The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 471- Convenient Shadowbands
Chapter 471: Chapter 471- Convenient Shadowbands
"Wait! Are we going to that floating island?!" frёewebnoѵēl.com
"We are?!"
"That’s awesome, I want to see what that place is like!"
Another uproar happened among the disciples on the deck as they realized the ship was starting to float upwards instead of heading for the city below.
As the disciples expressed their excitement behind him, Sol silently watched as the ship moved through the low-level clouds and then drifted towards the floating island.
As one would expect from such a place it looked like a forgotten paradise. Just from observing a small portion of the island, one could see several magnificent pavilions scattered about. However, aside from the front that had a clearing, perhaps to welcome guests, the inner layout of the island seemed to blend with nature. Among the magnificent pavilions, many forest trees towered above them, some of the pavilions were even created around these trees.
Sol observed these buildings and realized they weren’t dissimilar to the buildings over in Jianghu. This goes to show that the Land of Shadows and Jianghu shared commonalities. Now Sol wondered what other commonalities they shared, and of course, he wanted to see how they differed as well.
Sol wasn’t the only one who was eager to leave the ship and explore the Land of Shadows. For many of the disciples here, this was their first time visiting this place. No, this was the first time they even left Jianghu, excitement was an understatement when describing their current sentiments.
Soon enough the massive ship stopped at the edge of the floating island, right next to the first ship that had left Jianghu and arrived before them.
Just as the disciples’ eagerness to disembark was reaching its peak, Elder Linhu and Dongzhu appeared floating above the front of the deck. At the same time, the barrier around the ship lifted, causing intense wind to violently flap the disciples’ robes.
"Disciples of Jianghu raise your heads, we have reached the Land of Shadows!"
Elder Linhu shouted as he formed a hand seal. With his hand seal, a golden road leading from the front of the ship’s deck down to the island formed with a resplendent light.
Elder Linhu and Elder Dongzhu landed on golden road and began walking towards the island.
Sol floated up into the air and over the ship’s railing to land on the golden road. The others did the same before following Elder Linhu and Elder Dongzhu towards the island.
The disciples couldn’t help but feel their entrance was quite impressive. As Elder Linhu said, they raised their heads as high as they could while they disembarked the ship. The disciples in the Spiritual Realm were the first to fly over to the golden road and disembark, the Mortal Realm disciples who had to jump over the ship’s deck were the last to leave.
On this long road, thousands of disciples could be seen strutting down toward the island. Their robes flapped wildly in the wind, while a few of them had their weapons strapped to their waists. This undoubtedly made them look extraordinary.
At the end of the golden road, Sol and the others were the first to step onto the island.
Along the walk down, Sol had been observing Elder Linhu. His aura was still slightly unstable, but it seemed his injuries were healed somewhat. Sol also noted the slight distance between Elder Linhu and Elder Dongzhu as they walked ahead.
’So even in this situation, there are people who would do something so foolish rather than thinking of the bigger picture."
With people like Elder Dongzhu in power, Sol had to wonder how the Jeagal Clan made it thus far. Perhaps they have a few competent people to offset these people’s stupidity.
Sol thought about Wei-sun and was more confident this was the case.
Sol soon came out of his thoughts and decided to put this matter behind him for good, it wasn’t necessarily his place to concern himself over the Holy Sects and Great Clans politics just yet. Instead, he began looking around the coble stone clearing.
The clearing was extremely wide and could likely hold everyone on the ship. Up ahead the clearing converged into a slightly smaller path that had a few steps leading further onto the island. Sol could see a few outlines of pavilions from this position.
He and the others had to make space for the disciples behind them, so they continued forward. The disciples immediately behind them started spreading out like a fan, filling up the wide clearing. Soon, all the disciples were off the ship and the golden road started dissipating.
A cacophony of noise echoed out as the disciples started chatting among themselves. Most of them were wondering why they came here; some speculated it was to discuss more about the tournament while others just thought it was merely to formally welcome them. Either way, it seemed like they had to wait here for a bit as Elder Linhu addressed them saying to stay within this clearing.
During this time, Sol and the others were at the front of the clearing. Elder Linhu and Dongzhu had already taken the road ahead and left for the time being.
"Brother Ushi, why are we gathered here?"
Cheong-su turned to ask Ushi who was standing next to Yoon-jae. Everyone turned to him, and he explained.
"Things are a bit different in the Land of Shadows. We’ve never welcomed so many people at once, so we had to work overtime creating new Shadowbands."
"Shadowbands? What are those?"
Woo-seong, who stuck close to Sol, asked with a bit of confusion in his voice.
Ushi nodded and said.
"Think of them as the disciple tokens you would receive after entering the Academy. It works in the same way as it’s going to register you to our system, wherein you’ll be able to do a lot of things like purchase stuff without physical Aether Stones."
"Huh? How would that work?"
Mar-Dule, being the only one still drinking wine, paused for a moment to ask this question.
Ushi thought for a moment but soon said.
"It’s a bit complicated, but to put it simply you can leave your Aether Stones at our banks, and with the Shadowbands you can access those Aether Stones to make purchases. It’s similar to what the Jeagal Clan is doing with paper notes, it’s easier to use Shadowbands for purchase than carry around large sums of Aether Stones. Plus, it’s safer as well as no one will be able to rob you clean."
Hearing Ushi’s explanation, the group somewhat understood the concept. However, Mar-Dule snorted and said annoyed.
"That’s too complicated, and what if those banks or whatever decided to keep my Aether Stones, what will I do then? Gathering all those Aether Stones from so many people in one place is just asking for someone to rob the place clean in itself. I still prefer carrying my own stuff than leaving it to someone else."
Ushi chuckled.
"Of course, those possibilities exist, but with my Miura Clan’s power and influence would anyone dare try to steal from us?"
Mar-Dule paused at that. It was true. With the Miura Clan’s reputation, it was suicide trying to steal from them, especially when they were a Clan of lethal assassins. However, Mar-Dule still shook his head and chose to stick to his initial stance on the matter.
After listening to Ushi’s explanation, Sol couldn’t help but ask.
"Is your Miura Clan thinking of using this tournament to expand the use of those Shadowbands?"
Ushi smiled as he turned to Sol and gave him a slight nod. He was then about to say a few words pertaining to this, but a shout suddenly thundered across the clearing.
"WHA-WHAT THE FUCK?! WHAT EXACTLY HAPPEN TO THE SHIP?!!"
