Chapter 159: Making plans (1)

"Have you done this for others?"

"It’s only the first night and you’re already making your husband nervous," Tobias replied, not wanting to answer the question. "I thought we were forgetting about the past before each other?"

"I just want to know if it is special for you to be treating me with such care or common? Would you be so quick to help clean someone else and offer your shirt?" Hazel asked.

Hazel didn’t care about his flirtatious past, but she would love to know which moments only happened between them.

"You must keep your promise of telling me if a woman you bedded is near. I don’t want to be surprised by their comments."

"Must we speak of this on our wedding night? I’ve never cleaned a woman after making love to them. I wouldn’t exactly call it making love then. You’re special my little prude," Tobias said, tapping her nose with his finger.

Tobias had ripped the stained blanket from the bed, balled it up and placed it at the front of the bed for him to take to the bathroom to try washing out the stains after he took care of Hazel.

Hazel tried to bite his finger as he moved it away. "I don’t like the nickname prude, you flirt. Do you want me to bring my childhood nickname for you? Wobble prince?"

Tobias snorted as the name was something he could never understand. "Wobble prince?"

"It is the way you used to run as if you would fall over. Would you like to hear from others? Bug face-"

"Bookworm," Tobias threw in one he had for Hazel. "You always had a book covering yourself so I thought you might turn into one. I once made the joke that you might smell like an old book."

"Goodnight," Hazel said, lying down on the bed.

"I thought you wanted to bring up old names from our past?" Tobias asked, poking her side. "There is still a bottle of wine left for us to drink and I can get you food. See how good it is to marry a prince? You get to make me your servant."

"Then you should speak less and get food. I am starving," Hazel said, still not turning to look his way. "Please put on something before you step outside. Why haven’t you at least put on your pants? You said that we are not doing it again."

"Afraid any passing maids would get a glimpse of my body? I almost want to see you being jealous and trying to hide me from women," Tobias said, still poking at Hazel for her to turn back to him.

"You are out of luck because I will not be pulling you away from women. You must walk away by yourself," Hazel replied.

Since Tobias was well-known for being a flirt, as he became king, Hazel knew to expect that there would be some women looking to approach him to get in his bed. Tobias had to prove to Hazel that his old ways were gone and he could leave those women where they stood without her help.

"I don’t need anyone’s help to get away from women, but I am curious what your jealous side is like. A shame that I never got to experience it during the selection. I should have asked another lady to dinner to see your reaction."

"I am not going to take another woman to my side," Tobias promised.

Hazel was the only woman he needed right now. He would be a fool to mess up what was growing between them all for women who might only care that he was king. No matter who proposed taking another woman by his side, Tobias would ignore them. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

"I trust that you won’t. If you do, I will take a man by my side," Hazel said, not meaning it, but she thought it was a fair answer. With her back turned to Tobias, she missed the way his happy demeanour went away.

"Then you should make the night worth it as I would hang him right after I find him."

Hazel slowly turned to face Tobias. His threat scared her though it wasn’t directed at her. "You know that I was only joking."

Tobias smiled, but to Hazel it didn’t reach his eyes. "So was I."

"I don’t believe you," Hazel said, watching him be quick to put on his pants. Luckily, his threat was not something she needed to worry about as she could never see herself cheating on Tobias.

Hazel sat up once more and hugged her feet as Tobias went to open the door to speak to the guards about bringing them food.

"Why are you curled up like a wounded animal? Don’t think too much about what I said. I won’t hang anyone."

Tobias sat back down beside Hazel and caressed her cheek with the back of his right hand. "Your food should be coming soon so try to stay awake. What would you like to do tomorrow?"

"Can we do anything? The two of us?" Hazel questioned as she wasn’t told the schedule for tomorrow or the day after. "They won’t separate us to prepare for your coronation?"

"Not unless they want to see the palace burn to the ground. We are newlyweds and like other newlyweds, it is time for us to be together. Tell me what you want to do and I will arrange it in the morning. See the gardens or sit around to read?" Tobias asked, leaving it up to her.

"I would love it if just the two of us could sit somewhere and enjoy food. Like a nice grassy area after riding around. I could read there or we could find something to do together during that time. As long as we are not disturbed by anyone," Hazel answered.

She spent so many weeks with someone constantly watching her that all Hazel wanted was to go somewhere they could be outside and alone. Being in the present room was fun as it was only Tobias here with her, but there would be so many future days stuck inside that she wanted to go out now.

"There’s a path we have for horse riding we can take. I will have a maid get food from the kitchen and two horses prepared for us to go riding. We can take some of our wedding gifts to open there. I’ll take care of any guards following us," Tobias promised.

Hazel now eagerly awaited tomorrow. As soon as the food arrived, she would eat and go to sleep so she could quickly wake up to a new day reserved for her to be around only Tobias. She wished that tomorrow wouldn’t be one of those days where the palace had other plans for her or Tobias.
