The Greatest Village Doctor In The World-Chapter 146: Take this money and spend it!
At dusk, after Huaihua had her dinner, she told Aunt Guihua she was leaving and hurried out of the house.
Seeing her daughter all dressed up and going out, Aunt Guihua of course guessed what she was up to, so she followed her to the doorway and called out, "Girl, no need to rush back!"
"Oh my, Mom, what are you talking about!"
Huaihua’s face turned red, and she hurried away.
Aunt Guihua chuckled to herself, "Ling Feng is quite a good lad. If he ends up with my girl, she’ll be blessed in the future."
Arriving at Ling Feng’s home, Huaihua saw the door slightly ajar and softly asked, "Brother, are you home?"
"I’m here, come on in," Ling Feng called from the backyard.
Huaihua entered with a nervous air and went towards the back, "Brother, what are you doing?"
"Just sent off a truckload of vegetables. You’re here?"
Ling Feng smiled, noticing that her outfit today was different from before; she was even wearing a short skirt!
"Yeah, what did you want to talk about?" Huaihua asked, her face flushing as she noticed him looking at her legs.
"No rush, come sit inside first. I’ll be there in a moment after tidying up a bit."
After saying that, Ling Feng took the hose towards the vegetable garden.
He had harvested another batch of vegetables in the afternoon and had scattered new seeds in the field. To ensure they grew quickly, the watering couldn’t stop.
Once he finished, Ling Feng went back inside to wash his hands and saw Huaihua looking rather awkward, so he smiled and patted her head, "What’s this? Nervous at my place?"
"No, not at all," Huaihua said with a flushed face.
"Your tuition for this year’s not a problem, right?" Ling Feng asked, sitting across from her.
"Yeah, didn’t you lease our land? You gave my mom several tens of thousands at once, enough for my schooling," Huaihua said gratefully.
Ling Feng laughed, "That’s good. How much was your living expense every month before?"
"Six hundred."
Ling Feng was taken aback, "That little?"
"It’s enough, just for eating. There are no other expenses," Huaihua said.
"What about when school starts this time? Isn’t Aunt Guihua planning to give you a bit more?" Ling Feng asked.
"No, there’s no point in taking more. As long as it’s enough, that’s fine."
"How can that be enough!"
As he spoke, Ling Feng stood up and went into the inner room to rummage around, but finding no cash at home, he turned back and said, "Give me your phone."
"Huh? What for?" Huaihua asked, stunned.
"Just give it to me, be obedient," Ling Feng said with a smile.
After getting her phone, Ling Feng transferred money and then directly accepted it on her mobile.
When Huaihua saw the transaction record show an income of ten thousand yuan, she was immediately flabbergasted!
"This..."
"This is your allowance from your brother. You must spend it all this semester, or you’re not allowed to come back!" Ling Feng said with a smile, his eyes filled with indulgence.
To prevent Huaihua from declining, he took her phone and accepted the money himself.
Feeling moved by Ling Feng’s words, Huaihua bit her lip, "Brother, I can’t use this much money!"
"Nonsense, a girl as lovely as a flower in the prime of her youth can easily spend that amount. Not just ten thousand, but even a hundred thousand can be spent—you should buy some nice clothes, skincare products, anything you need. If it’s not enough, just tell me!"
Ling Feng spoke carelessly, like a nouveau riche.
Truth be told, he had grown up with Huaihua since they were kids and knew her character well. It was only after meeting Mo Jiaolan and Chen Yuhe that he realized how young girls like to doll themselves up.
So after making the comparison, Ling Feng felt that Huaihua was too outdated. It used to be for economic reasons, but now that he had money, of course, he wanted her to have a better life.
Huaihua bit her lip. Among her classmates, she had the smallest allowance; seeing other girls frequently buying clothes and cosmetics, it was impossible to say she wasn’t envious.
But she also knew her family’s circumstances. Envy was just envy; she never thought about competing with others. She only wanted to study hard and, after graduation, with her earnings, she could buy whatever she wanted.
Now, seeing Ling Feng’s concern for her, Huaihua was so moved she couldn’t speak, and her eyes brimmed with tears.
"Silly girl, don’t shortchange yourself when you’re out there. Buy more good food, okay? Have you got it?" Ling Feng asked with a smile, seeing she didn’t reply.
"Brother, thank you," Huaihua said, her eyes reddening.
"You don’t need to thank me. You’re in your third year now, right? I’ll take care of your living expenses every semester from now on!" Ling Feng declared with a grand gesture.
"But, I don’t know how I can ever repay you!"
Ling Feng was taken aback, "Repay what? Just focus on your studies. That’s the best repayment for me!"
Seeing that it was getting late, he stood up and said, "Alright, you have school tomorrow. You should head back now, or Auntie Guihua will start worrying."
Upon hearing this, Huaihua slowly got up, hesitated for a moment, and said, "My mom told me not to rush back home... "
"Hm?"
Ling Feng was stunned for a moment, then he realized what was happening; this was clearly an intentional matchmaking attempt.
Seeing Huaihua’s bashful demeanor, it was impossible for him not to be moved!
But he had just given her ten thousand yuan for her living expenses. If he did something now, what would that make him?
So the only thing Ling Feng could do was smile, ruffling Huaihua’s hair. "You should still go back. When I have some time after a while, I’ll come visit you in the provincial capital." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Really?"
Huaihua looked up, surprised and asked earnestly.
"Of course, I’ll come after this busy period is over. I still don’t know what a university campus looks like!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.
"Great, I’ll show you around when you come!" Huaihua said, smiling brightly.
Looking at her smiling face, Ling Feng couldn’t help but pinch her nose, "It’s a deal!"
After that, he walked Huaihua back to her house and waited for her to go inside before he turned and left.
However, he didn’t go home, but to Li Shiyun’s place.
Zhang Lan had left when she came by, and he hadn’t seen Shiyun all afternoon, not knowing what she was busy with.
Arriving at her dormitory door, Ling Feng knocked.
"Come in, the door’s not locked," Li Shiyun called from inside.
Ling Feng entered and found her sitting at a desk, surrounded by a pile of files, frowning in concentration.
"What’s the matter? You didn’t come to my place this afternoon. What are you researching?" Ling Feng asked as he approached.
"Files from the town, they’re asking for a census of the impoverished population. I had no idea until I looked, but our Shiliu Village is really poor. Look at these forms!"
Ling Feng took a glance and then laughed, "I don’t need to look to know the situation in the village. You don’t need to worry; things will get better soon!"
Li Shiyun looked puzzled, "Why?"
"I’ve made a deal with the Luo Family. They’re starting a mine, and I’m buying into it. They’ll give me a monthly dividend of one million yuan."
Seeing Li Shiyun’s continued confusion, Ling Feng went on, "I plan to take a portion of that money and distribute it among everyone!"
"What?"
Li Shiyun’s eyes widened in astonishment, "You’re going to distribute it every month?"
"Exactly. After all, I just got lucky. The wasteland actually belongs to everyone; how could I keep it all to myself?" Ling Feng said with a smile.
Li Shiyun glanced at him skeptically and shook her head, disagreeing with the idea, "I don’t think it’s a good idea. Doing that might just foster dependency in some people. Don’t you understand the principle ’a gift of rice is a favor; a load of rice is a grudge’?"
