The Exalted Prince Lives Again-Chapter 60: Noble Faction
Chapter 60: Noble Faction
"Prince Lucien, please join our faction."
Three cadets were standing right in front of the door, with a bouquet in their hands.
Lucien glared at them, scanning them from top to bottom.
These guys were first years, he could tell.
Meaning they couldn’t have come here on their own.
They weren’t even told about factions yet.
Someone sent them here to recruit him.
"What faction?"
He asked, curious about their purpose and their backer.
"The elite faction, reserved only for heirs of high nobles, core politicians, big guilds, and royalty."
They talked about their faction, and Lucien could already tell what their purpose was.
Elitism.
"We want you to be the faction’s first-year leader."
Pfft!
A chuckle escaped his lips, making their eyes twitch.
They couldn’t understand what was so funny about this.
"What’s so funny, Your Highness?"
They asked, their tone a bit less polite.
"Nothing."
He said, raising his right hand and patting the center of one’s shoulders.
The central guy got nervous.
Lucien’s smile vanished as soon as it arrived, and his grin on the guy’s nape tightened.
Bam!
He raised him up in the air and slammed him on the wall ahead.
The other two guys’ eyes widened, but they were specifically told not to do anything against Lucien.
"It’s Edric, right?" His voice was cold, with an apparent threat laced in it: "Tell him to come recruit me himself next time."
Slap!
A crisp slap reverberated in the quiet hallway, "Until then, you can shove the faction up your ass."
Thud!
He threw the cadet to the ground and turned around.
They watched his back with rage as he walked away unbothered.
’I would make you pay back for this, Lucien.’
...
’I missed my classes for today,’ Lucien mentioned, clearly bummed out by that fact.
He didn’t like falling behind, so he had to ask someone for this.
William.
But he felt guilty about sending Mirae his way when he was at his important mixer.
And as if the Gods themselves hated him, on his way to his dorm room, he saw William strangely visiting the dorm.
Change of plans, he would go to the training hall first.
He turned around, but suddenly,
Ting! Ting!
His phone rang.
’Shit!’
William also heard the ringtone; his ears perked up.
He turned his head around and saw the back of a student he immediately recognized.
"Lucien," He shouted, making him pause, "I am over here."
He waved his hands in the air as Lucien turned back.
He gave him a small wave back and walked towards him awkwardly.
"I was about to search for you, William." He lied seamlessly.
"Thanks, but can we address the elephant in the room here?" William asked, confusing Lucien.
"What is it?" He asked.
"Ask that guard to let me in." He pointed towards the guardpost, who wasn’t even paying him any attention. "He said I’d need someone to allow me from inside to go." freewēbnoveℓ.com
’The guard is saving me, but I can not.’
He nodded at William, "Alright, let’s go inside, then we will talk."
He was shooting himself in the foot, but he couldn’t ignore or reject him either.
A rock and a hard place.
Scanning his ID and telling the guard that William was with him, they both entered the dormitory.
They navigated through the elevator and the hallways and entered Lucien’s room without a hitch.
"Damn!" William blurted out, "This is like 10 times better than mine."
"Of course, it is," Lucien said, sitting down on his bed, "It’s the Elite dormitory."
Tsk!
"Stop bragging." He clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"Anyways, are you fine? I heard you were severely injured in a fight." William asked, concern visible in his tone.
"I am fine, just need some exercise." He answered.
"What about your fiancée?"
Lucien shrugged, "She should be fine. She is a sorcerer, so she was behind me, not taking any damage. She was just out of spirit energy."
He explained clearly, a tad bit jealous of the sorcerers’ range advantage.
But sorcerers were like glass cannons, their bodies weaker than normal.
There were always two sides to a coin.
"We should get to the topic now," Lucien said, trying to finish their conversation as fast as possible.
"No, Lucien," William’s tone was uncharacteristically serious. "We have a bigger fish to fry, Lucien."
"Go ahead," Lucien acted composed, even though he wasn’t.
"Mirae came to me, right before I went to the mixture." He spoke, scanning Lucien’s face like a hawk, "But I don’t remember telling her anything about this."
"At least you met her before entering the mixer." Lucien sighed.
"Are you admitting to something?" William didn’t miss the small detail here.
"I am. I did tell her where she can find you." Lucien admitted, not wanting to extend the lies.
"My mixer plans were cancelled, and I had to help her with stupid books."
"She looked troubled." Lucien fired back.
"She was troubled," William admitted.
"You should be happy to help."
"At the cost of my possible future girlfriend?"
"Don’t be selfish, William."
"I..."
Somehow, Lucien managed to flip this over and squeeze through a victory.
’Good game.’
He muttered a common popular phrase that old Lucien used often.
"Let’s move on to the important stuff, William."
William, who had just realized what had happened, glared at him.
But Lucien ignored it smoothly, and spoke, "Lend me the notes of today’s classes."
William saw a chance here, and a smile crept up his face. "You missed three theory classes, Lucien."
"I..." It was indeed a tragedy. But, "I’d manage through somehow."
William nodded, knowing that Lucien would have a hard time for a bit, just like him. "I would send you their PDFs."
’What are those?’ Lucien screamed inside, but didn’t let it show.
He couldn’t let William get another one over him.
He would ask someone else to help with the PDFs.
"Something else happened in the classes?" Lucien asked, now that the notes were sorted out.
William thought for a moment, recalling what had happened that day.
To be honest, he spent more time appreciating Miss Nancy than listening to her lectures.
"Hmm..." Then something clicked, and William spoke, "She talked about choosing your Electives soon."
His voice trailed off, and Lucien realized that there was something else as well. "And?"
"Next week, there is a club fest."
