When she trailed off, the fear especially spiked very high for the new Primalist to feel. The emotion was as strong, real, and full as when the brunette was describing what it would be like to ’lose’ Qatrand. For her to have died drawing away all those lesser Voidlings.

"When you advanced there was a definite chance that you would have tried to latch onto me with your spirit instead of yourself. It would have been like... just like what that Corde thinks. That I am ’making’ you just to be bound to me..."

As she spoke, gradually an essence field stretched along a few of the thicker tendrils. It felt different to Qat than before. Simpler in ways, less composed in others due to the additional ’sense’. In the coming days she would need to practice a lot to be confident in it again...

But as Gravity tugged at the Goltbred, she was confident in this choice. A bit of Intent leaked and made the other girl completely submit - dropping her own essence field and hopping forward into the air slightly. The assisted pull careened her small wife into a ’forced’ tackle-hug.

She held the koala-like cultivator and spun slow circles - with a calloused sword-hand securing Elua’s neck while their lips were pressed firmly together. All her feelings pressed through the spirit wrapping and piercing through that of her wife’s. When she pulled her face back slightly, while leaning her forehead into the temple of the other girl... she didn’t even need to say anything.

Yet, she did.

"That’s silly, El. If anyone was ever made for someone, it was you for me."

The words landed with the weight of a heavy blade. Mint eyes widened, dulled, then flashed back with something ancient and raw. The reincarnator buried her face against Qat’s shoulder, her body tensing and relaxing in waves.

Competing emotions fought for dominance. The way the Acid Tongued cultivator she was at one time would react. The way her facade as the Goltbred heiress should. And the way that something of her that had been building in between those wanted to show.

A state more like growth and change. After centuries of stagnation toward the peaks of cultivation. Rather than either of the two extremes, it was the part of her that was still her but also who she wanted to be - and somehow neither all at once.

"You can’t just say things like that. I’m easily influenced..."

Despite the tone of playful complaint, her spirit curled and wrapped around the tendrils still piercing through her lowered defenses. In a sort of desperate clinging much like how she was doing physically. Qat could feel that the fear had only been the surface.

Beneath it, beneath the coiling and roiling sea of the singular possessiveness Elua called ’loved’, lay a reservoir of loneliness so vast it seemed impossible for anyone to have survived it. Covered by what was meant to be seen, hidden from who should never see it, and impossibly cavernous like the entirety of the cosmos itself laid barren.

At the center of it? Glowed a single point of glowing pigeon-blue light... which the mere acknowledgement of rippled out into an immensity of everything. A singularity that flipped all perception on its head turning the swath of nothingness into everything.

Turning the idea, the person, and the hope of Qatrand herself into everything that propped up and sustained Elua er Goltbred. The inner-cosmic scaffold that was built to restrain herself without losing herself. To accept who she was because the person she loved wanted that for her.

Constellatory mixes of old and new memories, changing and shifting together in the slightest ways to accommodate and compromise. To call it overwhelming would be understating it, yet Qat merely stroked her cute wife’s hair while experiencing it. Nothing how the inner-world of the brunette’s spirit responded to each touch.

Clusters of experience, real and fantasy, firing like the neurons of the human brain that one of her illusory tool lessons had touched on with a similar enough display. Of interconnected points and the signals that traveled between at fantastical speeds.

"What else can you see now in me?"

The question came muffled against black fabric. Audibly hesitant and almost afraid, if Qat was to judge by other criteria like spiritual Intent and the splatter of frantic glows.

"It’s like... I always knew you had depth that you held back. But now I can experience how the pieces connect."

The swordswoman shifted her hold on her wife, snuggling tighter with the person she’d known so many years of her life. While this newfound clarity was overwhelming, it was also precious for the Yecine. She could see better how Elua managed to remain functional despite carrying entire lifetimes of memory.

She could now perceive the careful compartmentalization. And she knew that even all this... could hardly be the whole story. For her El always made sure only to reveal what was safe to reveal and, at the end of the day, her mint-drop was still more than an entire realm above her at Breacher.

"Your spirit is beautiful, El. Complicated and a little frightening, but beautiful. Thank you for letting me see into it."

Elua’s fingers and thighs clutched harder on the muscular teen. The compliment was... simple, but clearly her husband-wife’s real feelings. And to a spiritualist, let alone an illusionist... having their soul called beautiful was better than any amount of being called cute in physical form.

From that corner of her mind experiencing the inner world of the reincarnator, Qatrand saw the vicious pulse of urge. The hazy pink of desire that surged and sparked. Saw how it avoided every section of reality and memory, ringing against darkened Intents of fantasy.

Willfully forcing every bit of the ’hunger’ into non-existence. Or at least, it seemed. But Qat was very sure that if the girl wasted no speck of the swordswoman’s spirit after breakthrough... that every ounce of that physical desire was being stuck somewhere.

’To go through that emotional purification she explained before? I hope so. Please, El, don’t be holding onto the feelings entirely...’

For some reason the idea made the blonde afraid! She knew her hair was shifting back, enjoying the moment of shared intimacy with her wife. How could she remain in her dutiful state when the smaller cultivator was baring her spirit?

"You had no idea what you were saying, you know."

"What do you mean?"

"When you first promised to protect me."

It wasn’t the first time they’d had this conversation, or a variation of it.

"Of course I didn’t, I was a child. But at the same time, I think I did."

"Mm... and I was ancient pretending to be a child. Who only thought she knew how lucky to find you I was."

Qat lowered both of them slowly to sit on the ground against the tree behind them. The smaller cultivator made no move to remove herself from the position, just slightly shifted so that her knees would not strike the trunk..

"But you know what’s different now?"

"What?"

"I understand what that promise means to you. What I mean to you. Maybe even more than at our wedding."

"Qat..."

Fingers traced the edges of the handprint marking Elua’s face. The stain of ichor had long lost its Void component, but the darkness of it still stood out against the paler skin despite the lack of light. Nails scratched softly, digging away some of the remaining material.

"You don’t think the way I go about things is a waste...?"

"Nothing about you has ever been a waste. Even if it was..."

"...it was...?"

That feeling of her skin being scraped, so gently and meticulously by the person she loved, made her question slur. Like a pet enjoying the attention her face leaned firmly into the expression of attention. The only one she’d ever let treat her like this was her Qat... and the only one she’d be okay with removing this was the same person.

"You’d still be cute. And you. My weak spot. My mint-drop."

A sigh somewhere between ’contentment’ and ’exasperation’. Being cherished, indulged, and spoiled so much was bad for her heart, spirit, and Ogre. Her eyes dulled, but voice remained playful as her silver dress slid against black fabric.

Her hands gripped at the shoulders of the ’older’ blonde while raised on her knees, just enough to look down into the pigeon blues instead of up at them. For Qat’s part, she obediently raised her chin to facilitate it.

"What am I going to do with you? Your tongue says sweet things when it wants, it slides in my mouth when I want, mostly, and-"

"El..."

"I want another, Qat. I know it’s a bad idea right now, but I’ve wanted it since you showed off that side of you. That disgust for Kefa. For the very idea of anyone else touching you like this."

Fractionally, steadily closer... she closed the distance as she spoke. Wetting and puckering only slightly. Inevitable and insatiable.

"...El..."

Qatrand’s spirit shook, tendrils filled and tangled with her wife’s cloudy representation of energy. A soft lower lip tapped at the corner of her beloved’s, brushing and trailing against it slowly. Scraping - just like a pair of meticulous fingernails - and sending increasing attention to the location.

Until the blonde could not hold back and parted. Grabbing the waist of the brunette on either side. Giving her the kiss... the continued, deep kissing that the girl wanted. The affection and intimacy that both of them wanted to give and take from each other.

After all, Qatrand er Yecine never did anything which she was unwilling to do.
