The Growth of a Titan-Chapter 478- A Game On The Beach
Chapter 478: Chapter 478- A Game On The Beach
The sounds of the waves crashing onto the shore could be heard, along with the noisy laughter and chatter of youths ranging from early teens to late teens. There were also some adults mixed within the crowd.
The vast blue behemoth named Lunar Ocean filled the entire horizon. Its waves washed up on the sandy beach shore that was currently filled with people seeking to cool down from the humidity. The slightly intense winds that would blow from the blue behemoth from time to time washed over them fulfilling their wish, although the wind also filled the air with a scent of saltiness.
Following the name Lunar Ocean, this beach was called Lunar Beach. It was a well-known beach due to it being a hot spot for people to visit in summer, as well as housing the Miura Clan’s Young Master’s private mansion.
Said mansion was located on the edge of the beach, built on the edge of the rocky cliffs nearby. Though it had the grandeur of a mansion, some of its designs were that of a villa that prioritizes comfort and relaxation. Evidence of this was the large balcony that hung over the cliff that allowed one to casually overlook Lunar Beach and the blue behemoth.
Even though this mansion and the land surrounding it were considered private, the nearby Lunar Beach was open to the public, especially on days like this in the summer.
The natives and visiting disciples from Jianghu who numbered in the thousands weren’t enough to fill Lunar Beach despite their numbers. But in one particular area on the beach closer to Ushi’s mansion, the crowd of youths was quite sparse. However, this was not due to the spot being unpopular or something else along those lines, but rather because celebrity-like figures were there playing a game native to the Land of Shadows.
But that wasn’t the entire reason.
Yoon-jae, Ushi, Cheong-su, and Cian were on one side while Mar-Dule, Woo-seong, Cheong-san, and Dae Han were on the other side. Between them was a net and spread around them for a few tens of meters was a square drawn in the sand to box them in.
Mar-Dule, holding a white ball with intricate black runes circulating on its surface, looked across the net at Yoon-jae’s group with an intense gaze.
In response, Yoon-jae rolled his eyes. At the same time Woo-seong and Dae Han, who were Mar-Dule’s teammates, were looking back at him with ugly expressions. Cheong-san in the middle and closer to Mar-Dule, forced a smile since he was caught in the middle of this.
As Mar-Dule’s gaze locked onto Yoon-jae’s group, he stood at the very end of the box surrounding them as he threw the ball high into the air.
"This bastard."
Dae Han couldn’t help but curse when he saw Mar-Dule’s actions.
With a leap, Mar-Dule’s tall frame reached twenty meters in the air, and with a powerful strike, he hit the ball sending it shooting over the net onto Yoon-jae and the others’ side.
Ushi snickered as the ball released a sonic boom and rapidly came at them like a comet. Without the slightest hesitation, his figure appeared below the white ball and with his hands together he tanked the hit with his forearms.
Ushi’s arms felt numb right after, but he was able to slow the momentum of the ball as it rebounded into the air. With perfect timing, Yoon-jae’s figure was already in the air to meet the ball with an equally terrifying strike.
Bang!
The ball shot back over to Mar-Dule and the other’s side, but Dae Han’s reaction wasn’t any slower than Yoon-jae’s as he appeared in front of Yoon-jae across the net to block the ball from coming over.
Due to Dae Han’s block, the ball spiraled back onto Yoon-jae’s side.
"I got it!"
Cheong-su yelled as he leaped forward, and before the spiraling ball could hit the ground his hand intercepted it. The ball rebounded off the back of his hand and Cian, who remained at the back, moved forward and spiked it towards Mar-Dule’s side. His target was obviously the area at the back Mar-Dule left open by jumping into the air. Poor Cheong-san tried to make up for Mar-Dule’s absence by going after the ball, but he had failed to anticipate its trajectory, and the ball successfully landed on their side.
"God Damn it, enough of that!"
Dae Han yelled angrily at Mar-Dule after he landed on the ground.
"Right! Why are you still making those plays after failing so many times?! You’re just leaving us to fend for ourselves!"
Woo-seong joined Dae Han in yelling at Mar-Dule.
In response, Mar-Dule snorted and said.
"My shots are perfect, you’re the ones who should hold out until I land but you can’t even do that."
"You-!"
"You-!"
Dae Han and Woo-seong were so angry they became speechless. Cheong-su had to be the one to step in once again and part the three youths before another fight broke out.
The disciples who were watching the game some tens of meters away all gulped down a lump of saliva. Just the winds generated by the ball being hit sent shivers down their spines. If that ball were to accidentally spiral towards them...
The crowd of youths took a few more steps back, not daring to get any closer.
A soft chuckle echoed out from the side as Mar-Dule and the others were arguing. Hua-yin, who was wearing a white bathing suit with rose-like layers on the top and skirt, sat under a large umbrella on a towel while watching the boys’ game.
Hearing Hua-yin’s laughter, Mar-Dule looked over at her with a toothy grin. He flexed his muscles and asked.
"Yin’er, did you see my power strike? How was it? Look, that bastard is still rubbing his arms."
Mar-Dule pointed at Ushi across the net who was rubbing his slightly numb forearms. He was boasting about his individual play even though his team had just lost after giving away that point.
Woo-seong and the others groaned internally at Mar-Dule’s words. They knew he was doing this on purpose, perhaps due to how they had made fun of him after he claimed he was together with the Dark Fairy.
Indeed, Mar-Dule was making up for every snide grin and amused chuckle they made towards him.
Woo-seong himself still couldn’t believe Mar-Dule was telling the truth. When he first saw Hua-yin it took a whole minute for his mouth to close due to shock. But even now as she sat there, Woo-seong wondered if he was seeing things. Though, he also couldn’t help but feel a bit envious, who would have thought a boorish Mar-Dule would get together with someone like the Dark Fairy? Following the rumors she was indeed beautiful like a fairy. No, the rumors might not have done her beauty justice.
