Chapter 549: Chapter 549: Convince This Crazy Woman!

As she spoke, her voice trembled. Indeed, if that eight billion yuan truly had no way out, they wouldn’t survive for much longer either.

"Gabriel, try to reason with this crazy woman! Gabriel!"

Faye kept retreating, but the man she was passionately entangled with just last night was now standing by, acting deaf and dumb, his gaze towards her full of malice.

Faye’s face turned pale with fright, continuously trying to back away.

"Slash."

The knife slashed down hard, leaving a red mark instantly on Faye’s face.

In disbelief, she touched her face, seeing Mae Summers still trying to come over, she quickly opened the door beside her and ran out.

Mae Summers’ body went limp, the dagger slid from her hand, falling to the ground with a crisp sound.

What on earth should they do, with only a week left, now that Vivian Jacobs avoids them completely, the last bit of hope vanished too.

Gabriel’s face was gloomy, somewhat regretting not having gotten along well with Vivian, otherwise it wouldn’t be such a dire situation now.

The atmosphere in the room was extremely tense, each person’s head was metaphorically weighed down by a mountain, as for the departed Faye, no one cared where she had gone.

Covering her face, Faye had just arrived at the hospital when she saw Eleanor Hollis.

Eleanor had handled the discharge procedure for her child yesterday, realizing she forgot something, she specially rushed over today.

As she looked up, she saw Faye coming in covering her face. She had seen this woman at Jude Shaw’s wedding before but didn’t have a good impression. Faye embodied all the traits of a woman from the lower strata.

Facing each other, they had no choice but to speak.

"Mrs. Holloway, what’s happened to you?"

Eleanor, with sharp eyes, noticed blood on Faye’s cheek and couldn’t help but ask with concern when she saw Faye’s panic-stricken look.

Faye’s eyes were filled with resentment, thinking of how Vivian shamelessly abandoned her, allowing Mae Summers to bully her so spitefully.

"Do you know where Jude Shaw is?"

By now, Vivian must definitely be with Jude.

Eleanor, unaware of their tangled drama, replied honestly.

"They’ve gone to the Maldives for a vacation, probably won’t return for a month."

Covering her face, Faye was at a loss for words, her daughter had deserted her for a holiday, leaving her to be humiliated like this.

Eleanor was about to leave since Marcus was waiting at home, but Faye suddenly grabbed her and began to chatter endlessly.

"You’re Jude Shaw’s friend, right? Could you give him a call? I need him to know just what kind of woman he’s married. Vivian abandoned me to vacation with him, hah, this cold-hearted scoundrel, marrying just now yet so eager to ditch poor relatives like us!"

Eleanor frowned, despite not knowing Vivian well, she had a feeling Vivian wouldn’t act like this, the woman must be hiding a lot.

"Sorry, I have something to do now, I’m leaving."

She didn’t want to get involved in others’ family matters, but Faye wouldn’t take the hint at all and didn’t release her grip.

"Miss Hollis, if you know Jude’s number, please give it to me."

Eleanor shook off her hand, feeling somewhat impatient, especially since this person’s hands were stained with blood.

"Sorry."

She walked forward, but Faye suddenly went down on her knees, crying loudly. Anyone unaware might think she was bullying her.

Eleanor’s temple throbbed with regret, wishing she hadn’t spoken to this person.

Nearby, people started pointing and whispering.

Faye was somewhat smug, knowing Eleanor’s status wasn’t simple; such people cared a lot about face. A kneel here would force even significant matters her way.

Eleanor noticed the change in her expression, realizing she was being taken advantage of.

"Mrs. Holloway, speak up while standing."

Listening carefully, one would detect a hint of anger in her voice, she was clearly holding back.

If not for Jude’s sake, she wouldn’t have engaged with this woman at all.

But Faye never read faces, feeling she was an elder while Eleanor was the younger, logic dictated that the younger should respect the elder.

"Miss Hollis, if you don’t agree to call Vivian back, I won’t get up today."

With that, she started crying, her cries heart-wrenching.

Eleanor felt very displeased, her lips curled slightly as she called Lan Yancy.

It was Lan Yancy who had driven her over and was waiting in the car.

"Lan Yancy, bring me a chair."

Not understanding why she made such a request, Lan Yancy nevertheless obediently found a chair, placing it behind her.

Eleanor sat down slowly, her gaze indifferent.

"If you want to kneel, just kneel, I have plenty of time to waste with you."

Faye was stunned; this person wasn’t like this just now. Her brows furrowed.

Standing up wasn’t an option, nor was kneeling, leaving her in an awkward situation.

Ignoring Faye’s expression, Eleanor took out her phone and calmly started gaming.

The sound of the game felt like a slap, harshly hitting Faye.

Faye’s face turned white and red, finally standing up awkwardly and leaving without a word.

"What a shrew."

Lan Yancy muttered beside her, taking the chair away.

Eleanor didn’t say anything. The more attention you gave such people, the more they’d think of themselves as important. She wondered how Vivian ended up with parents like these.

If she guessed correctly, Vivian was likely traveling to avoid them.

Faye, unfortunately, couldn’t see it till now.

Eleanor quickly forgot the small episode, heading home to check on Marcus upstairs.

Marcus still couldn’t be in the wind, so even at home, he could only stay in the room, though he was in much better spirits.

"Mommy, look, all those flowers have bloomed."

Looking down from the room, a vast garden lay filled with blooming flowers that weren’t there before.

Eleanor nodded, bringing him some light snacks.

"Is staying at home getting boring? Once you can move around, I’ll take you out to play."

Marcus beamed with joy, his eyes wide open, since he hadn’t been out to play in a long time.

"Okay."

In the following days, he peacefully recuperated at home, but someone had already set their sights on him.

With the week nearly up, Yvette Jacobs grew increasingly anxious. If those people came again and they still couldn’t come up with the money, she had a premonition that they’d all die.

Those people were demons who’d kill without blinking, caring nothing for their lives. Moreover, each of them carried the weight of lives taken.
