Chapter 421: I Remember Everything About You

That was exactly what they were working on. They’ve been able to confirm that Dolly was one of Isabella’s friends and was in the same house as Benita on the day of the wedding.

All evidences were pointing to her but they still needed one last piece to confirm that she was the one that actually loaded the supposedly empty gun and better still replaced Benita’s gun.

But he had not yet been given permission yet to reveal anything to Lauren. Who knows how excited she might be and end up tampering with the investigation unconsciously.

"I don’t know," Lauren said as she watched Steffan return to his seat.

"I just feel since Dolly seemed more desperate to have you than any of those ladies, it will be more logical for her to be the one that would want me dead. Besides, Benita never wanted me dead... if we are to go by what she said... she only wanted to scare me off from marrying you."

"So whoever loaded that gun, did it with the intention of killing someone she desperately needed out of the way, which of course wasn’t you. But like I said, they have nothing to do with each other, so forget it," she waved dismissively, took a sip of her red wine and a smile replaced her serious expression almost immediately.

"Now, enough about those people. Tell me more about this island you mentioned. I haven’t thought about it in ages."

It took Steffan a few seconds to readjust to the new topic and when he did, his eyes lit up with excitement. "Ah, the island..."

"Yes, the Island," Lauren echoed expectantly as if the previous conversation ne ee happened.

Steffan had to push aside his lingering thoughts about Lauren’s perfect analysis and focus on what she now wanted to know. "The last time you took me to see your grandfather, he spoke so fondly of it."

Lauren’s eyebrow furrowed in a skeptical frown. "And where was I when you were having this conversation with him?"

Steffan had never mentioned this to her all the time they were dating before he lost his memory.

"That day, you seemed busy with one of the special flavors you were trying your hands on. I guess that’s why you weren’t part of that conversation because it happened in his coffee room," he explained.

"I see... so what did he tell you about the island?"

"He told me it was where he usually goes to escape everything and just be at peace and that you loved it there when he took you once. Then, I thought it might be perfect for our honeymoon and he agreed for us to use the place. I planned it as a surprise after the wedding..." he trailed off.

Lauren understood the rest and didn’t press.

"... but it can serve a dual purpose now. We can use it for the wedding, then after everyone has gone back we’ll stay back for our honeymoon. What do you think?"

Lauren’s face glowed at the idea of holding her wedding and also spending time on the island for her honeymoon. Like steffan had rightly said, her grandfather had taken her there once when she was a teenager and she was so in love with the little island that she didn’t want to leave the place again.

She couldn’t help but smile when she remembered how her grandfather had coaxed her to return with the promise of bringing her back some day. But somehow things got hectic and over the years she hasn’t been able to go back. "That sounds perfect. I can’t believe you still remembered."

"I remember everything about you, Lauren," he said with a warmth that reached out to caress Lauren’s heart even without him lifting a finger.

She blushed, glancing away for a moment. "You’re too good to me, you know that?"

Steffan’s gaze turned intense as he finally took her hands. "I think it’s the other way around," he whispered.

Lauren smiled softly, leaning across the table to close the gap between them just as the waiter returned, breaking the moment. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Shall I bring dessert, sir, madam?" the waiter asked politely. One could easily tell that he was already used to the kind of intimate atmosphere the restaurant offered.

Lauren sat back, biting her lip. She was still smiling as she shook her head. "I don’t think I could eat another bite."

Steffan took a glance at the almost empty dishes on the table and chuckled. "I guess that’s all for tonight," he said to the waiter.

The waiter nodded and left.

They chatted briefly about the wedding before deciding to call it a night. As they stood to leave, Steffan placed his hand on the small of Lauren’s back, guiding her toward the exit. "I hope you enjoyed yourself?"

Lauren’s eyes twinkled charmingly as she looked up at him. "I sure did, Steffan. I can’t remember the last time I was this happy, thanks a lot."

"Same here and thanks to you too, my love."

"I love you too. You’re the best thing that’s hall to me," Lauren added.

Lauren’s words struck a cord that went deep into Steffan’s heart, but much more than her words, Steffan was more drawn to the expression on Lauren’s face as she spoke. It was pure, sincere and enchanting all at the same time and he couldn’t resist the strong pull it exerted on him.

When they got to the car, he seized the opportunity of helping her with the seat belt to capture her lips in a passionate kiss.

"And I will ensure you always remain happy, love," he said before planting a soft kiss on her forehead. It was more like a promise to himself than to Lauren.

With all she’s had to go through because of the crazy girls around him, she deserved all the peace and happiness in the world and he will try his best to make it happen for her.

Steffan settled back into the driver’s seat and started the engine and as they pulled away from the restaurant, the city lights flickered outside the car windows.

Lauren leaned back against the seat with a subtle smile on her face lost in pleasant memories. The idea of holding a wedding Steffan on an island lingered in her mind like a dream she could almost touch.

It had been so long since she allowed herself to truly hope for this kind of happiness, especially after Steffan’s supposed death, and now, with Steffan by her side, it felt possible again.

She glanced at him, marveling at the reality of having him alive and how everything had turned out perfect today... It’s been from one good news to the other.

When Steffan finally pulled the car to a stop outside her home, he turned to face her. "You know, Lauren..." he trailed off when he saw that she had drifted off to sleep. His lips spasmed in a smile as he just watched her for some minutes before tapping her gently.

"Sweetheart, we’re here."

Lauren awoke with a start and realized that they were in front of her apartment.

"I’ll walk you to the door," Steffan said softly, pulling away with a smile.

As they got to the door, they saw a tall figure emerged from the car parked across the road.
