THE GOD EATER-Chapter 274: First Experiment.

The cannon worked in a way similar to his rail gun. It used electromagnetic force to accelerate an object to extreme speed at a target. The only difference was that the payload wasn’t a bullet like his rail gun. The cannon was shooting long, prismatic spears with drill bits at their tips at him.

Of these two new weapons, Loki only cared for the cannon. He didn’t like the energy shield because he already had it.

So he urged Rusty, saying, "If that is all that you’ve got, then you are doomed."

But Rusty didn’t have any more weapons to use. So he snarled at Loki and said, "Fuck you."

This made Loki shrug and say, "Just as well. It is time for you to die anyway."

After flying for so long, they have finally reached the forest outside of the city. So Loki didn’t have any scruples about using the Space Tear Metac.

He activated the Divine Metac and let the power to tear space that was granted to him coat his hands. Then he used the empowered hands to rip the black mech apart.

The process was as easy as opening a can of food. The mech came apart in his hands with a satisfying pop. Then the mech hissed as it died after its critical systems were crushed and cut open.

The feeling was too good for words. It made Loki say, "So that’s how it feels. It was truly worth the wait."

To be honest, he could have killed Rusty a long time ago. He could have crushed Rusty into a patty with the strength of his hands when he first grabbed the black mech. But he waited until they left the town so that he could test and confirm the effect of the Space Tear Metac.

Now that he has confirmed that the power of the Space Tear Metac is reliable and its effect during usage is not obvious when used, even if it is used against something powerful that is resisting him, he will be able to use it in future fights with confidence.

With his experiment done, he proceeded to grab Rusty’s head. Then he activated the Memory Read Metac. This caused the power of his mind to surge into Rusty’s mind and scour his memories for information.

He can’t read all of Rusty’s memories with this Metac, as Rusty’s mind can’t handle the invasion of external influence on his mind and the forceful search of his memories. So he has to pick the most important things to look for and hope to find them before Rusty’s mind shatters into pieces.

The first thing that he searched for was information about the rank 4 cultivators in the city of the Forging Pathway and Mind Hunter Pathway. He wanted to know their names, their power level, and where they live.

He searched for the rank 4 cultivators of only these two because there can’t be rank 4 cultivators for his other three pathways. In fact, he should be the only rank 4 cultivator of these three pathways in existence.

After he got the information about this next target for hunting, he searched for information on how to advance to rank 5. But the only thing that Rusty knew about this topic was that he could get the recipe to refine rank 5 Telekinesis Metac from the sect with grade 5 merit points.

Loki already knew this, so the information was useless to him. However, by the time he learned this, Rusty’s mind had reached its limit.

So his memories had become too scattered to read, and there was nothing left to learn from him. This made Loki scoff before he crushed the skull in his hand into pulp amidst Rusty’s cries of pain.

Rusty’s screams ceased immediately after his skull was crushed. This caused the forest to return to its state of quiet and tranquility. Only the calls and tweets of birds could be heard now.

But Loki didn’t appreciate the quiet at all. He quickly moved on to the next step, which was to use the Devouring Ability to extract Rusty’s energy well. He didn’t target the Core Metac like he always did, so Fenrir crushed the energy well after swallowing it.

Once the energy well was eaten, something that hadn’t happened before happened to him. The density of his internal increased.

The increase in the level of the density of his internal energy was minimal. It was only from level 13 to level 14. But this was a significant increase because it meant going from the early stage of rank 4 to the mid stage.

This made him smile and say, "So I was right. Fenrir can indeed increase cultivation now. I guess this means I don’t need Cloudy Dates anymore."

Then he glanced at the city and said, "I need two more rank 4 cultivators to reach the peak, though. So I hope the people who can help me are still in the city."

As it turned out, the people he needed were present in the city. And as usual, they didn’t want to give him their energy well.

He expected the resistance, and their resistance wouldn’t have mattered much if not for the fact that some of them were tricky to deal with. This was especially the case with the second rank 4 forger that he went to hunt.

There are two rank 4 forgers in the entire city. Of the two of them, only Rusty forges rank 4 mechs and uses them. The other rank 4 forger, Yvette, specialized in forging puppets and golems.

The puppets were weak, and he didn’t even need to fight them to take them down. He could use the Mind Stab Metac to break their weak minds or disconnect the control link between the puppets and Yvette.

The puppets had this weakness because Yvette was actively controlling them with her mind. But the golems were not being controlled, were autonomous, and had no minds to attack, so he had to take down the golems with brute force.
