THE GOD EATER-Chapter 156 - 12 Large.
But before Muni could do that, Slav had also recognized his aura and thought that it was bad, so Slav blinked and appeared behind Muni. This action caused everyone to focus on Slav now instead of Loki.
As this happened, Loki groaned inwardly and said to himself, "I need a way to hide my cultivation."
Unfortunately for him, that sentiment was too late right now. The ship had sailed, so to speak, and there was no going back.
Slav changed in ways that he still couldn’t figure out why. Then Slav found an excuse to leave.
He knew that Slav was trying to escape, but he didn’t do anything to stop Slav from leaving. He didn’t want to be entangled with Slav at all, so he watched the young odd man disappear as soon as the door of the awakening room was opened.
The only thing he did was use up one of his three tracking marks to keep an eye on Slav. This filled him with confidence about his chances of getting Slav in the future.
He gained the third tracking mark after he advanced to rank 3. But even with this extra one, he was giving up 33% of his surveillance just for a slim chance of getting Slav.
However, he doesn’t regret this at all. In fact, he thought that it was a good idea to do so and would have used up a single tracking mark if it were all he had because Slav is his golden goose.
There was another reason he decided that it was a must for him to track Slav. That reason tickled his mind as he thought to himself, saying, "At least, this way I will be able to see him coming if he decides to kill me."
The ability to teleport unnerved him a little bit. Slav could just appear behind him and take his head off. He didn’t want that to happen, so he was willing to sacrifice all of his tracking marks to monitor Slav.
This was what he was thinking about after Slav disappeared. Muni, on the other side, was smiling as he said, "That’s even better. This way, I can say that I don’t know where he is or where he went with certainty when they ask me. It is so much better. How considerate of that boy."
Muni’s previously bad mood cheered up after Slav disappeared, and he finally had the mind to bother with the rest of the group. He spoke to them for a while before leading them out of the awakening room.
Muni didn’t give them any of his usual speeches. He just led them to their apartments as soon as they left the awakening room.
Of course, only Loki knew that they had missed something. The others didn’t know that Muni usually gave a speech to encourage them after the awakening, so they didn’t feel that there was anything odd about the situation.
After Muni had dealt with everyone else, he turned to Loki and said, "I have to take you out of the initiation program to register you at the sect grounds. I’m sure you know how this goes. You clearly don’t need any initiation."
Loki did the same thing that he always did. He asked for six hours and access to the market. From there, he loaned 100,000 energy stones, which he quickly turned into 1 million energy stones.
With the 1 million energy stones, he paid for the loan and paid his awakening debt. Then he signed himself up for the sect army before going to the market to gamble.
This time, he didn’t lose any money while gambling. He was able to turn his 800,000 energy stones into a lot more by making two bets in a row of 3 and 5 odds, respectively, with all of his money.
The first bet turned the 800,000 energy stones into 2.4 million energy stones. The gambling house still allowed him to continue gambling with the hopes of getting back all the money, but instead of losing, he turned the 2.4 million into 12 million.
At this point, they became enthusiastic about his staying. They even promised to pamper him with food, drinks, and women, but he didn’t dare to stick around after fleecing them of so much money.
It was unlikely that they would be able to get the money from the bus account, but he was unwilling to risk any danger to his person, so he ran away as soon as he got the chance.
His next destination was the information broker. He had something he wanted to know, so he decided to give them an opportunity to cheat him out of some money.
Since he knew his way around, he went to the same booth that he used in the last timeline. The same androgynous voice was there to welcome.
The voice said, "What can I do for you, honored customer?"
This voice reminded him of the money that he lost in his last life, so his heart twitched a little bit because of the phantom pain. But he quickly calmed himself down enough to get what he came to do.
He said in reply, "I want to know why information about Life Abilities is to be kept a secret and why mutated Life Abilities are kept even more hidden."
The voice said, "That’s two different pieces of information, honorable sir. Both of them will cost you separately."
This response made him roll his eyes and say, "Why am I not surprised?"
But he trusted their impeccable service, so he gritted his teeth and said, "How much?"
The voice said, "Each piece of information will cost you 1 million energy stones."
This price made him stand up abruptly and glare at the screen before him as he said, "1 million energy stones? What could be so important when information about how to advance to rank 4 is only 100,000 energy stones?"
The person on the other side said, "Please lower your voice, sir. You are shouting and causing a scene."
