Chapter 72: Flight

Okay. I can fucking fly!

Afternoon sun was shinning brightly, I stood in the center of a massive park with lush bushes of colorful flowers on the borders. It was the backyard of the inn.

Alya was sitting on the stone stairs on my side, reading some novel she picked in the main hall. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Subaru was busy with a piece of bread, sitting a meter away from where Alya was, on the same stair. He looked a bit grumpy.

I understood why. He wanted us to eat first. I wanted to check my loot. I did tell him to go eat by himself but for some reason he came here after picking a few pieces of bread.

It did made me hurry with everything even though I didn’t feel huger.

The red in my eyes glowed as the long grass blades below me bended like pushed by strong gusts of wind. I was floating a whole two foot above them.

It was [God’s hand]. It said it provided absolute control but I could not control shit. Well I could in a way to not blast myself away but I wanted to just focus it’s force on my feet and not waste so much of the limited amount I had.

Alyndra’s memories of using the skill had been super helpful. That man could flatten cities with a thought. And, of course I had already seen his perfect defense.

I didn’t have quantity for either but I did have enough to push or pull someone or even shoot a concentrated attack that could obliterate a normal human in pieces.

And, I could technically create a layer of absolute defense after watching how Alyndra did it. I had access to what his thought process was while using it so it was easy.

He basically controlled all gravity he had to surround him, layer over itself over and over again, and push everything away.

It was kind of useless with the amount of gravity had. If I spread it to cover every part, probably a good punch from someone at D or even E class with Arcana could break it.

Maybe it will hit kind of but meh, with my stats I could knock that level of fighter down before he could even think of punching.

None of it mattered anyway. I literally just wanted to fly. I had more than enough gravity for it.

It wasn’t like I needed to effect a bigger area to fly, just my surroundings like I push from my feet to launch myself, control gravity right below my torso to keep me floating.

I could launch myself now but it wasn’t efficient enough for me to shift the gravity to torso then turn around fast enough and then make it move to mimic flying.

Another twenty minutes passed.

[God’s Hand: Efficiency 1—>2]

Surprisingly, efficiency increased. It was a bit too fast. Improvement was little, amount of gravity increased, and

the degree of control improved, barely noticeable.

I sighed, Still no progress. It would be insane to expect it in just this much time but results were really disappointing. I couldn’t be precise enough to only surround my feet and the grass blades were still bending.

I can’t keep floating and lay stomach first on the gravity like this. With a deep sigh, I slowly landed.

My bare feet brushed against the wet grass as the soft sunlight provided much needed warmth in the peak of winter. Places like Sepherdia were even colder.

It was surprising that there wasn’t any snow, even at the entire half of that mountain.

"It takes time. No need for to rush. You should be resting right now, even if you don’t require it." Subaru said sternly as I sat beside Alya on the stair.

Subaru got up from the ground, wiping sweat off his forehead. He was doing some push-ups and squats after finishing his breads.

"I know, I know. I am sorry for the delay. Let’s go eat for now." I said, rubbing my temples.

Alya shut her thick novel close, turning towards me me. I finally had the opportunity to read it’s title: [King’s maid].

My eyes went below the title with a little widened eyes. Title made it sound like one of those freaky FL romance novels. Is Alya a gooner?! Question of the year.

[A practical guide to politics, manipulation and deception.]

That was it’s sub-title.

Maybe, I am the gooner.

Though, I was still curious to why she picked this self-help book instead of thousands of pretty interesting fantasy, romance novels, or guide books placed in lobby.

Her expression told me I was better not asking. If she was learning to manipulate me to be obsessed with her, it was... Kinda hot.

Okay, I will stop now.

"We are leaving? What about the training? How was the skill? Do you need my help with anything?" She hit me with a barrage of question.

"Yeah, we are all tired. Also, I wanna take a bath and eat for the taste.

It was pretty good even though there wasn’t much progress. The skill’s amazing, I see why Alyndra’s reputation was like that.

Just relax Alya, you know I will ask if I do." I answered all one by one.

She chuckled and nodded, "You better!" She stood up, prompting me to stand too.

As if she suddenly thought of something, she added, "Is turning over necessary? I mean, to fly." She said offhandedly.

"Well... Technically, no?" My mind raced with thoughts. Is it just superman fantasies that I want to turn over? No, flying on my feet would be pretty awkward in longer distances.

If I forced myself to fly from my feet alone, I could first launch like a rocket then turn the rocket launch gravity sideways, towards the direction I want to go.

But, can I be precise enough to make that type of change without obliterating my feet? That would be the same problem as turning over my stomach and flying like superman. It would probably require a similar amount of control.

If only I needed to focus on just one point. While both going up, and forward.

As the thought rested in my head, my jaw widened, startling both Alya and Subaru.

"..."

"..."

They shared a look as I began laughing maniacally, "Holy shit! Why didn’t I think of that?"

I grabbed Alya’s hand with both my hands, "You’re a genius Alya! Thank you! I figured it out!"

"Uhm, I am happy to help Luci." She forced an encouraging smile as I nodded repeatedly.

Basically, I could focus on one point! Like, take a wooden board for example. No, maybe a broom or sword.

I could either sit on the broom or stand on the sword and focus all my gravity on controlling them. And, I wouldn’t even need to touch my feet.

There were two feet. I needed to focus below on both of them so it spread in a wide area. But, I had tested before. I could make something fly, fly really really fucking fast in all directions and focus much more efficiently overall.

It would still use all of the gravity available to control something big enough to carry me but I can fly!

Just need a way to brace myself when the speed increase but thanks to [Whisker paws] I can balance perfectly. Just need to practice before I can officially fly around freely.

I was still humming as we sat in the kitchen area, telling my two buddies how much I progressed.

The kitchen was basically a cafeteria with wooden benches all around the massive hall like room.

But, I got it why it was called that as they were literally cooking in the center of the area.

There were four women, their faces covered in sweat as one chopped vegetables in a lotus position in one side, one stirred a black pot, while other two served the meals in plates.

They had a gas but there wasn’t fire below it. But, just two stones. The girl touched them from time to time and I could see it’s temperature changing.

"So, can you explain how I can change my past?" Subaru asked with a straight face, sipping water from a wooden mug.

"Primordial trials." I said directly. There was no one beside Alya who could hear us. I didn’t mind telling it to her.

I pulled out the deck of cards. His face was at the top of the golden deck of the cards.

"Hm..." Subaru looked curiously at it. "Yes, that’s my amour. I don’t why I don’t have it when I have my swords, at least two."

"Was it that important?" I asked curiously. I had heard him mention it more than twice.

"Since you already know about authorities..." I gulped at his words.

"It was enchanted with the authority of harm. Basically, no harm could harm it’s wielder.

Be it even the intentions to harm. Anyone who tries to or even thinks of harming it’s wielder would generally get very unlucky.

Like they were cursed. And unlucky as in a skilled swordsman accidentally stabbing his heart while unsheathing their sword."

I almost spit out the bitter coffee in my mouth, WHAT?! Isn’t this completely invincible? I mean if you can’t even think of harming him, how are you even attacking. And even if you attack, you will still get unlucky...

"Anyways, can you explain these primordial trials."

I did. His face grew more shocked the more he listened.

"Can we enter now?" He suddenly stood up, leaning towards me with the most serious face I had seen him wear.
