THE GOD EATER-Chapter 182: Unnatural Things.
As the mech got close to him, Greg repeated what he had done earlier. He controlled the two right arms to thrust their giant spears one after the other at Loki’s face.
But this time, Greg made the mech attack from a higher angle, so that Loki would be pressed down when he is overwhelmed by the first attack, instead of being sent flying. This way, the second spear would be able to quickly nail Loki to the ground instead of missing like last time.
In response, Loki did the same thing. His left arm formed a large shield that he held to block the black spear.
What the bystanders saw was a silver and red giant mechanical weapon fighting a smaller but muscular black mechanical weapon. Both of them were humanoids, but one looked like it was bullying the other because of the difference in their size.
But as they watched, something unexpected happened. The small, muscular, mechanical humanoid weapon managed to block the attack of the white giant.
The weird part was that the smaller mechanical humanoid weapon didn’t seem to struggle to block the attack at all. Not only did it not jerk backwards after the giant spear with a spearhead the size of its head smashed into its shield, but even the ground beneath the feet of the smaller mech was not pushed down, cracked, cratered, or affected in any way by the residual power of the attack.
It was as if there was no force behind the attack of the silver giant at all. But even weirder was that the small mech counterattacked with its sword and managed to pierce the sword through the mech and shatter nearly half of it. Then the residual power of the attack sent the silver giant flying.
It was a comical sight that should have stunned them into silence and disbelief if not for the scream of the pilot within the silver giant mech. The scream was so high-pitched that they had block their ear in order to protect their eardrums from bursting.
Greg had shouted with all of his might as if someone he loved had died. He shouted, saying, "Loki!!!!!!!!!! I will kill you!"
"Did you hear me? I swear to kill you."
In response, Loki smiled and said, "So you know my name."
His voice came out muffled through his armor, so his voice sounded deeper than it was. This should have made it difficult to tell that Loki was amused, but Greg was able to tell, and it angered him even more.
But aside from anger, his mind was also full of confusion. This was because he didn’t understand what had just happened.
He had experienced it personally. After his first attack had struck Loki, the force of the attack had simply disappeared after striking his shield. It was as if what he had struck was foam, as the power of the attack had been swallowed completely.
The same thing had happened during the second attack. Then he had sensed danger as Loki thrust his sword at him. That unnatural behavior of his force had alerted him to danger, so he quickly took steps to avoid it.
Loki had been aiming for his head, where he was in his cockpit. If he hadn’t used the thrusters to shift the mech and dodge at the last moment, the sword would have killed him there and then.
Instead of impaling him through the cockpit, the sword had pierced the side of the silver mech. The power of that attack was so great that the defense of his precious mech had crumbled like paper before the mech was sent flying.
To be fair, the power of the attack hadn’t sent him backwards with that much force. He had been the one to engage the thrusters to go along with the pushing force and used it to create some distance between him and Loki. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Now that things had reached this point, Greg wanted to kill Loki as much as possible. But he was also regretting picking this fight because it appeared that he lacked the power to kill Loki and would have to suffer the damage to his ship and mech for nothing.
Unfortunately for him, the decision of whether this fight would continue or not wasn’t entirely up to him. Now that Loki had the upper hand, he wasn’t willing to let it go.
He bent his legs and jumped after the silver giant. He used the force of the silver giant’s second attack to enhance the power of his attack, so he was able to narrow the distance between them quickly.
The force of the shield that he used to block the first attack was (3(Telekinesis Metac) + 3(Reversal Metac)) × (4(Body) + 3(Mind) + 5(Life Ability) + 450% Energy Well) × (4(Body Lever) + 4(Living Armament) + 4(Energy Amplifier) +4(Force Lever)) × (250% Overdrive), which is 3,960 units.
This kind of power is all because of the Reversal Metac. This Divine Metac combines well with the Telekinesis Metac and lets him add the power of his mind to his power output. Without the Rewind Metac, his power output would only be 1,620 units, which is not enough to block the attack at all.
As impressive as the combination of the two pathways was, the power output was only a little more than the 3,855 units that Greg used. Despite the slight difference between them, the Reversal Metac was able to use this slight advantage to completely absorb all of Greg’s power and make it look like he was powerless against Loki.
The Reversal Metac was able to do this same thing to the second attack, too. Then Loki used the Reversal Metac to enhance his power by fusing the power of the first absorbed attack with his own of 3,960 units, to make an attack of 7,815 units.
This power was why the powerful silver mech was so overwhelmed. It was also why Greg felt overwhelming danger as the sword approached him.
