The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 475- Dreadful Summer Heat
Chapter 475: Chapter 475- Dreadful Summer Heat
"Shit! Just kill me, even death is better than this damn heat!"
Three youths from Jianghu entered a tavern some distance away from the teleportation array they took from the floating island. One was carrying one of their friends while the other was wiping his face and cursing from behind. All three youths were drenched in sweat as they made their way inside.
"Are you just going to complain, or are you going to help me?"
The youth carrying their gasping friend wasn’t faring well himself, so he was struggling just keeping his feet from giving out.
The youth complaining quickly stepped forward to help, but as they entered the rather small and already crowded tavern, they struggled passing tables without bumping into them.
Screech!
The youth who had been cursing the sun outside accidentally bumped into someone’s chair. The youth immediately turned to apologize but was tongue-tied by who he saw.
"B-Brother Sol? Ah, I apologize for bumping into you."
The youth hurriedly apologized after coming back to his senses.
Sol glanced up at the youth and forced a smile. His face and clothes were completely drenched like he had been doused with a bucket of water. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"No worries, I understand."
Seeing that Sol was similarly struggling with this heat, the youth couldn’t help but force an empathetic smile. He and his two friends also greeted Yoon-jae and the others that were around the table as well.
Sol and the others had reached Lunar City via teleportation, but not even an hour into their sightseeing stroll all of them began sweating buckets. Ushi suggested they rest at this tavern and the group immediately understood why upon entry. Turns out all of the buildings have formations surrounding them that lessen the heat somewhat. It’s not as effective as the formations surrounding the Miura Clan’s floating island, but it helped somewhat.
"You young ones are from Jianghu, right? I heard something about a tournament being held here. Here’s a word of advice from us natives, change out of those clothes you’re wearing, they won’t do you any good in our summer heat."
"Go get some of the ones sold in this city; you’ll thank us later!"
Sol’s group and the three youths all turned to a table nearby to see two adults who looked to be in their late thirties. Both were shirtless and instead of long-fitted pants, they were wearing shorts that stopped at their knees.
"Thank you, Seniors."
The youth who was cursing the heat and was now help carrying his friend, smiled and thanked the two men.
"Haha, you’re already thanking us. Here, we’re both finished with our drinks, come take our seats so your friend can rest."
The two youths who were carrying their friend forced a smile onto their faces as the two men got up. They were rather ashamed of themselves since it was obvious that these two were mortals from their lack of cultivation auras. They themselves were cultivators but they couldn’t even handle the summer heat better than mortals.
But in truth, Mortals did have it worse in the Land of Shadows during the summer than cultivators since they could use their Aether Energy to shield themselves somewhat. However, it should be mentioned that Aether Energy only lessened the heat and didn’t completely resolve the issue for them.
The Mortals here could handle the heat better than visiting cultivators like them because they were used to it. However, if a Mortal were to travel from Jianghu to the Land of Shadows during the summer, they would likely die from the unfamiliar intensity of the sun’s heat. Maybe only those from the Eternal Desert could adapt to it.
So, the cultivating disciples from Jianghu that came here are quite lucky to have Aether Energy to lessen the heat when normal Mortals would have died from it.
The two youths thanked the two men once again before they helped their friends sit down and ordered cool refreshments.
"The heat here is so different from our Eternal Desert. To combat the heat, we would wear specially made protective clothes, but here it’s the complete opposite."
Mar-Dule said, referring to the shorts and simple shirt he saw most people wearing outside. He thought it was weird at first but now he understood why. Even a single piece of clothing would become too much of an insulator for this dreadful heat to start roasting you alive.
Except for Ushi and Dae Han, all of them were already stripped down to their innerwear, any further and they would be exposing themselves. Only Mar-Dule had his shirt off, similar to the two adults from before and a few others in the tavern.
"Do you guys want to go buy some new clothes?"
Dae Han asked the group. He had already changed into a common set of clothes in Lunar City, a sleeveless shirt and shorts. He was similarly sweating, but he looked completely at ease.
"So we have to go back outside?"
Cheong-san’s soul message echoed out, and he sounded somewhat mortified at the idea of leaving the tavern.
"Second Brother, why didn’t you warn us beforehand?"
Cheong-su asked somewhat annoyed. Byeong-ho remained silent, but he also looked towards Dae Han with a discontented look. He had never left Jianghu like most kids his age, so he was clueless that he needed to wear specific clothes for the summer in the Land of Shadows. He never had to in Jianghu!
Dae Han laughed and responded.
"I honestly thought you guys would be prepared. Didn’t you read up on the Land of Shadows beforehand or have someone told you about the summers here?"
Suddenly, Sol and the others all turned to Ushi. Even Yoon-jae who he was busy fanning turned to look at him.
Having everyone suddenly staring daggers at him, Ushi froze. But soon he forced a smile and said.
"I honestly forgot."
Frowning, Mar-Dule looked at him fully clothed and without a drop of sweat on his forehead before saying skeptically.
"I’ve been to the Land of Shadows before but never in the summer, but you bastard, how come you’re not sweating even a drop?"
At Mar-Dule’s, words, everyone came to realize that Ushi was too comfortable in full robes as if the heat wasn’t affecting him.
Ushi smiled awkwardly before he pulled up his sleeves to show that he was wearing thin, skin-tight black clothes beneath.
"This is a suit made using a special material found in the Shadow Dimension called Dark Lunar Dust. It was originally created to facilitate my bloodline ability to copy appearances, but it also acts as an insulator that keeps my body at a regular temperature despite the outside environment."
"*Tsk*... How fancy, but where’s ours?"
Mar-Dule asked, and Ushi hesitated for a bit before saying.
"Actually, Dark Lunar Dust is the main ingredient used while making the clothes sold in the Lunar City, so our methods aren’t so different from your Barbarian Race. However, Dark Lunar Dust is extremely rare and only a few buckets worth is collected by my Miura Clan each time the Shadow Dimension is open. This amount doesn’t include the other powers. But as for this suit I’m wearing, it’s made completely out of Dark Lunar Dust, and it used up nearly half of the total supply of the Dark Lunar Dust our Miura Clan has collected the two times we’ve entered the Shadow Dimension."
Mar-Dule and the others couldn’t help but suck in a cold breath of air when they heard that before giving Ushi’s arm a few glances.
"If Dark Lunar Dust is that rare then that means the price for even a handful must be astronomical."
Sol said.
"That’s right, only half a fingernail’s worth is used when creating several kilograms worth of thread. So... this suit cost is a lot."
Everyone at the table went quiet.
A lot was an understatement, the price was simply incalculable.
This suit Ushi was wearing wasn’t made of thread. When he said it was made out of Dark Lunar Dust, he meant it was entirely formed from Dark Lunar Dust. The others couldn’t imagine how much half a fingernail’s worth was used to make it.
"It looks like the Miura Clan is putting all their hopes on you."
Cian, who had only been silently looking around since disembarking on the ship, suddenly spoke up.
Ushi’s chest puffed out as he responded.
"It isn’t just their hopes, they’re putting everything else on me. But it’s obvious they would since my bloodline is the purest in the Clan’s history. I’m the only one in my Clan who has awakened the abilities I have after all."
"Hm? What abilities are those?"
Ushi glanced at Cian and said with a sneer.
"Why don’t you accept my challenge and find out?"
Cian smiled and casually responded.
"Why bother? If we meet in the tournament we can fight at that time."
"Coward."
Ushi said with a scoff.
"Forget it, let’s go purchase some new clothes. Even my Ice Aether Energy is useless against this heat. I can’t even cultivate here since it’s not the same as the Eternal Desert which has a high amount of Fire Aether Energy, instead, the heat is just a result of the damn humidity! Oh, you’re paying for all of us."
Yoon-jae said looking at Ushi as he stood up.
Ushi nodded, not minding.
However, as the group got up to leave the tavern, Mar-Dule suddenly paused and took out a jade slip. After reading the message that was just sent to him, his eyes lit up.
"Haha, I have to leave. You guys go on without me."
After saying that, Mar-Dule rushed past everyone and disappeared out of the tavern door.
Woo-seong watched as he left with a weird expression on his face.
"That person should be arriving around this time."
Ushi said with a chuckle as he looked at the tavern exit where Mar-Dule left. Everyone also gave a knowing smile.
