The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 474- Finding A Kindred Spirit
Chapter 474: Chapter 474- Finding A Kindred Spirit
"When did I say that? Plus, it’s obvious that this thing is going to be used during the tournament, so we have to wear it, right?"
Altair turned to Sato, and Sato nodded.
"Your Shadowbands will play many roles in this tournament. A small example is that they will be responsible for tallying up your points during the first stage of the tournament."
Quilt was now able to understand Jianghu’s language which Sato was speaking in rather than the native language of the Land of Shadows, and his face turned ugly when he heard his words. However, he hurriedly started looking around to see if he could find the Shadowband he had arrogantly thrown away moments ago. Thankfully, someone behind him had caught it before it could get far.
After receiving his Shadowband and putting it on, Quilt folded his arms and tried not to show his embarrassment. However, it was hard as Altair was constantly snickering next to him. Now he wondered if Altair had purposely set him up. Quilt couldn’t help but grit his teeth when he thought of that.
After a few more words from Sato detailing a few functions of the Shadowband, the disciples were finally able to head for the city below.
"So, this thing can actually translate different languages?"
Mar-Dule asked while tapping the Shadowband on his forehead.
Sol glanced at Mar-Dule and suddenly spoke using the native language of the Land of Shadows.
"Does it really work?"
Mar-Dule blinked before nodding.
"I don’t understand the Land of Shadows language all that well, but for some reason, I understood what you said perfectly. However, it’s weird, I’m hearing one thing, but my brain is thinking something else."
Sol nodded with a smile. Then as if recalling something, he turned to Cheang-su and Cheang-san before asking.
"I forgot to ask, but where is Brother Dae Han? Has he already arrived in the Land of Shadows?"
Sol was still speaking in the Land of Shadows language, as he unconsciously decided to use it while he was here.
Cheong-su nodded and said with a smile.
"He said he’ll meet us here, and knowing him, I think he already has in his disguise."
"Haha, Fourth Brother, you know me too well!"
A voice suddenly sounded from the side, and everyone turned to see Dae Han walking over. However, everyone was shocked by his appearance. It was the robes worn by the servants that handed out the Shadowbands to everyone, he even held a tray in his hands as he came over.
Seeing everyone’s shocked expressions, Dae Han laughed once again and said.
"I even went out of my way to specifically hand out these Shadowbands to everyone hoping one of you would recognize me, but none of you did. I feel a bit hurt by that, especially you Brother Sol, I was sure you would have easily figured it out."
As Dae Han pursed his lips, Sol and the others were taken aback by his words, but no matter how much they thought about it, the person who handed them their Shadowbands looked nothing like Dae Han except for his clothes and hair. However, upon further thought, they realized they weren’t exactly paying attention to his face, and adding his ability to change his aura, it was no wonder they didn’t recognize him. Dae Han had blended with the servants so seamlessly even Sol and the others who knew him personally didn’t recognize him.
"I guess your ability to disguise your aura has surpassed my own. I really didn’t realize it was you despite being aware of my surroundings."
Sol said with a forced smile, but Dae Han seemed to take pride in his words as his pursed lips cracked into a smile.
After Sol had crushed his ego when they first met, Dae Han considered this as payback.
Coming out of his surprise, Cheong-san was the first to step forward to hug Dae Han.
"Haha, Fifth Brother, you’ve gotten taller than before."
Cheong-san was among the tallest in the group, being around the same height as Mar-Dule. After Cheong-san, Cheong-su and Byeong-ho stepped forward.
Smiling, Sol asked.
"Brother Dae Han, it’s good to see you, but when did you become a servant for the Miura Clan?"
Dae Han suddenly smiled slyly and said.
"Who said I became a servant here? I just snuck in to meet you guys. Well, I was always here, I was just waiting for you all to arrive."
Ushi, who was off to the side, immediately furrowed his brows when he heard that.
"Snuck in? That’s impossible."
Dae Han paused before looking over at him.
"And you are?"
"Ha? You’re asking me who I am? I should be asking who you are after claiming that you snuck into my Clan."
Upon hearing that, Dae Han was taken aback, but he stepped forward and looked at Ushi a bit closely. A sudden realization hit him, and he immediately released an uproarious laughter before saying.
"Oh, so it’s the Miura Clan’s only Young Master! I recognized you from that portrait you have hanging over your bed. However, it was of you when you were younger, so I didn’t recognize you at first."
"Wha-What did you just say?!"
Ushi couldn’t stop his eyes from going wide, and he looked at Dae Han with incredulity as well as a hint of embarrassment.
’Just who is this person?’
Similarly, everyone was taken aback by Dae Han’s words.
While smiling, Dae Han explained.
"It took me a month of planning, but it wasn’t hard sneaking in. I just changed my aura to deceive the initial scan of the formation surrounding this island and once I was in, I created a few identities that I could use to come and go whenever I liked. I initially came here after we separated a year ago Brother Sol, and I thought we would only meet back in Pearl City, but who would have thought a tournament was going to be held here allowing us to meet like this."
Ushi’s expression changed when he heard that, and he pointed at Dae Han before saying.
"You-Are you saying that you’ve been in my Miura Clan for a year? But that’s impossible! The Formation might be lax allowing you to enter, but it does a thorough scan of everyone on the island every two weeks and those without the Miura Clan’s bloodline are identified and thoroughly investigated each time!"
Dae Han waved his hand dismissively.
"That was a bit tricky to deal with at first, and I was almost caught during the first weeks here, but I discovered the guards here were considered to be the most loyal faction of the Miura Clan despite not having their bloodline. It’s because of this their identities aren’t questioned when leaving the island. It’s also because of this that they have control over the teleportation arrays leaving and entering the island. So, I just act as a servant normally and disguise myself as a guard to leave whenever there is a scan."
Ushi still shook his head vehemently, not fully believing Dae Han’s story.
"I said that’s not possible! Since the guards are in control of the teleportation arrays on the island, they’re under more scrutiny than anyone else. If one of them goes missing, or if there’s an extra guard, or even if one is acting weird, it will be investigated by my Clan! Despite their loyalty, we aren’t so foolish as to leave them with so much control over who gets to leave and enter the Clan without monitoring them."
Dae Han faintly smiled at Ushi before saying.
"You haven’t seen my acting skills, so you think it’s impossible for me to impersonate a guard after observing them for a few days."
Upon hearing that, Sol couldn’t help but recall that it was Dae Han who coached him on how to act when they carried out that scam in Pearl City. The others also recalled this fact.
However, Ushi was still unwilling to believe Dae Han’s words. Not because he thought Dae Han couldn’t sneak onto the island and stay here for a year, he had already come to terms with that, but because Dae Han had actually thought up a similar plan to what he had used to escape the island a year ago to visit the Martial Alliance Academy!
For some reason, Ushi could picture himself sneaking out of the island while walking past Dae Han who was about to secretly sneak onto the island. Both were in disguise and perhaps they had even greeted each other unknowingly.
Ushi almost wanted to laugh at this thought, and even though he was a little grumpy, he had to admit Dae Han’s skills were as good as his own, and he respected that. Perhaps he had even found a kindred spirit in this field.
Ushi’s gaze towards Dae Han began to change as he looked at him curiously. Dae Han too seemed to have similar thoughts as he was curiously looking at Ushi as well.
Soon a glimmer of light passed through the two youths’ eyes, and they suddenly smiled at each other. The others looked at this exchange with weird expressions.
"Okay, let’s not discuss a topic like this so openly." freewёbnoνel.com
Yoon-jae said cutting off the two and the others agree. They then conversed in pairs as they followed the crowd of disciples to leave the island for the city below.
