The General's Wife Wants to Leave-Chapter 148: The more daring approach
Chapter 148: The more daring approach
The room was quiet, devoid of any coherent sound.
No voice was heard. No one was talking. No one was whispering.
Only two pairs of gleaming eyes were speaking to each other, conveying unspoken words that each expected to be understood in the subdued air.
One wanted to be freed, while the other was unwilling to let go.
And the one who wanted to be freed tried to pose a daring move, holding the other’s gaze, which was unwaveringly aimed at her.
It was so intense, just like every time it was aimed at her, as it always tried to pierce deep inside her soul. Even the minimum amount of light could not resist her feelings to perceive the intensity.
But she tried to compose herself this time, not willing to succumb, despite her fervor to vanish from his sight, as her opponent had taken advantage of her defenselessness, and she wanted to reprimand him by holding his gaze on hers.
It was Joanna’s determination, as she also tried not to quiver, even though the face above hers was only a hair’s breadth away from hers.
His breath tickled her face. She also thought that hers might be so to him. But still, no words were formed by him.
Fortunately, although he was on top of her, he did not put all his weight on her.
But until when would they remain in this position?
A thought then came to her mind. If someone entered the room and witnessed this scandalous position, the question that would arise in the near future was: when would the baby come into the world? frёeωebɳovel.com
Joanna sighed inwardly at the thought. She also sighed while thinking about how adamant the man above her was to create such an intimate gesture between them.
The realization then followed the thought. The longer they interacted with each other, the more daring approach and mind-blowing intimacy he created between them.
And their current position was the most intimate yet the most dangerous so far. It was dangerous to the point that if she did not take a stance immediately, the question about babies would indeed be around the corner.
It was then that she belatedly realized where her hands lay during her staring contest with the man above her.
Hastily, Joanna withdrew her hands from Canillas’ shoulders and brought them above her chest, only to meet the throb of her heart.
Another sigh was breathed inwardly by Joanna for how easily her heart throbbed lately when he was around her, attacking her with anything that was contradictory to her wish.
"Look at me, Joanna."
The first words were heard after an obstinate silence grew between Joanna and Canillas, which made Joanna realize that she had broken her gazing contest and had her eyes stared into nowhere but her hands that were on her chest, underneath which her heart was throbbing.
Looking up at Canillas, Joanna saw him talk to her. "As my wife, you should go anywhere you are with me, your husband. Isn’t it for that reason that a married couple lives together under the same roof?" Canillas brought up his point of view as if to remind his wife, who preferred to be away from him, leaving him alone without any concern left behind.
"You lied to me," Joanna responded to his remark in a firm tone, to which Canillas slightly tilted his head as if questioning her accusation.
"You broke your word not to touch me without my permission. You took advantage of me when I was sleeping," Joanna said, glaring at him before placing her hands back on his chest to repeat the same thing, although it only resulted in nothing as he did not budge even the slightest, but dangerously diminishing all the space with her body.
"Let go of me now!" demanded Joanna, writhing her body, which was trapped under a large build on top of her. But still, it resulted in nothing.
Smiling as he now had the insight of her fury, Canillas said, "I didn’t lie to you." His tone of voice stayed calm in contrast to that of his angry wife. "I did promise not to hold your hand without your permission, and I kept my word, although it sounded insensible to me. But if you remember well, did I say yes to not touching you without your permission, including when you are sleeping?" Canillas uttered, looking at the upset lady beneath him.
"Push your anger aside first so you can recall everything that you need to remember so you stop blaming this poor husband of yours," Canillas suggested when he saw his angry wife still show her protesting glare.
Finding Joanna’s demeanor shift, as she seemed to recall if he said the truth, Canillas spoke more. "I didn’t and couldn’t agree on that request. How can I, a husband, agree to an absurd request not to touch my own wife, where I have the right to?"
Sticking his gaze around Joanna’s face, Canillas raised one of his hands, while the other one still rested on the bed beside Joanna’s head, where his elbow was used as a support to prevent his heavy body from pressing down on her.
He then brought his raised hand close to Joanna’s face, only to cause her to flinch, to be followed with her eyes wide open when his fingers touched her face as they were moving to remove a few strands from her forehead, temples, and down her cheeks.
Ignoring the way Joanna’s eyes widened as a reaction to his surprising conduct, Canillas kept on showing his affection to her this time. There was no sign of retreat, as he usually did.
And he smiled, stopping his fingers from tucking her hair behind her ear when his wrist was grabbed by a hand, which was a contrast to his tanned and rough one.
"Now you realize that it is impossible not to hold your spouse’s hand or touch your spouse’s body part," Canillas remarked, and he chuckled when his wrist now felt empty as the owner of the hand seemed to be hit by his words.
As his wrist was now freed as nothing held it anymore, Canillas resumed to do the thing that he had always wanted to do to the enigmatic lady beneath him.
