The Paladin in the Abyss-Chapter 333 - 347 The Role of the Succubus
Chapter 333: Chapter 347 The Role of the Succubus
Seeing the two men looking toward her, the female Zoel sitting on the magic carpet spoke at length again. This time in a commanding tone, yet unfortunately, Lancelot couldn’t understand a single word.
The language had clear Elvish characteristics, but it was definitely not standard Elvish. His portable translator, although attached to his waist, was still out of commission.
“What did she say?” Lancelot asked Acheron in a low voice, his body tensing, ready for battle at any moment.
“How should I know?” the Elven Ranger squeezed out a few words through clenched teeth, barely moving his lips, “I’m just disguised as a Zoel, not a real Dark Elf!”
“Great,” Lancelot reached for his sword hilt, “why don’t you moan twice, pretend your tongue has been cut off?”
“See those women with spider patterns on their clothes? They’re all Rose’s priests, masters of the evil Divine Arts, and also weapon experts.” Acheron also tensed up but didn’t try to reach for his weapon, “I know you’re formidable, but there are too many enemies. You can’t fight so many spellcasters head-on.”
“Got it,” Lancelot nodded, “Ready to make a run for it?”
“Uh, could you not agree so quickly…” Acheron’s eyes began to roll, searching for a possible escape route.

Seeing the two men ignore her, the female Zoel on the Floating Magic Carpet became angry again. She issued some instructions to the people around her, and immediately one of the Zoel women standing by her side walked toward them, drawing her weapon—a strange whip—as she approached. Lancelot took a quick look and noticed that the whip had five heads, each a snake’s head, hissing in the direction they stood as if eager to taste the flesh and blood of their enemies.
“Or maybe we could take one out before we leave?” Lancelot squinted his eyes, watching the female Zoel Elf approaching him. Indeed, her step was stable and confident, the aura she emitted was no mediocrity, but Lancelot was certain she couldn’t withstand his thunderous strike.
“What are you doing to my servants?”
Just then, a familiar voice rang out, speaking in Abyssal. Elothysia, leading Little Isa, strutted over, appearing utterly unconcerned by the presence of the Zoel Elves.
The Zoels were clearly surprised by the sudden appearance of a Succubus, and the distinguished female Zoel on the carpet asked in not-so-fluent Abyssal:
“Greetings, noble Succubus, are you implying that those two lowly males are your slaves?”
“Yes, they ‘voluntarily’ serve me,” Elothysia replied with a peculiar smile, her expression then turned stern as she scolded Lancelot and Acheron, “What took you so long? You’re holding up Lord Wu’an’s important affairs, beware lest I flay your skins!”
Lancelot and Acheron immediately bowed their heads, appearing very submissive, but the little Vampire behind the Succubus could see clearly—they were both stifling laughter, bowing only to prevent others from seeing through the ruse.
“Lord Wu’an… ‘Lord Wu’an’ Grazzt?” The expressions of the Zoel Elves were extremely shocked, “What does he want with two lowly males?”
“Shut up! Is that name something you can just casually utter?” The expression of the Succubus suddenly turned very fierce, “Do you intend to pry into the secrets of Lord Wu’an?”
“No, we absolutely didn’t mean that.” The Zoel female sitting on the magic carpet hastily apologized, forcing a fawning smile on her face, “We just happened to be passing by and saw a… compatriot, and wanted to greet him. Since you still have business to tend to, we won’t disturb you any further.”
The four stood still, watching the group of Zoel Elves hustle away as if they were fleeing.
“Thank you for that. It seems the identity of a Succubus really is quite useful.” Lancelot laughed softly only after making sure they had gone far, “I thought an intense fight was inevitable today.”
“It’s merely borrowing the tiger’s fierceness,” Elothysia shook her head, “Lord Wu’an is renowned for his fondness of the Succubi’s ‘service’. By invoking his name, as long as there isn’t a major conflict of interest, basically, one can bluff their way through…”
“Alright, I get it,” Lancelot nodded, but noticed that the Succubus was looking at him with a very strange expression, and quickly explained, “What I mean is I’ve learned this piece of knowledge…”
“You might indeed find it useful someday,” Elothysia revealed an understanding smile, “Regarding Succubi, you really do have a lot to learn…”
“Ahem… Our mission is accomplished, we can go back now…” Lancelot awkwardly changed the subject, “I think Koula has already prepared dinner, I wonder what it will be today?”
“What are you guys talking about?” Among the four present, only Acheron looked utterly confused, gazing curiously at Lancelot, “Could it be that you…”
“Yes, I have a Transformation Ring that can turn me into a Succubus,” Lancelot preempted as he headed outside, “By the way, what’s with that group of Zoel? They seemed to disdain men quite a bit…”
“Is it really just as simple as having a Transformation Ring?” Acheron raised his eyebrows, stepping forward to catch up with his companion, “In Zoel society, males are considered the lesser gender. The number of females in a family is seen as a symbol of strength because Rose’s priests must be female. All noble families are ruled by women, with the leader being referred to as the Matriarch, while males are thought to only serve as soldiers, attendants; a few exceptionally talented individuals are sent for magical training, but are still undervalued.”
“But don’t males have an advantage in strength?” Lancelot was quite surprised by this. As a Knight, he had been taught since childhood to respect women and protect children and women—ethical demands that were inherently based on the relatively vulnerable position of females. The social structure of Dark Elves contradicted his ingrained perceptions.
“We Elves are not like humans; the differences in weight between males and females are not that significant,” Acheron shook his characteristic white hair of a Zoel Elf, “And besides, haven’t you forgotten the power of the Divine Arts? With the aid of the Deities, male Zoel Elves can never defeat female priests; all they can do is escape from such a society.”
“Alright, I come from a world where there’s hardly any magic, so I guess that’s where my conventional thinking comes from,” Lancelot shrugged, “But what are these Zoel doing in the Abyss? From their looks, they seem to be here on an organized mission…”
“I happen to know about that,” Elothysia spoke up, “Those Zoel Elves are here to ‘seek progeny’.”
