The Maid's Rise to Be a President's Wife-Chapter 8: Being Reprimanded by the Teacher
Chapter 8 - Being Reprimanded by the Teacher
Due to the sudden incident just now, Ji Aier returned to her room with a blank mind and simply couldn't calm down to study.
She recalled that it had been six years since she was adopted by the Ji family, a rather long period. In these six years, she and Ji En had been together day and night, and they had both grown from kids into teenagers. During these six years, she had gotten used to the Ji family's elaborate etiquette, the butler's strictness and scolding, and even more so, Ji En's arrogance and domineering ways.
In these six years, she had almost become Ji En's full - time nanny and study companion. She had taken care of him for six years, from his daily life to his school days. The time she spent with him far exceeded that of his parents who were often in the United States. She watched him grow from the same height as her to the current young man who made her feel a lot of pressure. Although they were of the same age, there was always a gap in their mental states. He could never understand the hardships of the world, while she had experienced too much at a young age.
She remembered that every day she could only rest after Ji En fell asleep and had to be ready before he woke up. She personally prepared the clothes he wore every day. Even after he put on his shirt every morning, she had to button it up for him. Otherwise, he would leave it open and go downstairs for breakfast. Originally, she thought she was taking care of a child, so everything came naturally to her. But now, she began to feel it was a burden. Because they had grown up and started to understand many things.
After a night of random thoughts and sleeplessness, Ji Aier overslept the next day. She didn't even hear the alarm go off several times. It was Ji En who came to wake her up.
"My god, I overslept," Ji Aier quickly jumped out of bed and brushed her teeth, washed her face, and changed her clothes as fast as she could.
When she got downstairs and saw Ji En in the kitchen, she thought she was seeing things.
"What are you doing?" she asked him.
"Making breakfast," he said without even looking up. He just wanted to try making breakfast by himself.
"Making breakfast?" Ji Aier couldn't believe what she heard and saw. "Let me do it. You just go and wait at the table." She took the spatula from Ji En's hand and quickly turned the eggs over. She never thought Ji En would ever cook by himself.
Ten minutes later, they started having breakfast. This breakfast, with half of Ji En's cooking skills, actually tasted pretty good.
"Did you finish your homework?" On their way to school, Ji En asked her. She had been complaining about how much homework there was after school yesterday afternoon.
"Homework?" Only then did Ji Aier remember that she hadn't even touched a single word of the huge pile of homework last night. "I forgot!" She had to admit the fact.
But no matter how hard she tried to catch up on her homework before the teacher's class, Ji Aier only managed to finish less than ten questions on the whole test paper.
As usual, the Chinese teacher started checking the homework. She skipped Ji En and soon came to Ji Aier.
Ji Aier reluctantly and somewhat embarrassedly spread out her blank test paper.
The teacher gave her a disdainful look and began to mock her in a very harsh tone: "Some people think they've become a phoenix just because they have rich people backing them up. They don't even need to study."
Ji Aier recalled the first time she felt so wronged. It was when the butler of the Ji family said that it was because of her lack of upbringing that her parents didn't want her and left her in the orphanage. And now, being insulted in the same way again, Ji Aier felt like she was suffocating. She lowered her head, and tears began to fall like broken pearls.
