Chapter 127: Chapter 127 : Getting sullied by a goddess and Ethans Awakening

-----

Aurora’s golden eyes shimmered with divine intensity as her voice dropped into a more ominous tone.

"You’re really asking questions that are far beyond your mortal limits, Alex," she said, tilting her head. "Do you even realize that? Just knowing these things could make you a target in the eyes of other gods."

Alex didn’t flinch. His blue eyes remained steady, defiant.Thinking.

’I’ve already got enemies strong enough to curse my body with divine-level afflictions. Whether it’s one god or more... the risk is calculated.’

"I know," Alex said firmly. "Can you tell me, or not?"

Aurora let out a long sigh, brushing her silver hair back over her shoulder. Her expression softened with a mix of amusement and concern.

"You’re a fascinating mortal," she admitted. "Very well, I’ll tell you... but not everything. Some truths are better left untouched—your mind might not survive it."

She turned her gaze toward the sky for a moment, then spoke.

"The Age of Gods... was a time when mortals began gaining powers equal to us. Some of them... succeeded in slaying gods and taking their place."

Alex’s breath hitched.

’What the hell did I just hear?’

A single bead of sweat rolled down from his brow and traced his jawline. His back tensed involuntarily.

"Then... why did you come to meet me?" he asked, voice quieter now.

Aurora leaned on one hand, resting her chin on her palm as if remembering something far, far away.

"During the war between empowered mortals and gods... there was a man," she said. "He had golden hair, and golden eyes. He stood above all others."

Immediately, one name screamed through Alex’s mind. His gaze instinctively snapped toward the ballroom floor—where Ethan stood, frozen mid-dance with Seraphina.

Aurora followed his line of sight and smiled faintly.

"You’re right. It was Ethan,Or atleast he looked like." she said. "The resemblance is uncanny."

Her voice turned grave.

"But the man I speak of... he used a type of energy that I’ve never seen since. Unique. Pure. A force that didn’t discriminate between gods and mortals—if you stood in his way, you died."

She glanced at Alex, eyes narrowing slightly.

"But when you were dancing with Evelyn... just for a second, I sensed that same energy. Faint. Elusive. And now—it’s gone."

She paused. "That’s why I took control of her body. I needed to meet you."

Alex stood still, stunned.

’What the hell did she just sense in me...?’

Before he could spiral further, a gentle voice brought him back.

"Well then," Evelyn—no, Aurora—said, lips curving into a knowing smirk. "It’s time for my questions."

Alex swallowed hard and nodded. "Okay... ask away."

Aurora’s eyes bored into him. "Are you Alex Dragonheart? Born in Etheron?"

"I... don’t know," Alex said honestly. "I only have memories from when I was six years old."

Aurora’s gaze shifted, subtle but clear—she could tell he wasn’t lying.

"Where are your parents from?"

Alex shook his head with a soft smile. "I don’t know that either. They vanished when I was ten."

Aurora let out a sigh, tapping her fingers against her cheek. "Tch. This isn’t a fair exchange at all. I’m not learning anything useful."

Alex smirked mischievously.

’Heh. I just need to twist my words the right way. Even if she can sense truths, that doesn’t mean I can’t play around a bit.’

"Does this body belong to you?" Aurora asked suddenly.

Alex raised an eyebrow. "Technically? Yes... and no."

Her eyes narrowed. "Are there more than one entity within your body?"

"No. I’m the only one," Alex replied smoothly.

’That useless system doesn’t count as an actual entity.’

Aurora’s expression was unreadable. "Are you hiding your true powers?"

Alex blinked. "Who do you think I am? Cid Kagenou?"

Aurora frowned. "Who?"

"You don’t need to know that," he said, waving it off. "And no—I’m not hiding anything. I’m only at Advanced (low)-rank."

Her divine senses detected no falsehood in his words.

Aurora leaned forward slightly. "Final question, then. Do you genuinely consider Ethan, Alden, Charlotte, Seraphina—and the others close to you—your friends? Without any ill intent?"

Alex took a deep breath.

"Yes," he said. "I do."

Aurora’s gaze softened. No lies.

But Alex wasn’t done.

"...However, as long as they consider me a friend and don’t do anything that harms me or someone close to me... I promise I won’t do anything that harms them."

His tone shifted—colder now, more serious.

"But if they ever betray me... I won’t forgive them. I’m not someone who lets things go easily. I’m kind of a vengeful person."

Aurora exhaled deeply. Then, she smiled.

"Fair enough," she said, her voice tinged with quiet approval.

’At least he passes the character test. If he hadn’t... I would’ve had to erase him right here and now.’

Then Alex tilted his head, curious. "So... is Evelyn also an avatar?"

Before Aurora could answer, a voice thundered inside her mind.

| Don’t you dare tell him, Aurora. Or I’ll make you pay. |

Aurora flinched slightly, lips tightening.

’Relax,’ she muttered under her breath. ’I’m not going to reveal anything about us.’

Then she looked back at Alex and replied aloud. "Technically... you could say that."

Alex’s brow furrowed. "What do you—"

CRACK.

The sound split the air like thunder.

Both he and Aurora snapped their heads in the direction of the noise.

And what Alex saw next made his blood run cold.

From the far side of the ballroom, Lilith Noctis Bloodrose began to move—dark, ominous energy coiling off her form like mist. She was not frozen like the rest.

She walked slowly... seductively... toward them. Her blood-red dress clung tightly to her body—backless, slit high up her thigh, embroidered with dark velvet roses. A thin black choker pulsed at her neck, a crimson gem glowing like a heartbeat.

She wore a mischievous smile, her crimson eyes locked onto Alex.

Alex’s heart thudded in his chest.

’What the hell!? Even if she’s an avatar... how is she moving? Even Ethan is frozen!’

Aurora stepped forward, her expression tightening. Her voice was low, laced with warning.

"Nyx," she said. "What the hell are you doing? That girl’s body can’t handle the strain—you’ll kill her!"

Lilith—no, Nyx, the Primordial Goddess of Night—just laughed, voice echoing with layered tones.

"So you can do it, but I can’t?" she said mockingly. "How bold of you, Aurora, giving me advice now."

Alex paled.

’Nyx!? What the hell is she doing taking over Lilith’s body?!’

His breath caught as reality itself seemed to shift around them.

Something far greater was at play—and Alex knew he’d just become a piece on a far more dangerous board.

Nyx’s gaze turned to Alex.

The moment her red eyes—now glowing like twin abyssal stars—locked with his, Alex’s breath hitched. His muscles tensed instinctively, as though his body recognized a predator far above his league.

Then, to his surprise, her expression softened. Her voice came out smoother, more thoughtful.

"I was confused... just like you, Aurora, when I sensed it. In fact, I still can’t tell. Is it him... or that golden boy you chose as your avatar?"

Alex’s heart skipped a beat.

’Her too? What the hell is this, a divine guessing game? Why do I feel like a walking anomaly in a fantasy murder mystery?’

Nyx’s expression abruptly turned cold. She turned her gaze back to Aurora, her voice sharp as obsidian. "I’ll say this once, Aurora. Stay away from him... or you’ll regret it."

As her words rang out, the atmosphere twisted. The air thickened. Darkness coiled and pulsed around her like tendrils of living night, swallowing up the light in every direction. For a moment, it felt like the entire world had narrowed to nothing but the dark.

Alex clenched his fists.

’This aura... it’s like staring into the void of death itself. Why are all these goddesses so overdramatic?’

Aurora, however, simply chuckled.

"You should really know the limits of the body you’re possessing," she said, stepping forward gracefully. "It’s far weaker than the one I’m using right now."

With each step Aurora took, the darkness around Nyx began to waver and recede, thinning like mist under sunlight. A soft, radiant golden glow followed her, shimmering like dawn breaking over a battlefield.

Nyx clicked her tongue in annoyance. "Tch. This body is too weak."

Aurora’s gaze remained firm. "If you keep this up, you’ll tear her apart. Go back before you kill the girl."

A sigh escaped Nyx’s lips. She tilted her head back, irritated, but finally nodded. "Fine... But I’m warning you, Aurora. Keep your hands off of him."

Suddenly, Aurora snapped her fingers.

The ballroom, which had been frozen in time, resumed all at once—music, laughter, clinking glasses. It was as if nothing had happened.

Except for Alex and Aurora, who were still locked in their dancing position.

Aurora exhaled softly. "Looks like it’s time for me to leave, too."

She turned her head slightly, her eyes meeting those of Lilith, now seated once again and glaring at Alex as if she’d been personally betrayed by fate.

Then, in her mind, Aurora heard a sharp, furious voice:

|< What the hell do you think you’re doing, Aurora? Don’t you dare push it! You’ve already reached the limit! I’m taking control back—NOW! >|

Aurora’s body trembled slightly. Her control was slipping.

With a sudden burst of emotion, she cupped Alex’s cheeks with both hands, her voice low, tender... and cryptic.

"You should be honored," she whispered.

Alex blinked. "For wha—?" ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Before he could finish, Evelyn—or whoever had control at that moment—leaned forward.

Her lips touched his.

Time didn’t freeze. Time shattered.

Alex’s breath caught in his throat.

’What. The actual. Hell.’

Around them, the ballroom descended into a stunned silence. Everything stopped.

Lucas stood nearby, trembling like his world had just ended. "No... no no no no... it can’t be..."

Even Ethan, still dancing with Seraphina, froze in place. His body stiffened. His eyes wide with disbelief like his world has just came crashing down. The rhythm of the music faltered. The aura around him began to quiver.

Seraphina stared, completely speechless. So did nearly every upperclassman.

Evelyn’s lips didn’t just brush his. She gave a deep kiss—slow, deliberate.

A few seconds later, an unseen golden glow began radiating from Ethan’s body. An aura that no one had ever seen from him before—primal, divine, and completely unstable.

Finally, the kiss broke.

A thin bridge of saliva clung between them as Evelyn pulled back, her lips flushed and eyes dazed.

Alex barely heard her whisper, "Until next time..."

The divine glow around her body dimmed like a candle being snuffed.

Then, all at once, Evelyn’s body jerked slightly—as if someone else had suddenly taken over.

Her eyes widened. Her face turned scarlet, flushing from cheek to neck.

She stared at Alex as if he had just committed the gravest sin imaginable. "F-Forget what just happened!" she snapped.

Then she turned and ran.

She bolted across the ballroom floor, darting past shocked students like a storm. On her way to the exit, she collided with Alicia, who had just returned from outside.

"Hey Eve, I was just stepping out for some fresh—"

But Evelyn didn’t stop. She ran past Alicia like she didn’t even exist.

Alicia blinked. "What the hell happened to her?"

Back inside, Alex was still standing in the middle of the ballroom, dazed and motionless.

He touched his lips, his fingers lingering. "Even I don’t know what the hell just happened..."

’But i know one thing that excuse of a goddess just sullied my divine lips. This is emotional damage of the highest order.’

Suddenly—

"YAAAAAAHHH!!"

Alex spun toward the sound.

Ethan.

A golden aura exploded from his body, like a supernova contained in human form. His eyes were glowing, fists clenched, every fiber of his being trembling with raw, awakened power.

Ethan’s gaze snapped to Alex. His glare was absolute.

Alex felt a shiver crawl up his spine.

’Oh crap. I think I broke the protagonist. Is he going super saiyan or what.’

"...Time to make my escape."

Without another word, Alex turned and bolted for the exit. No hesitation. No dramatic exit lines. Just pure survival instinct.

Behind him, Ethan’s aura crackled violently. The students and professors alike stared at him in awe.

And in the wake of the chaos... only silence remained.

Ethan had awakened his bloodline.

Alex had vanished.

And the ballroom would never forget what had just happened.
