Chapter 90 - 089: Memories of Childhood

This was the first time he had such an urgent desire to collaborate with him. It was truly hard not to overthink.

Seeing the other party playing dumb, Shi Wei leaned back in his chair in a relaxed posture and pointed at the document. "This project had an accident before and won't make much profit."

"What kind of accident?" Shi Yin furrowed his brows slightly, the confusion in his expression making it clear he was still in the dark.

Shi Wei patiently explained the situation to him, teasing him, "You didn't even do your homework properly, and you still want to discuss collaboration?"

Shi Yin was momentarily speechless, embarrassed, and stood up awkwardly. "Sorry for wasting your time."

As he was gathering his materials and about to walk out, suddenly, a deep voice stopped him.

Shi Wei rummaged through a pile of documents on his right, and finally threw a folder with a blue sticky note attached to it over to him.

Shi Yin's eyes flashed with a moment of surprise, but he couldn't help opening the document and quickly scanning through it.

The project in his hands was miles better than the one he had brought over, not only extremely stable but also highly profitable.

Suppressing the shock in his heart, he spoke with a dry throat, "What do you mean?"

"Do you have eighty million?" Shi Wei raised his brows, his tone casual.

"Yes."

"Then as you said earlier, seventy-thirty split."

Even though his intentions were clear enough, Shi Yin couldn't help but want to confirm, "You're saying you want to collaborate with me?"

"What else?" Shi Wei displayed a look of disdain and waved him off. "Go get ready already."

Shi Yin nodded, clutching the folder and stepping out. But before he had made it a few steps, he stopped again.

Turning around, his eyes flickered. "Thanks."

Shi Wei looked indifferent. "No need. You're still making money for me."

Shi Yin didn't refute, but the smile on his face grew more genuine, mixed with a touch of warmth.

All the way out of Xing Ye, his mood had never been so good.

The document in his hands was something he flipped through dozens of times; along with excitement, he felt a bit more gratitude toward Shi Wei.

He supported his hand on the car window, gazing at the bustling street outside while letting his thoughts drift.

When the traffic light turned red and vehicles were forced to stop, two little boys crossed the street, hand in hand, carrying small school bags on their backs.

The shorter of the two walked unsteadily and was about to fall when, in that moment, his older brother quickly caught him, crouching down to let the younger boy climb onto his back.

This scene made Shi Yin inevitably recall his childhood with Shi Wei.

That winter, at only four years old, Shi Yin was brought into the Shi Family by Shi Beiming as his friend's orphan to live in the household.

The Shi Family courtyard was vast, far more luxurious than the humble little home he had originally lived in. Nervously, he sat on the couch, clutching the cotton jacket, quietly waiting for Shi Beiming to bring his older brother to the main hall.

The sound of footsteps outside made Shi Yin instinctively look over, nervous yet also tinged with a thread of expectation. frёewebηovel.cѳm

When the slender boy in the blue down jacket appeared before him, Shi Yin was momentarily stunned, his gaze becoming evasive.

He lowered his head slightly, looking at the somewhat worn grey cotton jacket he was wearing, and felt a wave of inferiority rise within him.

His older brother was so good-looking, his clothes so clean—he probably wouldn't want to play with a dirty kid like him.

But to his surprise, before Shi Beiming had even introduced them, his brother ran up to him, saying, "Hi, I'm Shi Wei."

Shi Wei smiled at him, his fair and slightly chubby cheeks carrying a hint of baby fat. Even his voice was soft and cotton-like, evoking an immediate sense of affection.

"I'm Shi Yin..." Shi Yin blinked and shyly returned a small smile.

Previously, he had no name. At the orphanage, everyone called him "Little Yin." The surname Shi was given to him by Shi Beiming before bringing him here.

The two children sat together closely. Shi Wei glanced at the clothes he was wearing and turned to Shi Beiming. "Dad, let me take my little brother to change clothes first."

Shi Wei was about the same age as Shi Yin, but perhaps because he had lost his mother early, he was much more mature than other kids of his age.

Upon hearing the family would have a younger brother join, Shi Wei had personally prepared a number of gifts, determined to play the role of a good older brother.

Shi Wei took his hand and led him to the bedroom, picking out a blue down jacket from the wardrobe and handing it to him. "After you change, I'll take you to play."

"Alright." Kids love playing, and upon hearing his brother say they'd play, Shi Yin changed clothes much faster.

In the courtyard, the trees and grass were covered by a thick layer of snow. In the midst of the white expanse, the vibrant green stood out starkly.

Shi Wei and Shi Yin crouched under a big tree, using the fallen snow to build little snowmen.

Shi Yin rolled out one big and one small ball, stacked them together, stole a glance at Shi Wei, and then picked up two small stones from the ground to make eyes and a nose for the snowman.

"Brother, can I pick that flower?" Shi Yin pointed behind Shi Wei; the only thing missing was a mouth, which could only be made using a colorful flower.

Shi Wei glanced back and nodded. "Sure."

"Yeah!" Shi Yin joyfully ran over, picked a small red flower, and gave the snowman a bright mouth.

He patted his cold hands and tugged at Shi Wei's jacket. "Brother, look, I made you."

Shi Wei had finished his snowman by then too. He frowned, examining the snowman intently. "You made me so ugly."

The eyes were mismatched in size, the lips were far too bright. It didn't resemble him at all.

Shi Yin pursed his lips, thought for a moment, and reached out again. "Let me remake it for you then."

"No need." Shi Wei grabbed his hand, pushed his carefully crafted snowman down onto the ground, and rolled up a snowball. "Let's have a snowball fight instead."

"Huh?"

Before Shi Yin could respond, a small snowball gently landed on his blue down jacket.

Soon enough, the sounds of playful screaming and laughter filled the courtyard. The two chased each other, their faces bright with joy.

During the chase, Shi Yin sprinted too quickly. Clumsily, he slipped and fell onto a snowbank near a tree, his clean new clothes stained with dirt.

He lowered his head, looking at his scratched and bloodied hands. His eyes instantly brimmed with tears, sparkling and threatening to spill over, but he stubbornly held them in.

"Brother, are you okay?" Shi Wei grew anxious, quickly dropping his snowball and crouching down in front of him to check his condition.

Shi Yin's voice trembled, tinged with sobs. "I'm fine."

He hid his small hands behind his back, just about to stand up when a sharp pang of pain shot through his ankle.

Shi Yin grew flustered, unable to hold back any longer as tears cascaded down his cheeks. "Brother, I—I can't stand up."
