The Headline Queen: President Hawthorne is Her Die-Hard Fan!-Chapter 516: Anything You Want
"Paige Sterling, I’m not asking for your consent right now, I’m threatening you. Do you want your adorable little cousin to die in my hands?"
Henry Hale chuckled, "Those people protecting you have all been lured away by me. I know you have many skills to protect yourself. Now, take off your protective gear. I’ll give you two minutes, and if you haven’t done as I asked in two minutes, I will kill the child immediately."
Paige didn’t know Henry Hale well, but she understood one thing — Henry Hale is a ruthless person.
When confronted with someone both smart and vicious, there was no need for her to employ too many tricks, because playing tricks would mean angering the other party.
"Alright, I’ll do as you say."
Sonny Chambers stared at Paige in shock, then his eyes turned red.
His sister is so good, sob sob...
After Paige removed her protective gear, two people came out from behind Henry Hale, took out a device to scan Paige’s entire body to make sure she had no electronic equipment, then took out a vial of liquid, drew it into a syringe, and injected it into Paige’s body.
Throughout the entire process, Paige’s expression remained calm.
Henry Hale was still afraid of her, so even though she went with him, he was still not at ease and needed to control her with drugs. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
This was something developed by Henry Hale’s research lab, capable of causing prolonged muscle weakness, and with enough doses over time, it could even cause muscle atrophy, rendering someone disabled for life.
If Henry Hale really intended to keep her with him, he would undoubtedly continue to inject her.
But Paige was never afraid.
When she saw Henry Hale’s bodyguards approaching her cautiously, Paige said, "Hurry up, my arms are getting stiff."
The bodyguard, "..."
Sonny Chambers was still struggling in Henry Hale’s grasp, "Sister, don’t worry about me, sob sob, just go..."
He had such a good sister, he didn’t want her to die.
"Sonny Chambers, stop whining, your howling is annoying."
With this, Sonny Chambers, was momentarily struck with an odd sense of humor in that frozen, crying face.
After being injected with the drug, Paige’s whole body went limp, and she collapsed.
Henry Hale reached out to catch her, then picked her up and left.
By the time Julian Hawthorne realized something had happened to Paige, it was too late. Henry Hale had already left Jarrow with Paige.
Henry Hale hired over twenty people to impersonate him, each heading in different directions, so nobody knew which direction he had really taken Paige. Every time they tracked one direction, Julian had to send people there, wasting a lot of time, allowing Henry to escape.
Julian’s face was telling. He didn’t know what Henry Hale intended to do with Paige. He only found out from Sonny’s mouth that Henry had drugged Paige to take her away, and he could hardly bear it.
If Paige were to remain under Henry Hale’s control for a long time, he could hardly imagine the consequences.
So he had to come up with a plan to rescue Paige as quickly as possible.
Now, an ordinary, inconspicuous sedan was driving on a winding mountain road.
These segments have no surveillance, and the twisting roads easily confuse people. It’s evident that Henry had long planned his route with precision to ensure Paige’s abduction.
Paige leaned back in her seat, eyes closed, saying nothing.
Seeing her furrowed brow, Henry asked, "What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable somewhere?"
The initial trials of this drug had shown that some individuals might experience allergic reactions, and he was concerned Paige might be one of them.
When Paige didn’t respond, Henry reached out his hand.
But Paige’s eyes snapped open, fixated on his hand.
Henry’s hand froze momentarily before he withdrew it, "Paige, in the days to come, you better behave. I can give you a certain degree of freedom, but don’t play any tricks; otherwise, I would rather kill you than let you escape from my grasp."
Paige didn’t even glance at him, closing her eyes again.
Henry wasn’t usually talkative, but he didn’t like being ignored by Paige.
He remembered clearly how Paige looked at Julian Hawthorne.
"Paige, listen to me, okay?"
He said it as he leaned in toward Paige’s ear, softly, almost as if with a certain suggestive undertone.
Paige frowned deeper, "Henry Hale, could you shut up?"
Henry laughed, "I thought you’d never respond to me."
He said, "Paige, I’m curious, why did you unearth the underground lab? It doesn’t benefit you at all, does it?"
If Paige hadn’t exposed the underground lab, this wouldn’t have happened to her.
All she needed to do was ignore it, and she wouldn’t have these troubles now.
Paige responded indifferently, "I’m curious too. As the Crown Prince of the Hale Family, you have everything, why insist on researching such inhumane things?"
Henry narrowed his eyes, "Maybe because I have a penchant for exploring the unknown."
Paige snorted, as if mocking Henry. He raised an eyebrow, "Then what do you think is my reason?"
Paige, "Because the state feeds you too well, leaving you with nothing better to do."
Henry’s lip twitched, "I thought you would understand me, considering you like research too, don’t you? You know my lab can change the world. It’s not for me, it’s for humanity. We humans should be stronger and the unrivaled rulers of the world."
"Your so-called strength turns humans into things akin to animals, regressing creatures that took millions of years to evolve into advanced beings back into lower life forms, using brute force and survival of the fittest?"
Paige’s expression was sarcastic, "Humans are at the top of the pyramid not by brute force, but by intelligence, and it’s a pity you don’t have that."
Besides, Henry seemed to believe he was doing something great, while all those who disagreed just didn’t understand his grand ambitions.
"Young Master Hale, you will never become a historical hero, not even infamous. In the end, you’ll just be a minor character in the vast crowd. You can’t decide or change humanity’s future. Don’t think too highly of yourself."
Henry stared at Paige without blinking.
After a long pause, he laughed, "Paige, do you know why I took you with me?"
Paige turned her head to look out the window, "For conquest, because of your hidden intentions."
"So you knew," Henry laughed softly, "I thought you didn’t know."
Paige remained silent. Some people’s feelings were inexplicable and always tried to move themselves with such emotions.
But in truth, these excessive emotions were worthless in the eyes of the other party.
Moreover, Henry’s perceived emotions were merely based on her still being somewhat useful to him.
