The Obsessive Tycoon Claims the Deserted Heiress-Chapter 89 - 088: Seek Sympathy and Share the Bed With Them
Chapter 89 - 088: Seek Sympathy and Share the Bed With Them
Shi Wei pointed towards the window with his fingertips: "It's thundering outside, I can't sleep."
Having changed out of his suit, he seemed to have shed that aloof, untouchable image. Or perhaps, in front of Yu Zhi, he was always different.
"Are you scared?"
"Mhm."
Shi Wei slightly lowered his head and spoke hesitantly, "Can I sleep on the sofa tonight?"
Yu Zhi glanced at the sofa near the coffee table, which was less than 1.8 meters long, then looked him over: "The sofa might not fit."
He was too tall, and curling up there all night would definitely be uncomfortable.
"It's okay, I can make do." Shi Wei paused for a few seconds before starting to move toward the sofa.
His retreating figure carried an air of desolation, as if he had been abandoned.
"Don't sleep on the sofa," Yu Zhi called out to him. She patted the spot beside her on the bed, looking serious: "The bed is big enough. Come over."
Shi Wei curved his lips into a grin where she couldn't see it, but he didn't turn around immediately. He looked a bit conflicted: "Forget it, it doesn't feel appropriate."
"It's fine." Yu Zhi scooted forward and grabbed hold of his sleeve lightly. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Shi Wei couldn't help but move back and ended up sitting down heavily on the bed. He turned his head, hesitated, and glanced at the girl, making no move for a long time.
"It's late, get some rest first." Yu Zhi lifted the edge of the blanket beside her, signaling for him to get on.
Under her repeated urging, Shi Wei eventually climbed onto the bed with an air of extreme 'reluctance.'
The bedside lamp cast a warm yellow light, and if stared at for too long, it easily lulled the lids into a sleepy droop.
Shi Wei turned over, while staring at the girl's profile. He cautiously inched closer, bit by bit, until the distance between them narrowed to his satisfaction.
"Boom—"
"Zhizhi."
As a loud thunderclap sounded outside, Shi Wei encircled Yu Zhi's waist.
He buried his face in her neck, inhaling deeply, eyes filled with yearning.
But to Yu Zhi, this scene simply looked like he was genuinely terrified.
Responding to his hug, she placed her hand on his back and patted lightly, her voice soothing: "It's okay, sleep now."
"Mhm." Shi Wei's hand tightened slightly around her waist as he closed his eyes, the shadow of his eyelashes creating a sliver of contentment.

The next morning.
Shi Wei arrived at Xing Ye with dark circles under his eyes, looking thoroughly exhausted.
As soon as he entered the office, he collapsed onto the black leather sofa, pinched the bridge of his nose, and closed his eyes slightly.
"Boss, what were you up to last night?" Chen Cai eyed him curiously.
This drowsy, worn-out look first thing in the morning—someone who didn't know better might think he spent the night stealing.
Certainly a rare sight.
"Didn't sleep well," Shi Wei's voice was slightly husky, as if he was parched.
"But you love thunderstorm nights, don't you? Usually you sleep best during those, sometimes even till noon."
Shi Wei let out a long sigh: "It's not the weather."
Last night had been his own doing, acting pitiful to garner sympathy. Yet he hadn't anticipated how restless the young lady was in her sleep—groggy kisses and hugs aside, her hands wandered all over, brushing and groping.
She slept soundly, leaving him wide awake and tortured all night.
"Was it the bed, then?"
"You wouldn't understand, single dog."
Chen Cai: "..."
Feeling personally attacked.
Chen Cai pouted and opened a thermal box, placing it in front of him.
The familiar scent wafted into Shi Wei's nose, making his brow furrow. He raised an eyelid and shot Chen Cai a cold glare: "You can only make one type of soup?"
Cooking soup every so often would be forgivable—except every single time it was the same flavor. Whether he had tired of drinking it, he was certainly tired of smelling it.
"Boss, today's soup is different," Chen Cai promised earnestly. "I added three herbs for kidney nourishment—huangqi, plus—"
Before he could finish, a throw pillow smacked him in the face.
Shi Wei's piercing gaze: "Get out."
"Alright." Chen Cai quickly stood and began heading for the door, only to sneak back cautiously before leaving: "Boss..."
Shi Wei: "One more word and you can report to HR."
Chen Cai shook his head like a rattle spread with caution: "Boss, I have real news."
"Shi Yin called earlier. He's coming by the office to discuss something with you."
At this, Shi Wei pondered for a moment, his penetrating black eyes flashing briefly.
Thirty minutes later, Shi Yin arrived at the CEO's office carrying a folder.
His suit was meticulously tailored, with every button of his shirt fastened neatly and his hair carefully styled, exposing a smooth forehead.
While his appearance was striking, his most notable feature was his tranquil demeanor—like someone who had weathered enough storms to exude nothing but serene composure.
Sitting across from Shi Wei, he wore a standard smile: "President Shi."
The title deliberately ignored their relationship, or perhaps refused to acknowledge it.
Shi Wei was used to this approach, showing no surprise. He glanced at the folder in front of Shi Yin: "What do you want to discuss?"
Shi Yin opened the folder and pushed it toward him: "This project, I want to collaborate with Xing Ye."
His company had been around for a while. Although far smaller than Xing Ye, its reputation had steadily grown over the years.
This was the first time he'd proactively come forward to propose a collaboration. Shi Wei leafed through the document, skimming it with interest.
Coincidentally, the project in question related to a piece of land he had already rejected earlier.
The site was suburban and expansive—a property Shi Yin's small company couldn't possibly secure on its own.
"Why would I partner with you?" Shi Wei smirked, his eyes sharp. "You should know—it'd be effortless for Xing Ye to take this project solo."
His tone was undeniably arrogant yet carried an inexplicable appeal that made it hard to resent.
After all, he was simply stating the truth: Xing Ye didn't need another company's help, nor the need to share a slice of the profit.
Shi Yin's expression didn't waver. He carefully presented the potential returns and benefits of cooperation: "If Xing Ye agrees to work with me, it creates a win-win situation. I'm willing to settle for a 30-70 split."
"Thirty-seventy?" Shi Wei chuckled dryly, his gaze sarcastic. "Do you think that's worth my time?"
Xing Ye's annual expenditures far outweighed the profits from this project. A three-seven split essentially played into Shi Yin's favor.
Shi Yin deliberated for a moment before conceding: "How about 20-80?"
Shi Wei didn't respond right away. Instead, he tapped his fingers rhythmically on the table: "Are you desperate for money or in some kind of trouble?"
It wasn't lost on him that Shi Yin had always treated Xing Ye as a rival. Whenever a major project had arisen, Shi Yin would invariably intrude, determined to be involved.
