The Mighty Mage-Chapter 40: Research Section
Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Research Section
Beauty can’t fill her stomach.
Gu Jin expected this outcome so she wasn’t disappointed.
Instead, she asked,
"What about the research section?"
"Hm?"
"The Plant Element is useful in the Research Section. I think I might be a help." Gu Jin said.
Gu Jin’s suggestion caught the receptionist off guard, her expression shifting from cold indifference to mild surprise.
There was indeed a Research Section that was supported by big hunter organizations like Sharp Eagle Hunter Group but...
"Even for that, you need a special type of element." The receptionist said in an ambiguous tone.
She expected Gu Jin to give up but Gu Jin’s next words stunned her,
"Like Mutated Elements?"
The receptionist’s eyes widened, and she subconsciously asked,
"How...how did you know?"
Gu Jin got her answer and turned to leave.
Just then Wang Shaolin and his lackey came out of the room with a hint of dejection and frustration in their eyes.
They happened to hear Gu Jin’s words and they suddenly became even more agitated,
"Brother, not everywhere a mutated element is required..."
"He is correct." The receptionist interrupted Wang Shaolin.
Snorting Wang Shaolin and his lackey left while Gu Jin ignored them thinking she won’t have to face them in the future anyways.
Gu Jin left the building and Si Kai who was walking beside her asked,
"Sister, do you plan to enter the research section of Sharp Eagle Hunter Group? But why? And when did you think about it?"
Gu Jin answered the 3 questions in a single sentence,
"Yes, for the future plans, just a moment ago."
Hearing the ambiguity in Gu Jin’s sentence Si Kai didn’t ask any further.
Gu Jin one by one visited many different Hunter Groups. Some let her enter and give an interview, while some rejected her even before she entered the interview round.
Gu Jin wasn’t that disappointed since she already knew the outcome even before entering the Hunter Group.
Currently, her Plant Element is at tier 1. To reach the Intermediate Level, she needs to cultivate till tier 3.
Without Mystic Seed she can’t even reach tier 2 let alone tier 3.
She now understood why most of the orphans weren’t able to survive at all.
Even if they have good talent, without Mystic Seed and good resources they would never be able to succeed.
Gu Jin returned to home with a tired expression. Si Kai hurriedly went to fetch water for her.
Taking the glass, Gu Jin couldn’t help but rub Si Kai’s soft hair and said,
"Thank you, little guy!"
Si Kai blushed and asked,
"Sister, why did you even try when you knew that no one was going to accept you?"
Gu Jin drank the water and replied,
"Hm. To try my luck and see what is the most famous element the Hunter Groups require."
"So what was the conclusion?"
"Psychic, White Magic, Lightning, Summoning, or Necromancy."
"Oh!"
Gu Jin unlocked her phone when she felt it vibrating and was pleasantly surprised to find a reply to her comment,
"I can! But I need a guarantee. Here are my contact details:"
Earlier when she was scrolling through the upcoming auctions, she asked whether someone was interested in doing a 50-50 for an entry ticket.
This was a very common practice. The entry tickets could cost up to 1 million.
So people usually try to find a person to share the price and since you could bring a companion along with yourself on one entry ticket, no one finds it unbeneficial.
Gu Jin calmly called the number and once the call went through, she heard a rough voice,
"Hello? Are you Su Jin?"
"Yes. Are you Nax?"
The person who replied to her didn’t use his real name.
Gu Jin wasn’t surprised. Who would use their real name and contact details if they want to communicate with a stranger?
"Ok, Su Jin. So let’s not beat around the bush. For the guarantee you pay the half price first and then I will pay the next half."
Gu Jin narrowed her eyes and said,
"Okay, then I will contact the auction house’s reception desk."
"Hm? No. You have to pay me half a million, then I will use my half million and yours to buy the ticket."
Gu Jin hung up right away and blocked Nax’s contact right away.
Si Kai was stunned by Gu Jin’s action but he soon understood why Gu Jin did so when he saw her typing, ’Beware, he is a scammer.’
Gu Jin understood the problem she had overlooked before.
Online strangers... can’t be trusted.
Rather than losing half a million, it’s better to buy the ticket on her own.
After buying the entry ticket, Gu Jin’s heart ached.
1 million! Her 1 million flew away just like that!
She patted her heart and promised herself to earn it back after getting a Mystic Seed.
Si Kai saw Gu Jin’s expression and reminded her unkindly,
"Sister after the auction you would most likely lose all of your money."
Gu Jin: "..." How uncute.
Gu Jin almost spat blood.
She poked Si Kai’s head with her finger and asked in a lecturing tone,
"Why can’t you see me happy, little guy? Truly as time passes children become more and more uncute!"
Si Kai smiled when he saw that Gu Jin didn’t show any sad expression anymore.
Gu Jin understood the reason why Si Kai kept on taunting her and a smile appeared on her face.
She checked the date on the auction ticket and found that the auction was on Saturday.
With a relaxed state of mind, Gu Jin spent her entire week focusing on her studies and mana cultivation.
Since cultivating her Plant element won’t be of much use, Gu Jin mainly focused on her mana cultivation.
On Saturday she took a leave from her school and went to an auction house named Dong Auction House.
Just when she reached the entrance she heard a few people arguing.
