. There are so many people, just share the load," Qiaoqiao advised.

"Sister Qiaoqiao, Brother Liu's surgical skills are superb. My dad mentioned it twice at home. Many of the surgeries he performs, only Director Zhou can do as well," Xiao Yue added.

"Well, that's good then. But don't overwork yourself," Qiaoqiao said, her mood lifting slightly.

It's okay if he's a bit tired. He's so capable, so being tired is understandable.

Then, her brows furrowed again, and she stared intently at Liu Banxia.

"What's wrong?" Liu Banxia asked.

"You don't care about me," Qiaoqiao stated firmly.

"What do you mean I don't care? Weren't we just having a good time?" Liu Banxia replied.

"You didn't even ask about my prenatal checkup results today. You just don't care about me. Baby, your dad doesn't want us anymore. We're not going to be nice to him," Qiaoqiao said, addressing her belly.

"Baby, Daddy saw Mommy looking so happy, even prettier than usual, so Daddy knew everything must be normal," Liu Banxia cooed back.

The onlookers rolled their eyes. Are these two playing house? Why are they being so childish?

"Out with it. What are you hiding from me?" Liu Banxia suddenly asked.

"Huh? Nothing. I'm not hiding anything," Qiaoqiao quickly replied, her expression a bit flustered.

"Your restless little hands have already betrayed you. Is it about Comrade Old Qiao? Be magnanimous, give me some face. He is, after all, my father-in-law," Liu Banxia said.

"Oh dear, what does this have to do with Old Qiao? I wasn't planning to tell you so soon. I wanted to wait a few more days," Qiaoqiao pouted.

"What is it? You're not getting me a new car again, are you? I haven't had this one for very long. In the future, you can get me surgical caps. I'll wear a new one every day," Liu Banxia suggested.

"How can you be like this? Why is it always about you? I'm pregnant with twins!" Qiaoqiao snapped, glaring at him.

"Oh—what? Two babies?" Liu Banxia clutched his phone and shot up from his seat.

"Yes! I'm so worried. I don't even know how I'll manage one, what am I going to do with two?" Qiaoqiao fretted, her brow furrowed.

"Qiaoqiao, baby, you're not kidding me, are you? Is it really twins?" Liu Banxia asked anxiously, accidentally letting their pet name slip out.

"Ooh, 'Baby,' is it?" Wang Xiaoyan teased from the side. "Our 'Big Baby' is carrying little babies, how lovely! Don't worry, it's twins. The doctor did say Qiaoqiao needs to be more careful because she's too careless."

"Hehe, HAHAHAHA... Great! HAHAHAHA... That's wonderful!" Liu Banxia, on his end, was left chuckling like a fool.

"Sister Qiaoqiao, you're so amazing, having twins just like that!" Xiao Yue exclaimed, grabbing the phone.

"Yeah, the woman who had her check-up right before me was also having twins. The doctor mentioned that by the time it was my turn, they'd already seen eight patients today, and three of them were carrying twins. Maybe it's the trend this year," Qiaoqiao mused.

"I need to go home. No, I can't. Going back now would mean delaying things... Oh, what should I do? All the surgeries are scheduled. I can't ask the director to cover for me; there are so many surgeries," Liu Banxia started muttering to himself, pacing on his end.

"Should I tell the director I don't want to be deputy director anymore? No, that won't work either. That would be letting down the Chief Director. And if I win the selection, I still have to take the position."

He was genuinely ecstatic, practically bursting with joy, wishing he could fly to Qiaoqiao's side immediately. His mind was a complete jumble. Twins! This is such wonderful news! They'll even have each other to play with in the future, like built-in buddies.

"Qiaoqiao, you absolutely must take care of yourself at home. Don't lift anything heavy; ask Yanzi to help you. And stop ordering takeout. Go to Sister Xian's place for meals," Liu Banxia said, having grabbed the phone back.

"Also, you don't need to take Tang Dou out for walks anymore; let Qing Kewa do it. And, and, this is monumental news, absolutely earth-shattering! It's too late today, but tomorrow you have to tell both sets of parents."

"And, let me think... Sister Xian can handle the meals, and we can arrange for someone to help look after you. Hmm... right, snacks! You need to be careful about snacks too. You can't just eat whatever you feel like. Definitely avoid things with lots of additives."

"You can eat more fruits and vegetables; you have to maintain your nutrition. Otherwise, with two babies, it'll be too much of a burden on your body. Pregnancy is already tough, and now you're carrying two. You must be so tired. You absolutely have to take care of yourself."

"Oh, right, doesn't Yanzi know yoga? Get her to look into prenatal yoga. Doing it at home is fine; it's better than tiring yourself out by going somewhere else. Get some sun every day, and then do yoga at home. That way, you get exercise and sunshine."

Liu Banxia continued to ramble on, phone in hand, his expression constantly shifting. Qiu Mingyuan and Xiao Yue watched, somewhat dumbfounded. Is this the first time we've ever seen Brother Liu so flustered?

"He must be overjoyed to the point of going crazy, right? Look, Brother Liu can't even speak coherently anymore," Xiao Yue remarked.

Qiu Mingyuan nodded. "I've spent a lot of time with Brother Liu, and this is indeed the first time I've seen him like this. You know, even when he met my dad for the first time, he was perfectly composed, not fazed at all."

"It's quite nice. Doudou will have two little playmates in the future. Sister Qiaoqiao is really amazing. And the key is she's still so calm through all this. That's incredible."

Meanwhile, on Qiaoqiao's end, Wang Xiaoyan and Qing Kewa sat beside her, watching her "performance."

There was nothing more to say. What else could one say? Qiaoqiao was now beaming with a huge smile. Wang Xiaoyan and Qing Kewa had been congratulating her all afternoon, but they hadn't seen her this overjoyed.

Qiaoqiao paid no mind to her two friends, just nodding vigorously at everything Liu Banxia said. She was incredibly obedient and looked utterly blissful.

Initially, when Liu Banxia started laying down so many rules, she had wanted to protest. But once she understood it was all out of concern for her well-being, she readily accepted all of it.

While Liu Banxia and Qiaoqiao were deep in their animated conversation, Captain Shen led the two girls out. They had finished eating, and all necessary statements had been recorded, so their business there was concluded.

However, when Captain Shen came out and saw Liu Banxia crouching in a corner, chattering away on his phone, he couldn't help but be curious.

"Brother Liu just received some great news. Sister Qiaoqiao is pregnant with twins, and he's over the moon. He's just been repeating the same things over and over," Qiu Mingyuan explained, approaching Shen Xinhao.

"Haha, that's certainly something to be happy about," Shen Xinhao nodded.

"Then let's wait for him for a bit. Everything that needed to be handled is done anyway. You two," he said to the girls, "don't worry. If the other party contacts you again, refuse them at different times. Don't refuse them simultaneously. Just follow the plan we discussed."

The two girls nodded obediently.

At first, they hadn't taken the matter too seriously, but after seeing all the photos inside, they were genuinely terrified.

After about ten more minutes, Liu Banxia's phone ran out of battery and automatically shut down, finally bringing his call to an end.

"Ah, you're all done? Did you eat enough? If not, Mingyuan can take you for some more," Liu Banxia said.

"Everything's taken care of. We'll still need to trouble you to send them home. Next time, I'll message you first, and you can call me back when you have time," Captain Shen said.

"Alright, I'll definitely cooperate fully on that," Liu Banxia nodded.

Then, turning to the girls, he added, "You two, don't worry. We're the ones who were deceived by them. It's good enough that we're not looking for trouble with them. We'll aim to get them all in one go, but that's Captain Shen's work."

"Thank you, Dr. Liu. Can we take a picture with you?" asked the girl on the left.

"Of course! I can even give you an autograph in my best doctor's scrawl. I guarantee it'll be so illegible even I won't be able to read it," Liu Banxia said, trying to lighten the mood.

He didn't want the two girls to carry too much of a psychological burden. Even if an incident like this didn't cause physical harm, it would still have a psychological impact. That's what delayed fear is—the kind that grows the more you think about it, even if you weren't that scared when it actually happened.

"You can't just go back like this. Let's get some fruit or something. Skewers aren't really a proper meal," Liu Banxia continued.

"Dr. Liu, really, there's no need. We ate a lot of skewers just now," said the girl on the right.

But Liu Banxia didn't care whether they agreed or not. He was happy today, so he was going to do as he pleased.

Once outside, he found a fruit shop and bought a huge pile of fruit, filling the trunk to the brim. He even put a good number of bags on the seats, leaving just barely enough space for people to sit.

He couldn't be the only one happy. When he got back to the hospital later, he had to let everyone else share in the joy.

The original plan was for him to drive the two girls home. However, the two young girls were quite sensible and understanding. So, Liu Banxia delegated the task of driving them to Qiu Mingyuan; otherwise, Qiu Mingyuan wouldn't have much else to do.
