The General's Wife Wants to Leave-Chapter 147: Sleep more
Chapter 147: Sleep more
"Let me go," Joanna demanded in a low, firm voice while trying to free herself from the cunning man by pushing his chest away from her.
She was upset and disappointed in him because he did not keep his word this time. He cunningly touched her when she was sleeping, while she had asked him not to do that as per their conversation in the carriage many hours ago.
She was assured that he was a man of his word. But he did not prove it to her this time, and it made Joanna disappointed in herself as well because she put her trust in him.
Getting in a paddy, Joanna let out a louder grunt as she expended more energy to push the liar man away from her.
But the cunning, liar man did not budge at all. Instead, Joanna, who barely distanced her body from the man, was pulled back to him as he was tightening his embrace on her.
"Shhhh. Sleep more," the man whispered, in contrast to the firm tone that was used by the upset Joanna to reprimand him, as if he did not notice that the lady in his embrace was angry at him.
Instead, he gently patted the angry lady’s back as if cooing a little girl to be back to sleep when she was still struggling to free herself from him.
"Let me go!" Joanna demanded again, slightly raising the tone of her stern voice.
Pushing Canillas’ chest, she tried to ignore the peculiar feeling when her fingertips touched his bare skin.
He was always like this. It made Joanna remember how he looked when they woke up from sharing a bed for the first time in the Powel Orphanage.
The string in front of his loose shirt would loosen, causing the V shape of his toned chest to show up, and it would tend to slide on one side of his shoulder as he was lying on his side. Hence, she felt his bare skin on her cheek and her palm.
Was he trying to seduce her? Joanna questioned that in her mind, and that made her want to push him away from her with all her might.
"It’s time to wake up, Sir Canillas. We have to prepare to leave," Joanna reasoned in a grunt, as she used her strength to push him when he was showing no sign of waking up, less letting her go as her demand.
Instead, he cooed her again in a sleepy whispering tone as a reply. "Shhhh. It’s still early. Sleep more."
A few soft pats were landed on Joanna’s back as he spoke. His embrace of her did not loosen. Instead, it tightened more, showing no sign of giving up on her, not even being willing to grant the upset lady’s wish.
"Father will leave us if we are late." Joanna continued to reason, grunting while trying to free her legs that were locked in his.
In these circumstances, Joanna felt that she would not feel any coldness once she was freed from the embrace of the cunning, liar man, as she somehow felt her body warming up from all the effort she used to shove him, whose well-built figure was not to underestimate, especially for a slender figure like her.
"I will take you there by riding Thunder. We will arrive before your father arrives. So don’t worry about that. Sleep more." Canillas resumed patting the slender back of the upset woman in his arms and rubbing his feet on hers, still trying to lull the woman, who was always eager to be away from him.
Meanwhile, the woman, who was struggling to be away from the cunning man, took a pause from writhing as she listened to his words.
"Thunder? Is he with you?" Joanna asked in full wonderment.
Wasn’t he in the carriage with her during the trip? How could Thunder be with him? Joanna wondered in her mind.
Slightly shifting her head to look up to see the face of the man, which was above her head, through the dimness in the room, she caught him still closing his eyes.
Not long later, every movement he applied to her body ceased as if he were in a daze.
Was he still sleepy? Joanna guessed, and the answer to her guess seemed to be positive from the way he answered as a response to her question, as he seemed to be belatedly remembering that he left Thunder in Barasca.
"We will ride Thunder’s brother, sister, or even his friend. So that’s not a problem to worry about. Sleep more." And he did not forget to add the words of sleep more, despite his sleepiness.
Joanna sighed at his effort to make her sleep more.
But then her restlessness surfaced again as the movements he applied to her body were re-activated.
"We have to wake up, Sir Canillas. You can sleep more in the carriage." Joanna spoke with a grunt again as she still uselessly pushed the body of the man, which was as strong as his will to get back into slumber.
"It is not comfortable to sleep in the carriage. It is better to sleep like this. Sleep more," Canillas replied, still in a sleepy tone, cuddling his writhing wife in his arms.
And the word of sleep more was there again.
"If you refuse to wake up, you can sleep here yourself and go to the capital with Thunder’s brother, sister, or friend. I am leaving with my father."
As Joanna knew that the cunning man was so stubborn to sleep more, like his non-stop suggestion in his sleepiness, she exerted all of her strength to free her body from his embrace this time.
But in a blink of an eye, before Joanna could exert all her strength as she planned to, a sharp gasp came out of her lips as her body was suddenly pushed, and she now lay on her back, not on her side anymore, with an additional weight on top of her.
Startled, Joanna opened her eyes wide, looking straight up at the face that was a few inches away from hers.
There was no trace of sleepiness she felt anymore. Even the anger that was boiling inside her was forgotten.
All that was left was nervousness and anxiety about what was going to happen next when the face above hers dauntingly came closer, as if ready to take all her breath away without any remnant left.
