The Martial Unity-Chapter 3013: Urgent Matters
"I am for the plan," Prime Minister Edward nodded. "However…"
His eyes sharpened ominously.
"Can you trust him?"
The Emperor of Harmony’s expression darkened.
"Let me remind you that his very act of joining the Kandrian Empire was an act of betrayal," the Britannian Prime Minister snorted with a hint of resentment. "He is not someone you can trust."
The Emperor of Harmony felt an ominous sensation tugging away at his heart as he gazed at his once archenemy with a grave expression.
The air tingled with a hint of tension as the two leaders exchanged an intense gaze.
The memory resurfaced memories of old from the war eighteen years.
The Emperor of Harmony closed his eyes, shaking his head lightly.
"We don’t have any choice but to trust him. For now…" his gaze swept across all the leaders of human civilization. "We must share any and all intelligence as we have been doing so all this time. Our mutual defense treaty for protection services through the World Bridge will avail to any threats emerging from the True World. Most of human civilization has broken up into an upheavel of hysteria. I would strongly insist that all of you completely pacify your civilians and the Martial Artists. Ensure that your polities are stable. Unstable states will be especially vulnerable to any threat emerging from the true world."
The leaders of human civilization discussed many more topics such that needed their immediate urgency, such as the rapid shifts in environment and their most immediate effects on the populations of human civilization.
"With night turned to day, the people of human civilization will have disrupted circadian rhythms and disrupted sleep cycles," the Emperor of Harmony remarked with a severe tone. "We can expect a drastic plummet in economic output for at least two weeks from this point. The only thing we can be grateful for is the fact that the time period of day-night cycles hasn’t decreased radically."
According to the data that they had collected based on the Sun’s position in the sky and its rate of change, day and night would last exactly twenty-four hours, as they had done forever.
This was good because any disruption to the amount of time that the day-night cycles took would drastically harm the human psyche that had evolved to such a world and had grown accustomed to standardized day-night cycles.
"At most, this shift has caused half the continent to experience a lag," the Emperor of Harmony turned to gaze out of the window of the conference room in the Royal Palace of Vargard, gazing at the bright sky illuminated by the radiant Sun in the middle of the sky in the afternoon. "Half the continent will experience a ’lag’ in their sleep schedule. And it will take some time for the citizens of human civilization to adjust. We will need to plan around that."
Those weren’t the only problems that they would need to start paying attention to.
"The drastic shift in weather and climate, making sunlight more evenly distributed, is surely going to cause massive environmental hazards," the Britannian Prime Minister added. "We will need to set up a trans-Panamic authority that is tasked with dealing with the changes to the environment, led by the finest experts in climate that human civilization has to offer. Lest our people suffer in floods, droughts, earthquakes, and other natural disasters across the entire continent."
The Emperor of Harmony sharpened his eyes as he thought about North Kandria.
The entire region was covered with snowy and icy mountains that were now being bathed in greater sunlight due to the fact that it was near the equator of the planet, where the curvature was lower, causing greater sunlight to bathe the entire nation.
If nothing was done to deal with it, floods and torrents of rain would abuse the Kandrian Empire, causing his people to suffer.
Each nation had one such direct consequence or another, after all, the environment was simply too connected for any region on the entire planet to avoid the consequences of this radical anomaly.
All Sage-level powerhouses collectively agreed to create the Panamic Environmental Stability Authority, a joint international body with the mandate from powerhouses to borrow from their power to ensure minimal damage to human life and capital.
"Another thing we should immediately consider is restoring trade through land."
For once, Chairman Bradt Patrick’s poker face failed him.
He couldn’t entirely hide the glint of desperation on his face.
He had grown older in the past seventeen years.
Older and wearier.
Even though the Emperor of Harmony had granted him two longevity potions because he valued the man’s commercial genius and had had him dominate the seas, leading the Bradt-Kandria Seafaring Enterprise.
And yet, he still found himself mourning the death of his first and only company, the Bradt Distribution Service.
Since the inception of the Beast Incursion seventeen years ago, trade across land was largely limited to when things were being transported from the closest port inland to the recipient nation.
It had destroyed everything that Chairman Bradt had ever worked for.
The abatement of the Beast Incursion and a new world for all of them to explore and possibly capitalize on or trade with.
It reinvigorated a fire within him.
One that he hadn’t had since he partnered with the Voider in the Shionel Dungeon.
The Emperor of Harmony nodded with approval. "If the Beast Incursion has truly halted, then we will aggressively open up international trade once more. We will stimulate, facilitate, unshackle, and even subsidize international trade if we have the opportunity to. Trade is the foundation of human prosperity."
However, they still didn’t know if the Beast Incursion had truly halted or not. It was possible that it had permanently stopped, but there had been instances in the past year, especially since the attacks grew more intelligent, where there were no beast tides; it was entirely possible that all of this was still part of a ploy from the Beast Incursion.
