The Miraculous Treasure Hunting System-Chapter 153. Future Captain
Elena sat on the bench, resting her head in her hands on her thighs. "Ed, have you thought about what you want to do in the future?" She sounded casual, but something was clearly bothering her.
Hearing this question, Ed leaned back on the stone bench and shook her head, tossing the leg bone into her inventory and taking out another. "No, I just left my hometown. Everything outside is so new and exciting, and I haven’t achieved even one percent of my dream of being super rich and powerful. I need to explore and see all kinds of wonders before I consider anything else."
Elena nodded emphatically. "That’s right. The world is so big, and there are so many places we haven’t been. It would be a real shame not to see them." As she said this, Elena turned her head, her eyes seemingly sparkling. She said happily, "Remember when we first entered the Dark Realm? The scenery was like the place where darkness and light meet. Wouldn’t it be a shame if we didn’t see more such things in our lifetime?"
Ed nodded; what she said was true. The scenery at that time had truly shocked her. It was a magnificent spectacle that, even in her previous life, Ed had never fully imagined. After all, there is always a difference between imagination and reality.
"Yes, that’s very true. The world is so big and beautiful; you’ll regret it for the rest of your life if you don’t see more of its wonders."
Lucilia’s voice reached Ed’s ears. She was just bored in the mirror and eavesdropping on their conversation to pass the time. Having never left home in her entire life when she was alive, she harbored a strong desire and profound empathy for wandering and seeing the world. This was the source of her lifelong regret. However, it was only after death that she gained the ability to pursue her lifetime dreams.
"Following the treasure hunt is great. We’ll travel far and wide searching for treasure, see different landscapes, and even learn some ancient secrets along the way."
"Indeed, treasure hunting is so fascinating," Ed couldn’t help but agree. Of course, if she didn’t have the system, even with a knife to her throat, she would never have become a treasure hunter. She always knew her luck wasn’t great, and finding treasure in such a huge world seemed impossible for someone without true skill, who relied on a cheat to fool others and fill her pockets.
Elena also nodded in agreement. "That’s why I don’t want to stay in the cathedral as some kind of saintess; it’s not free at all. But if Dad retrieves the Sword of Mercy this time, it will be a huge contribution. Given his previous achievements, he might be transferred back."
"The treasure hunt is disbanding?" Ed turned around, somewhat surprised and downcast. She quite liked the atmosphere on the ship. Yes, she was surrounded by saints, but it had a family-like atmosphere; no need to worry about anything except the lack of feminine company.
"Not necessarily, I was just saying it’s possible. After all, Dad isn’t really a treasure hunter. If it weren’t for the church’s mission, he probably wouldn’t be wandering the seas like this. Besides, Sister Vanessa doesn’t have any particular interest in treasure hunting either; she just follows Dad." At this point, Elena raised an eyebrow and winked at Ed.
Even without the hint, Ed had long known that Vanessa had set her lustful gaze on her "cheap" captain. If not for the fact that Vanessa was unsuitable for him, Ed would have long ago made the captain wear a green hat.
Elena continued, "Gami goes without saying; the church must have sent him to see the outside world this time. Knowing his personality, how could he possibly leave the cathedral? He could stay there his whole life without any problems. Jason does like adventure, but I think with his brain, he’ll definitely run into trouble going solo."
Hearing this, Ed nodded involuntarily. That son indeed didn’t have much in his head. If left alone, he would definitely change his profession and become a full-time gigolo.
Then, Elena suddenly straightened up and patted Ed’s shoulder forcefully. "Don’t worry, I’ll definitely inherit the treasure-hunting team in the future. We’ll make a name for ourselves then."
Seeing Elena’s smile, Ed couldn’t help but smile back, shaking her head and bumping fists with her. It didn’t matter who was captain as long as she had some thugs under her to do the work. She was more than happy to stay with them.
"No problem, future captain," she joked.
"Hmph." Hearing this, Elena raised her head and snorted smugly.
"And me! I want to be a member of the treasure-hunting team too!" Lucilia’s voice chimed in.
Hearing this, Ed patted the mirror on her chest, indicating that was no problem. How could she possibly leave her second cheat, and emergency fun toy, out of her sight?
It seems Lucilia needs to be introduced to everyone later, Ed thought, rubbing her chin. It’s not good to keep her hidden forever. After all, Lucilia longs to make friends, but perhaps due to her past life, she is inherently a little shy. She has never thought of revealing herself to anyone other than me. But first I have to teach her some things, so the other girls don’t put bad ideas in her head, Ed continued brainstorming.
"What are you two talking about? You’re both grinning from ear to ear?" Jason suddenly popped out from behind and asked with a smile.
"We were saying that you’re not very smart, and you’ll never be able to become a lone treasure hunter. Otherwise, you’ll be so poor you can’t even afford to eat," Elena said calmly.
"If you went solo, you’d definitely change your profession and start doing something I can’t speak about right now," Ed added with a chuckle, making Elena raise an eyebrow as she didn’t understand the hidden meaning.
Hearing this, Gami couldn’t help but laugh. "Haha, I think so too." Although he didn’t understand Ed’s joke, he understood Elena’s.
Jason glanced at the group. "Stop talking nonsense." But he didn’t forget to give Ed a thumbs up. He also knew if he went solo, he would indeed become a gigolo. He had already realized his talent for treasure hunting wasn’t great, but when it came to fooling rich milfs? No one could beat him.
Following behind the two, Andre and Vanessa also approached.
Looking at the cathedral ahead, Andre said, "I can already faintly sense the aura of the holy artifact; it’s inside the cathedral." A faint blue light flickered in his eyes. He turned to look at Ed and Elena, then nodded to Ed. "Get ready, everyone. The journey inside the cathedral won’t be peaceful."
With that, he clenched his fist and walked towards the cathedral. Ed then noticed that Andre was wearing a pair of knuckle dusters. They weren’t rounded; they had a row of sharp blades engraved with dense golden patterns. Without a doubt, they were weapons prepared to inflict holy light damage. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Elena and Ed walked on either side of Andre, followed by Jason and Gami. Vanessa walked in the middle. Forming a triangular formation, they slowly advanced.
Following the beam of light, they arrived at the church doors. The heavy iron gates stood three meters high, tightly shut. Carved on the two doors were a young girl holding a sword and an old woman holding an oil lamp, surrounded by ears of wheat and various elements symbolizing the Holy Mother.
