Chapter 335: A new Chapter- II

I felt the need to conceal the contents of the letter. But then I decided otherwise. He was going to read them anyway because Tristan wanted to check if I was talking about my Escape or not. So, it made no sense for me to hide anything from him.

Placing the quill Back into the port, I left the ink dry on their first two cards before turning around in my seat to look at Tristan hours staring out of my bedroom window.

"You have a good view of the gardens. I now understand why these are called the queens Chambers."

"Why?" I asked, curious about his opinion. I had seen the view from the windows maybe a thousand times but it never interested me enough to draw this conclusion.

"because my room does not have a view like this. Its overseas entrance to the kingdom, where in case of an attack the horns will be blown. Perfect view for a king." He smiled. "And a garden full of flowers for You, someone who cannot withstand the ruins and chaos of war."

True.

I glanced at the letters that were still drying, being reminded of the question I was yet to ask him. "Who are you sending?"

"Soloman." Tristan answered. "He is someone you know and trust."

I don’t know him and I did trust him to a certain level, I did before I saw him holding a servant by the throat and threatening her.

"It is a journey of two weeks to leave this country and reach the palace. How long will it take Solomon to deliver and come back with Estelle’s message?" I could not wait for my sisters reply. This time, I knew it would be right.

Tristan had a hint of a smile on his face regardless of my questioning. "A day. He will leave tonight, receive the letter from her tomorrow, and will be in front of you by The night after tomorrow."

"That soon?" The surprise in my voice was unconcealable. That was the quickest someone could cover the journey between the two kingdoms and Astria was quite close to mine in comparison to others.

"Yes," he nodded, coming closer. " It could be sooner but I do not want Soloman to be traveling alone in unfamiliar territory In the light."

Even though Solomon was someone who could take care of himself in the most complicated situations, Tristan still cared for his friend. He cared enough to make me wait a day when he could have gained my favor by bringing it tomorrow night.

"Are you done?" He pointed at the letters.

"Not yet," I sighed, not bothering to hide them from him. "I am yet to write a little bit more."

"Go ahead then," he nodded towards them. "I want to have The last meal with you before you go to sleep."

Instead of feeling the pressure and overwhelming feelings on me whenever I have to do it with him, I felt warmth in my chest.

I smiled and looked up at him. "See you soon."

******

Tristan left after I said that. When I was finally done writing a long letter to my sister, I found Soloman outside my room waiting for me.

Handing the letter to him, I worked alongside him to the stairs before he disappeared to go to the courtroom and I turned to the corridor where I knew Merelyn stayed.

It was a familiar corridor, Particularly where the corner I remembered to have been bitten by Merelyn.

The door that I had once gone in and found her with Alan opened and she moved to stand in front of me.

"I heard it was you." She said, smiling gently. "What are you doing down here? You should have called me."

I smiled and shook my head. " are you an occupied at the moment? I would like to talk to you."

"Yes, yes. Come." Merelyn took my hand in hers before leading me inside. Nothing has changed much, or at all to be honest as I noticed the moment I stepped in.

She led me to the parlor and closed the door. Marilyn walked over to the small kitchenette and started brewing the tea. This seems like something Merelyn would do. Even in the palace when she was my lady in waiting, she would hardly ever task anything to others and now she was still the same. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

She would do it herself rather than asking The kitchens to do it for her.

"there is something on your mind. Tell me what it is."

Of course, she recognised that there was something on my mind.

"today, I expressed My concern about what was going on back home and Tristan offered to send someone with a handwritten letter from me in case I was worried that someone would intercept it in between. He asked Solomon to do it and I will receive it the night after tomorrow. At the earliest."

"And?"

"And.." I wondered and..

And that he did not have to do it for me? That he could have chosen to say now after all that I had done?

And, the fact that he has chosen to forgive and move on from the small Coup after deciding the punishment and carrying it out like he said he would.

That every time he said that he was ready to move on, he did and I was the one who was staying in the past, stuck there yet, hopelessly never moving on?

The sound of the teacup being placed in front of me put me out of my thoughts. Merlin looked at me with a knowing look. "Say it, Evie."

Evie. The name my mother will call me with. The name I allowed Merlin to call me when I thought no one was listening to us.

"I do not like the way I have been feeling, Merylin." I confessed, staring into the tea. " I do not like this feeling in my heart."

"Hmmm," she smiled, "but who are we to deny the feeling of love?"
