The Heiress Spoiled by Four Brothers and One Devilish CEO-Chapter 282 I still owe you a honeymoon?
Megan felt the cool gel as the device moved over her belly. Watching Tristan purse his lips nervously, she found it amusing.
"Why are you acting like it’s me who’s nervous? You’re the one all tensed up," she teased silently.
Tristan kept his eyes glued to the screen, and when he saw that tiny little face, the corners of his mouth lifted ever so slightly.
The doctor chuckled, "From this angle, the baby’s eyes really take after the mom. But that nose and mouth? Definitely dad’s. Such an adorable little one."
Tristan quickly asked, "Doctor, is it a boy or a girl?"
Just as the doctor was about to respond, Megan gently grabbed her hand. "Let’s keep it a surprise, okay? Just tell us if the baby’s healthy."
The doctor nodded agreeably. "Of course."
Tristan was itching to know—it really bothered him not having that answer. Deep down, there was this fear that if something were to happen to him, he wouldn’t even know if it was a son or a daughter.
After leaving with confirmation that the baby was perfectly healthy, they drove off together.
Megan traced over his fingers slowly. "It’s not that I don’t care about the baby’s gender, I just...I want us to find out together, in the delivery room."
Tristan responded with a calm "Mm," then admitted, "Honestly, I’m a bit bummed. I’m just scared that maybe I won’t..."
"You’re going to be there. Don’t say things like that," she cut in quickly and kissed the back of his hand. "Karl will come back. He’ll fix this. He’ll fix you."
Tristan smiled and said okay, but in truth, his heart wasn’t in it. He had less than two months—he just wanted to hold on and stay with her as much as he could.
They returned to the old Lewis family home in Lindon City.
Stella had laid out a big spread on the table. She made sure to place a bit of everything on Tristan’s plate. "Tristan, eat more of what you like."
He smiled, "Thank you, Mom."
Zachary handed him a glass of lemon water. "No alcohol for now—it’s bad for your health. A lot’s happened these past few months. You two never even got a proper honeymoon. So your dad booked two tickets to the Maldives for you. Sure, we’ve got private jets and all, but you should try traveling like a normal couple—relax, take it easy. Flight’s tomorrow morning."
Thinking back on it, it was true—they hadn’t traveled together at all. Maybe it really was time for a change of pace.
Megan accepted the tickets, her smile sweet. "Thank you, Dad."
Samuel pouted, "Dad, that’s totally unfair. Can’t you get me a ticket too?"
"You’re single. You need a travel buddy for that."
Samuel shot a look at Oliver and Jason, who were busy with their food. "Big bro, second bro, why don’t we go together?"
Both shot him down in unison, saying they couldn’t handle being around someone so goofy—it might destroy their brain cells.
Samuel turned to Brandon. "Brandon, how about you join me?"
Brandon shot him a look like he was allergic to the idea. "I’ve got better things to do. I’m spending time with Emily."
Samuel then turned to Mr. Lewis. "Grandpa, wanna be my travel buddy?"
Mr. Lewis tightened his grip on his cane. "With my legs? You planning to carry me on your back?"
Samuel grinned. "Haha, maybe not. Guess I’ll pass."
Oliver picked up a piece of rib and dropped it into his bowl. "Samuel, stop dreaming about tagging along on their trip, alright? Don’t you see you’d just be a massive third wheel glowing like a thousand-watt bulb?"
Samuel: "......"
Next morning.
Stella knocked on Megan’s bedroom door, her voice ringing through the hallway. "Megan, Tristan, time to get up! The plane won’t wait if you’re late!"
Megan stretched with a big yawn and rubbed her eyes. "What time is it?"Tristan picked up his phone from the nightstand. "It’s eight. Time to get up, our flight’s at ten twenty."
The two of them got out of bed, freshened up, and changed.
Megan took out her phone, tapped out a number, and hit call. "Are you out yet?"
"Thanks to this little fairy, Nova’s been rescued by Zeta Prime and his girlfriend! Zeta Prime even said his girl is pretty—OMG! Like, she looks just like him! And he still calls her good-looking!"
Megan chuckled. "As long as they’re happy on the inside, looks don’t matter that much. Your boss and I are heading to the Maldives, you guys go back to the base first."
"Got it!"
After ending the call, they headed downstairs for breakfast.
Samuel was already there, gulping down his milk. "I’ll drive you guys later."
"Thanks, Sam!" Megan smiled sweetly.
Samuel wiped his mouth with a napkin and stood up. "Take your time eating. I’ll go load the suitcases into the car."
Watching him leave the dining room, Tristan said, "I’m done eating. I’ll go help with the luggage. Take your time."
Megan nodded, fully aware of his real reason.
At the front door, Samuel had just put the two suitcases in the trunk when he turned and saw Tristan standing there, hands casually stuffed in his pockets.
"Done eating?"
"Yeah." Tristan grinned. "Had to come supervise. Gotta make sure you’re not slacking off."
Samuel rolled his eyes. "..."
Tristan let out a laugh. "Really, thanks, Sam. You and Brandon going to Northriver for my sorcery worm situation... I really owe you guys. How’s your hand doing?"
Samuel raised his hand in front of him and gave it a shake. "Feeling great. Works even better now, more flexible too. It’s really no big deal. But Karl... he made the biggest sacrifice. He married that medicinal girl to convince Mr. Ford. She needs medicinal baths constantly. Karl promised to stay there with her for three and a half months. We wanted you to go, but he shut that down flat. Seems Mr. Ford has some bad blood with the Reid family."
"Does Megan know?"
Samuel shook his head. "I didn’t tell her. Don’t want her stressing over it."
Seeing Tristan frown, Samuel asked tentatively, "Your old rival’s married—should be good news for you, right? What’s with the long face?"
"I owe him too much," Tristan sighed deeply. "And I’m afraid I can’t make it another two months, while he still has to stay with her for two more."
"Don’t overthink it." Samuel patted his shoulder. "You’ll hang in there. You’ll make it till Karl gets back with her."
Megan came out of the house just then, noticing the serious look on both their faces. "What’s up?"
Tristan took her hand. "It’s nothing. We’re about to leave."
He opened the car door, and Megan bent down to get into the back seat. He followed.
The whole Lewis family came out to see them off.
Stella waved cheerfully. "Have a blast, Megan and Tristan! I’ve got a surprise for you two when you’re back!"
Zachary beamed, "See you in a week!"
Even Oliver, who always looked so aloof, had a rare warm smile. "We’ll all be here when you get back."
Megan looked at Jason. "Jay, make sure Wendy stays under lock and key. Once the real Michelle surfaces, she needs to go straight to jail." Jason nodded. "Don’t worry."
Emily waved excitedly. "Megan, the Maldives is gorgeous. If you love it, just extend your trip a few more days!"
Brandon wrapped an arm around her waist. "Mrs. Lewis, are you hinting that I still owe you a honeymoon?"
