The Evil Lord's Wife Has Spirit Blood-Chapter 306
Sitting on the ground, Michelle had her eyes closed, observing her body. But she could not even feel the difference in the amount of her spirit energy. Not to mention finding out anything more.
It was like something was deliberately clouding her knowledge. She did not like that. It felt highly unsettling and uncomfortable.
And that only made her more determined to really find out what her body was like after all the changes.
So, she decided to use a different method.
When the Silent Bastard had bitten her, to check the wound, she had created a small Sensing Net within her own body. Back then, she did not spread it around her whole body. Only the wound and the areas where the poison had spread.
But it was a good foundation to start from.
She could slowly spread the Sensing Net around her whole body, going over every physical change.
Naturally, the Sensing Net could not be spread around her entire body at once. Michelle would do it in layers.
First, right under her skin. Second, within her flesh and muscles. Then bones and veins, and finally organs and nerves.
While the Sensing Net was just under Michelle’s skin, she could not find anything new. Everything was just as she remembered.
When she moved the Sensing Net into her muscles, she noticed something.
The structure of her muscles had changed. She could move them the same way as before. But with the new structure, if she wanted, she could also move them differently, which would give her a completely new set of movements.
Before moving on to pushing the Sensing Net deeper, Michelle stood up and looked down at her hands.
First, she moved the muscles in her hands.
When she flexed the muscles in her palms, she was able to curl her palm unlike before, making the joints connecting her thumb and little finger to her palm touch each other. Usually, she could not achieve such a movement even when she gripped her palms from the sides and pressed them together. She could only achieve something similar, pushing the fingers closer.
But after the change, she could do that on her own, without any need for external strength to press the sides of her hands together.
Originally, she was unable to do it because the bones and joints in her palms put up resistance, meant to move in other ways. But they could still be forced to move to that point.
After the change, Michelle gained strength and control in her muscles powerful enough to overcome that resistance.
Michelle continued testing how her new set of muscles worked. It took her a few hours until she sat back down on the ground, resting her head on her knees.
She did not even realize that she was curled up in a position that would have been extremely uncomfortable and maybe even painful for a normal human. If they had been trained in flexibility, it could have been fine, but still unnatural.
But Michelle was not trained in something like that.
And she was not thinking about the position she was in. She was thinking about all that she had found out about her muscles.
She could tilt her neck deeper and twist it to the side much further. The same went for her waist. She could bow down lower and twist to the side further without moving her hips.
Those were the two most impressive changes. She could do similar things with other muscles.
But while testing, she made sure not to go to the limits of her joints. She suspected there could be changes in her joints. If that was the case, she could definitely discover it if she moved her hands past the limits of normal humans. But she was also worried that without knowing enough, she could end up severely hurting herself.
To prevent that, she decided to check her bones and joints first.
Summoning her Sensing Net again, Michelle checked her bones and veins first. Her bones were sturdier, and blood was flowing faster through her veins.
As for her joints, some were left untouched.
Most were left untouched.
But some had changed, namely the ones in her limbs and neck. They were much softer, like they were made of some kind of fluid.
Seeing that, Michelle assumed she could twist and move her limbs much more than normal because of that.
That was probably inherited from the Orange Widow. A spider. It was known for being able to bend its eight limbs in quite grotesque ways.
Finally, Michelle went on to check her organs and nervous system.
The changes there were not visible. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Michelle could only guess that if something did indeed change, she would only see it if she was exposed to something that affected it.
For example, if she gained some kind of resistance to poison, she would only see it when exposed to poison.
Something like that.
For some time, Michelle tested her joints. She found it a tad bit disgusting.
She was not exactly fond of spiders, so gaining the abilities of one was not all that pleasing. Especially since she had to get used to the new way of moving.
It was uncomfortable, even if it could be useful.
"Nyx..." Michelle called out into the empty valley around her.
Black haze left from between her brows and formed into thick black mist in front of her. "Yes?" Nyxaroth’s voice in his beast state was unsettlingly raspy. Michelle was already used to it, but if someone else heard it, they would at least frown, if not shudder in disgust right away.
Michelle pinched the bridge of her nose. "How much of the changes in me can you see?" she asked.
The black mist turned within itself, looking like bubbling fluid as Nyxaroth spoke again:
"Your power has increased. Your joints and muscles have gained more movement possibilities. Your bones are sturdier, veins a bit more narrow, which makes your blood, and in turn spirit energy too, flow around faster. That gives you more control over your spirit energy and dramatically decreases the time of your skill casting."
Nyxaroth’s last words were a surprise to Michelle. She noticed that her blood was flowing faster through her veins and that they were narrower. But she did not realize that her spirit energy was flowing faster too. Naturally, she also did not realize the further implications it had.
Seeing Michelle so deep in thought, Nyxaroth knew he was no longer needed and returned to her body. If he saw something new that had changed, he would inform her.
After considering the implications of being able to use skills faster, Michelle turned her attention back to the barrier of the Heavenly Law.
She reached the conclusion that she would further research the changes in her body in the upper realm, directly in combat. Probably against beasts she would find along her way to where her father was.
Placing her hand on the barrier again, she summoned her spirit and soul energy, letting it chaotically surge throughout her body.
Then, she let it wrap around her arm and pushed against the barrier.
The resistance was still there, but with a bit of strength, she could push her hand through.
A moment later, Michelle was finally standing in the upper realm. The place where she had many things to do.
She had to find a way to get to the second-best academy, so she could conceal her Spirit Soul Blood. She also had to finish the business she had with the Ostrich family, still from the Land of Exile.
Just two things, but they would definitely take up a lot of time.
And there was a high possibility that while taking care of that, things would pile up on her like a small snowball rolling down a hill, giving her more and more things to handle.
Of course, there were other small things to take care of, but she did not even bother to think about those. Once she got to her father’s place, she would sort out her responsibilities.
But that was for later. At the moment, her mind was on the Heavenly Law.
First, she decided to train her shadow essence for some time, maybe even a few weeks if she felt the need. And the training would be exactly the same as when Alexander first trained her to use shadow essence.
That way, she could activate the real rank of her Shadow Essence that the Heavenly Law allowed within the upper realm.
And even if she could not attain that high power, she could at least raise it somewhat. So if she got into trouble in the upper realm, she would be able to help herself at least a bit and would not end up completely strained.
The training took Michelle much longer than she had expected.
Not just a few weeks. She ended up staying around the barrier of the Heavenly Law for nearly two months.
When she was done, she looked at the barrier again.
Well... she could not exactly look at it since it was invisible. But she could look at the place on the ground where she guessed it was.
Standing up, she walked to the barrier, ignoring how tired she was from training.
Once again putting her spirit and soul energy into motion, she pushed herself to stand within the barrier.
