THE GOD EATER-Chapter 183: No Reason.
Even a rank 4 giant that gets hit by an attack with a power of 7,815 units would die in one blow. So a rank 3 cultivator like Greg hiding within the cockpit of the mech would fare worse if the attack had struck him. Not only would he have died, but even his corpse would be scattered and mangled.
Even though the first attack failed to kill Greg, Loki still had the absorbed second attack to enhance his power. So he was able to give it another shot by jumping towards the silver mech.
The mech tried to protect itself by blocking with its large shield. But the sword was able to cut through the shield and the arm holding it.
At the end of the day, the mech was able to escape and create even more distance between them. But what saved the mech wasn’t the strength of the shield or the strength of the arm holding the shield. It was the length of the arms of the mech that saved the mech.
Because the mech was so large, Loki’s sword couldn’t reach Greg easily. The sword had to cut through a lot of stuff in its way, which allowed Greg to barely escape.
Greg recognized this fact and the fact that if he allowed this kind of thing to continue to happen, he would lose his life. After all, he already lost one shield, one arm, and one sizeable chunk of the body of the mech.
If each of Loki’s attacks continued to chip at him like this, he would die in less than ten more attacks. Unfortunately, he had already used all of his power and had nothing left to give, so he quickly decided to do something that he didn’t think he would have to do to someone like Loki.
His voice reached out from the mech suit, saying, "How about we stop here?"
Loki found it amusing that Greg was saying this just after he swore to kill Loki. As amusing as this was, he didn’t plan to stop for anything.
So, after his clash with Greg, and he began to fall back to the ground, he created bladed wings behind him and activated the forcefield around them to gain thrust.
Once the wings got to work, he stopped falling. Then he rose into the air and chased after Greg.
Greg saw this and felt bitterness well up in his mouth. He swallowed hard before saying, "Why are you doing this?"
This time, Loki was so amused that he laughed. His laughter was cold, though. It was a kind of laughter that didn’t reach his eyes. While his lips were laughing, his eyes were full of killing intent.
As he laughed, he said to Greg, "Take a guess. Why would I suddenly want to kill you? Surely, I can’t be crazy and want to kill you for no reason. Surely, you couldn’t have been minding your business when I suddenly decided to kill you."
His voice was full of sarcasm, but even without the sarcasm, Greg would have known that he was at fault here, not Loki. But the sarcasm helped jog Greg’s memory about how Loki had been minding his business before he set the cannon on him.
However, even if this is the case, Greg still wasn’t willing to die. So he continued to encourage Loki to stop. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
When talking reasonably didn’t work, and Loki continued to try to get close to him, he became frustrated to the point that he decided to let loose all of his ranged weaponry.
Missiles were fired first. Both the vertical and horizontal tracking missiles were used.
Then the two grenade launchers were used. The silver mech giant pointed them at Loki and fired them at Loki. Explosive balls of death erupted from the two giant barrels and exploded immediately they came close to their target.
These worked somewhat in that the explosives were too many for Loki to deal with. He couldn’t avoid all of them, and he certainly couldn’t send all of them back to their sender. He just had to take them head-on.
The grenades were the most troublesome to deal with. This was because they didn’t even touch him before they exploded. They always exploded when they got near him.
So he couldn’t stop them from exploding at all. What came into contact with him was the fire and force of their explosion, not the grenades themselves.
Fortunately, the fact that he can’t hit something doesn’t mean that he can’t absorb the power of their attack. As long as he is using the Reversal Metac, any external force that touches him can be absorbed. That is, of course, as long as his power is higher than the external force.
So even though he couldn’t send any of the grenades back and even though he could only return some of the missiles, he could still absorb their power and use them to enhance himself or enhance missles that he sent back to Greg.
The only problem was that he couldn’t absorb the power of attacks indefinitely. Since he was only at rank 3, he could only absorb and keep in storage a maximum of three attacks.
Once he reached this limit, the Reversal Metac would become saturated. At that point, he would have to use or release one of the attacks before he could absorb more.
As for surviving amidst the barrage of missiles and explosions, that was not a problem for him because the Shifting Armor was highly durable and because he had enough energy to support it and the Reversal Metac.
When all of these didn’t work, Greg resorted to throwing his giant spears at Loki. This move failed terribly because Loki was able to send them back to Greg with greater power.
Greg managed to dodge the spears, but the lack of success had succeeded in frustrating him. He screamed at Loki hysterically, saying, "Don’t push me too far. Don’t push me too far or I’ll..."
