The Soul System in the Apocalypse-Chapter 41: Grand Rewards

The moment that Henry launched an attack, he knew that there was going to be a shockwave that would be created the moment that the attack landed.

For that reason, the moment he attacked, he immediately rushed towards Olivia. He had already noticed the moment that she fell on the ground.

There was no way that he was going to allow her to die, considering that she had assisted him in dealing with the monster, and he was aiming to recruit her.

He swooped in just in time to carry her and shield her from the shock wave. Using his armor, he managed to block the shockwave from dealing any damage to him. As for Olivia, he protected her from the shock wave using his body.

For that reason, he had no choice but to pull her closer to him, to prevent her from directly feeling the shockwave. But by doing that, he had increased the contact between the two of them.

When Olivia opened her grey eyes, she directly stared at the brown eyes that were staring back at her. Her mind went blank for a moment, as she began processing the current situation that she was in.

This was actually the first time that she was coming in contact with a man other than her father. And, the man was actually carrying her. Just thinking of this, anger flared in her heart, as she thought that Henry was taking advantage of her.

She had completely forgotten about the shockwave, and the fact that she was just about to die. She gritted her teeth as she managed to say in a low voice, "Put me down!"

Although her voice was low, it was completely firm. Had it not for the reason that her body had already lost a lot of energy, she would have already attacked Henry.

Henry raised his brows when he heard her words. But all the same, he completely ignored her angered gaze, as he continued shielding her.

Had it not for the fact that the two had cooperated during the attack, and he deemed her as an important ally, he definitely wouldn’t have cared about her. In the apocalypse, it was a period of time where everyone was selfish.

When she saw that Henry was actually not reacting to her words, the anger that was burning in her eyes immediately increased. At the same time, she thought in her heart that, the moment that she regained her mobility, she was going to attack Henry. It didn’t matter to her whether he was stronger than her or not.

Henry of course didn’t know about what she was thinking. Otherwise, he would have definitely thrown her aside. He was acting as a good Samaritan, yet the other person misunderstood him.

Olivia was the same. She had also leveled up to level 9. This was a reward that was equally shared by the two of them because, they had succeeded together.

Just as Henry was feeling the increase in his power, he suddenly felt a chilling breeze on his chest. The next moment, he was suddenly blasted backwards, while an extremely chilling energy surrounded his body.

At that moment, he felt that his blood was about to be frozen. Without hesitation, he immediately activated the energy present in his body as he summoned fire around him.

This was something that he had done subconsciously, that he didn’t even know that he had released fire, and it was not in the form of any skills that he possessed.

As he landed on the ground, another system prompt appeared in front of him.

Henry didn’t focus on the prompt that had appeared in front of him. Instead, with dissatisfaction in his heart, he got to his feet as he stared at Olivia.

Olivia was standing a few feet away from him, looking at him with a chilling gaze. The anger within her eyes had subsided a little. All the same, she didn’t have a good expression on her face.

Due to the leveling up, she had managed to recover the energy that she had spent. And for that reason, she had managed to get up. During the time that she was in Henry’s hands, she blasted him with an ice ball, before landing on the ground as he flew backwards.

Although she had attacked, she didn’t attack viciously. Otherwise, with Henry being unguarded, he would have been definitely frozen. This was just a warning to him, as she knew that he was important.

Had any one of them faced the monster alone, they would not have easily succeeded. Of course, that simply applied on Henry. As for herself, she wasn’t sure about handling the monster.

After giving him one last chilling gaze, she turned around and headed towards the previous battlefield that was located in the facility. She wanted to find Sarah.

As for Henry, he could only shake his head. He couldn’t help but wonder how women were. This was not the first time that he was experiencing something like this.

Previously, he had simply helped Adam’s sister, but she had taken him for a pervert. And for that reason, she had been angry at him for over a week.

And this time, he had been simply saving someone, when she suddenly attacked him after she was out of danger. He wondered if it was just him who experienced this or, women were just too ungrateful.

Shaking his head, he decided to throw those thoughts aside for the moment. For how to deal with that tough lady, that was something that he was going to think about later on.

Instead, he first focused on the rewards that they had received from the system. Since the increase in his levels, added to the fact that Olivia was able to get back on her feet, he believed that she too had already received the same reward.

What Henry was happy about the most was the fact that, both of his professions had been leveled up to level 9. That implied that, he was currently just a single step away from reaching the next rank.

Then, there was another reward that came in due to the fact that he was the one who had landed the killing blow on the two-headed wolf.

Even though it was true that he was the one who had spent a lot of energy to deal with the two-headed wolf, it was also true that he had seized several opportunities to attack the two-headed wolf due to the diversions that were created by Olivia.

And for that reason, it could be said that the two of them had all played an important role in dealing with the monster.

But all the same, Henry couldn’t help but feel that he was lucky to be able to deal the final blow on the monster. Otherwise, wasn’t he going to lose the reward that he had received?

Although it was true that due to the fact that they had completed the test, they had managed to end the monster tide earlier done anticipated, Henry couldn’t help but think that he had taken a loss.

Had he faced level 9 apocalyptic creatures, he would have definitely gotten richer. And with that, he would have enough cash to be able to purchase other things present in the system.
