The Necromancer's Fourth Catastrophe-Chapter 450 - 391: Please Step Back
"Go call the others."
The elder of the Pope Order seated on the right side glanced slightly at the shadows beside him.
"Yes." A low voice immediately came from the darkness, without any figure visible from beginning to end.
The elder of the Pope Order seated on the left side also glanced slightly at the corner of shadows and then withdrew his gaze.
The two did not wait long; soon, four people came in from outside.
Their ages were obviously much younger than those of the two elders from the Pope Order, and one even appeared to be just middle-aged.
After they were seated, the elder seated at the upper left slowly began to speak, "We've received word from Noel over here; the Elf Kingdom has a plan needing our consideration on whether to cooperate."
The middle-aged man raised his eyes, curious, and asked, "Oh? What sort of plan?"
Upon hearing the inquiry, the elder seated at the upper right pondered briefly, then slowly spoke, "Let me explain."
After he finished speaking, the elder went on to detail the Elf Kingdom's plan and mentioned the Celestial Dragon Empire.
Indicating that the Celestial Dragon Empire had already agreed on the matter ahead of them.
Upon hearing this, everyone present fell silent, especially the middle-aged man, whose face appeared particularly grim.
"I object; according to the information received now, the traitor is highly likely to be the mastermind behind the Undead Forces. If we agree to the Elf Kingdom's plan, how long would we have to wait to sanction the traitor?"
The sole middle-aged person among the six was the first to speak, breaking the silence.
The elder seated at the upper right glimpsed at him slightly, then slowly spoke, "Bill, don't be so agitated."
"I know, he's a disgrace born from under your hand, but this matter could bring immense benefits to our Bright Church Country, particularly since the Celestial Dragon Empire has already agreed to it ahead of us."
"If we refuse cooperation here, we might end up having considerable friction with the Celestial Dragon Empire and the Elf Kingdom moving forward."
"Moreover, the pros and cons are clear; I doubt any top-level force would refuse. If all other top-level forces unify in cooperation, only excluding us, the pressure on our Bright Church Country would be immense."
Upon hearing the elder's words, the middle-aged man referred to as Bill furrowed his brow, seemingly wanting to say something, but before he could, he was interrupted by the elder seated at the upper left:
"Bill, I know you're eager to eliminate the traitor. After all, you once invested countless effort and hope in him, only for him to betray all your expectations. I understand the pain you've suffered, but it's been many years, and you've waited so long; perhaps a little more time won't matter. I think if you wait until the plan concludes, you'll naturally be able to bring the traitor to justice. What do you think?"
Hearing both elders persuading him, Bill's heart subtly sank.
He was well aware that since both elders had spoken, they were inclined towards cooperation with the Elf Kingdom.
However, he also understood, as this plan, if successful, would bring tremendous benefits.
Were it not for the considerable connection with the traitor, he too would find it difficult to refuse.
Indeed, he was the previous Pope of the Bright Church Country, once perceiving the traitor as a rare genius in a millennium, dedicating all his effort and resources to him.
Even directly appointing him as the next Pope, excluding everyone else to make him the sole successor to the Pope.
What did he receive in return? The traitor not only failed to show gratitude but outright betrayed him, silently escaping the Bright Church Country.
And the reason for the betrayal being alchemy? It's utterly laughable!
The blow was too overwhelming, originally at his age, he was far from retirement, but due to this matter, he couldn't overcome the hurdle in his heart and ultimately chose to retire early.
He handed over the Papacy to the current Pope, who was once the genius he directly excluded, a reality that was indeed extremely ironic.
The grudge remains; in his heart, eliminating the traitor is his top priority.
Thus, despite the plan's potential for massive benefits, his determination remains firm, refusing to cooperate.
Currently, the problem is that the two most senior and reputable members of the Pope Order tend to agree to the cooperation, which makes him feel awkward.
Among the Pope Order's six members, only his predecessor stands on the same side, while his relationships with the other four are quite ordinary.
Taking a deep breath, Bill calmly spoke, "My mind is set; regardless, it's impossible for me to tolerate the traitor's existence upon discovering his whereabouts. I've waited long enough; I refuse to wait any longer."
