The Headline Queen: President Hawthorne is Her Die-Hard Fan!-Chapter 494: Where to Live
Jordan Yorke frowned, why didn’t Penelope Thatcher buy it for him?
Now that he had a job, he certainly needed to dress decently.
The few outfits he kept swapping around had been worn for ages, and if he continued, others would probably think he was a shabby guy with only a few sets of clothes.
He had always been waiting for Penelope Thatcher to remember to buy him clothes, but it seemed she had forgotten about him.
Now that she finally bought something, she only thought of buying for herself, not remembering him at all.
This woman squanders money, but only on herself, how selfish can she be?
His inexplicable resentment towards Penelope Thatcher grew stronger; he was finding it increasingly unbearable to stand her.
If Renee were in her place, she would definitely supply him with the best of everything without needing to be told, making sure he had nothing to worry about.
But a woman like Penelope Thatcher only thought of herself; what man would dare to marry such a woman?
Feeling angry, Jordan Yorke planned to go out and buy some decent clothes himself, but he didn’t have any money. After thinking it over, he picked up a set of jewelry that Penelope Thatcher had just bought.
The receipt for the jewelry was still there, and he decided to return it, thinking he could likely get back a good amount.
Then he could use the refunded money to buy some outfits, and wear them to the office tomorrow. His colleagues would probably envy him again.
Jordan Yorke hadn’t considered that Penelope Thatcher might get angry about what he was doing.
He thought there was no other choice.
After all, it was Penelope who forgot to buy him clothes first; otherwise, he wouldn’t have done this.
So it was all Penelope’s fault; she had no right to be angry.
Thus, Jordan Yorke took the jewelry and went out. He drove the car out of the garage, and not long after, before he found the jewelry store, he saw Renee Raines.
Renee was standing by the roadside, seemingly hailing a taxi.
Jordan Yorke couldn’t just watch his beloved girlfriend take a taxi, so he immediately drove over, rolled down the window, and called, "Renee."
Renee’s face lit up with a smile, "Brother Yorke, it’s you."
She discreetly glanced at Jordan Yorke’s car; for her family, the car was already expensive, but for a wealthy family, a car worth millions wasn’t impressive.
Renee thought Jordan Yorke could definitely afford a more expensive car, but chose one worth millions for the sake of modesty.
Millions was likely a low price for Jordan Yorke.
"Where are you heading, Brother Yorke?"
Jordan Yorke wouldn’t say he was on his way to return jewelry, so he said, "I’m just out casually strolling, didn’t expect to meet you. Get in, I’ll take you home."
Renee hurriedly got into the car and then showered Jordan Yorke with compliments.
"Brother Yorke, you look so handsome today."
"Brother Yorke, is this car yours? You bought it so quickly; you must be highly regarded at the company? I wasn’t wrong about you; Brother Yorke, you’re really a diligent and capable person."
Jordan Yorke had been praised by people at the company for some time, long having believed himself to be an exceptionally capable man.
Now being flattered by Renee made him even more elated, "Renee, you’re exaggerating; actually, I’m not as amazing as you think."
"To me, Brother Yorke is the best!" Renee said, "Every second with Brother Yorke makes me especially happy, so Brother Yorke, could you not take me home so soon and instead take me for a drive?"
Jordan Yorke nodded, "Okay, I’ll go wherever you want."
Renee immediately cupped her cheeks with her hands, stars in her eyes, "Brother Yorke, you’re so sweet; being with you is the luckiest thing of my life."
Jordan Yorke laughed; Renee was so easily satisfied, unlike Penelope Thatcher, who was so greedy.
Actually, being able to meet Renee was the luckiest thing for him.
Renee maintained her naive and sweet persona, always asking Jordan Yorke silly questions afterward.
But these questions were actually probing Jordan Yorke.
Jordan Yorke didn’t realize it and answered whatever Renee asked; gradually, Renee learned that Jordan Yorke had not only this car, but many others in his garage.
Jordan Yorke’s meals were practically indistinguishable from abalone and sea cucumber.
In short, it was a lifestyle only the wealthy could enjoy.
And now, this wealthy man loved her to death; with just a bit more effort, she could marry Jordan Yorke and successfully enter high society, becoming a noblewoman.
She had to hold on to Jordan Yorke, never letting another pretentious woman steal him away.
"Brother Yorke, I’ve never spent such a long time with you in the same space before; drive a bit slower, I want to make this happiness last longer."
"Silly girl, we have a lifetime to spend together; what are you rushing for?"
This silly girl was always so cautious, which inexplicably moved and endeared him.
"Brother Yorke, you’re really too good; sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve you."
As Renee spoke, she cried with emotion.
Jordan Yorke saw her crying and quickly reassured her, "Renee, don’t cry; I’m your boyfriend, it’s only right to treat you well, and Renee, you’re also very good to me. It’s thanks to your encouragement and trust that I am where I am today; without you, there’d be no me, so it’s me who should be thanking you."
Renee seemed amused by him and burst into laughter.
"Brother Yorke, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend; let’s not be so formal."
She tilted her head and laughed again, "Brother Yorke, I haven’t asked, do you live alone now?"
Jordan Yorke nodded, "Yes, I live alone."
"And your parents? Where do they live?"
Realizing she had probably asked too much, she quickly added, "I was just thinking if we get married, we should bring your parents over as well. They raised someone as outstanding as you; I should surely treat them well."
Jordan Yorke was delighted; Renee hadn’t even met his parents yet, but she was already thinking of honoring them as her in-laws. He really had found a good girl.
"Renee, my parents are back home; when I get settled here, I’ll bring them over to live with us. I might be busy with work then, so I’d have to trouble you with taking care of them."
"There’s no need to thank me; your parents are my parents, and of course I’ll treat them well."
She was still anticipating inheriting the inheritance from the in-laws, naturally she’d take good care of them.
"Brother Yorke, you’re so capable; buying a house and car at such a young age, your parents must be proud of you."
Jordan scratched his head, realizing he didn’t know Renee’s parents well, so he asked, "Renee, what kind of boy do Uncle and Auntie like?"
"Are you worried my parents might not like you? I’ve long told them about us; they know what kind of person you are and really like you. There’s no need to worry."
She then asked, "They don’t have many requirements for a son-in-law; as long as he’s filial, able to support himself, and treats me well, they’re satisfied."
