The Soul System in the Apocalypse-Chapter 53: I Want to be Above All But Below One
Chapter 53: I Want to be Above All But Below One
"I will be able to provide you with several skills that will help you get an advantage in this apocalypse."
Olivia thought about it and asked, "What skills are you talking about?" From her perspective, she didn’t think that there was any other way to acquire things, other than killing the apocalyptic creatures.
"As you can see, the armor on my body was given to me by him." Sarah was the one that replied at this moment. After that, she also went ahead and showed Olivia the crossbow and the arrows that she was carrying.
Olivia had already noticed the armor that was worn by the three. And for that reason, previously, she had thought that they had simply gotten the armors after killing the apocalyptic monsters, which then dropped the armors.
Although she didn’t know about the level of the armors, she was sure that they were of a high level, considering that the attacks of the two-headed wolf didn’t do much damage on Henry, despite landing on him several times.
"Are you sure about that?" Olivia asked once again. She had already begun contemplating about the offer that Henry had given.
"Of course, I mean what I say. Other than equipment, I can also give you skill scrolls. These are things that you can only find after killing the apocalyptic creatures of which, the drop rate is very minimal, and it is not assured that the drops would be related to the profession that you have." Henry stated.
The next moment, he took out the skill scroll for Blizzard. This was a scroll that had cost him 6,700 level 2 mutation crystals.
When Olivia saw the scroll, her breathing suddenly intensified. Even though she did not see the details of the scroll in front of her, she could already tell from the aura that was surrounding it that it was related to ice. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"As long as you agree, I can give you several skills that will definitely help you in getting stronger. For example, the scroll that I am holding currently is called Blizzard. This is a three star skill scroll." Henry explained.
"Three stars!" Olivia exclaimed in surprise. The items that had dropped previously were all one star items. And during the moment that they were leaving, they did not find the items. It was obvious that the group that had come to attack them had taken them away, but the group didn’t care to go and search.
"It is not just the skill scroll that is at three stars. But, even the equipment are at three stars." Henry continued enticing her.
Olivia managed to recollect herself, and begin thinking about the matter seriously. Although it was true that she wanted to be independent, there was also a fact that, without support, she was definitely going to have it hard to be able to be on top of everyone.
Additionally, someone like Henry was someone that she could not be on top of easily. After all, it was not just a matter of his combat capabilities that surpassed her, but he even possessed equipment and skill scrolls that were at three stars.
That implied that, they were not starting at the same level. Henry already possessed an advantage over her.
After thinking about it for a while, she finally came to a decision. "Alright then. I will join your team, but, let’s come to an agreement first. I will be doing what your team will be doing, but as long as it is something that goes beyond my principles, then I won’t do it. Additionally, in the team, you will have to give me a position that is only below you, but above everyone else."
Henry finally calmed down after he saw that Olivia had agreed to the proposition. But when it came to the conditions that she was stating to join the team, there were some that he could not agree to.
"The first condition I can agree to. I don’t like forcing people to do things that they don’t want to. But as for the second one, that is not something that I can simply decide. That is something that you will have to work for. If you become lazy, there should be someone else that will be able to replace you." Henry stated.
Olivia narrowed her eyes as she looked at Henry. Then she asked, "I have already agreed to be underneath you, but why is it that I cannot be above everyone else in your team?" There was clear dissatisfaction in her voice.
"I can understand that you possess great combat capabilities. But you should know that you are not the final person that I am going to recruit into the team. So, what if I find someone that has greater combat capabilities than you, and, that person also wants the position of the second in command?" Henry asked as he drove the car towards the dock.
"Are you trying to imply that I will be lazy if my position is guaranteed?" Olivia asked with a frown on her face.
"You can take it however you want, but I still can’t guarantee you the position that you want. You will have to work for it." Henry simply shook his head as he replied.
Olivia pursed her lips as she stared at Henry in dissatisfaction. Although she wanted to say that even he, if he would become lazy, the position of the leader of the group should be left open, so that everyone had a chance for it, but she went against it.
During the apocalypse, it was clear that someone needed to take control. And for that reason, if there was a team that everyone wanted to be the leader of the group, then, internal strife would be more than often.
Additionally, considering the fact that Henry was going to provide the equipment, the skill scrolls, and so on, putting aside his combat capabilities, it was going to be a difficult task for someone else to be able to do the same as he was doing.
In the end, she could only snort and say, "Alright then, I will join your team. But, you have to remember that I have the right to disagree to do something as long as I don’t like it."
"Of course." Henry said with a smile on his face, before he passed the skill scroll to Olivia.
Olivia looked at the details that had appeared in front of her about the skill scroll. Although she had been told by Henry before that it was a three-star skill scroll, she found it hard to believe.
Additionally, just looking at the description of the skill, she felt a little agitated. Without any further ado, she immediately learned the skill. And as she felt the memories of how to utilize the skill, she was somehow satisfied.
If Henry continue to provide her with such skills, she was sure that it wasn’t going to take a very long time before she finally managed to reach the top. Even if she was going to be underneath one person, but she was sure that there was nobody that was going to underestimate her prowess.
Henry parked the Jeep, before the group finally headed towards the yachts. Since they wanted to leave the island, they had to use these water vessels.
"Don’t tell me that you want us to use these yachts to get out of here!" Olivia exclaimed with a frown on her face.
"That is precisely what we are going to do. It is not like we have any other thing that we can utilize to get out of this island." Henry replied before finally boarding the yacht that was the closest.
He couldn’t help but click his tongue at how these people came over in luxurious yachts. These yachts contained a kitchen, a swimming pool, and an entertainment section.
Still, Henry didn’t care about this because he had been on a yacht before. He simply focused on getting to the pilothouse. After getting there, he finally found a map that he was looking for.
He currently wanted to know the location that they were in, so as to set the destination towards his home city. It was just that, the city that he was born in was not boarded by any waterbody.
After looking at it, he suddenly realized that, they were a very great distance away from his home city. He turned around and looked at Olivia and Sarah before asking, "Where are your home?"
"We are from Lockwood City." Olivia replied.
"You are from the same city?" Henry asked with a little surprise.
"Yes." Sarah replied as she nodded.
"Then that makes things easier for us. Adam and I are from Hillstown city. The two cities are just a city away from each other." Henry replied.
But, the only problem that they would be having was that, they would have to cross several cities to be able to arrive at the closest city which was Lockwood city.
"According to the map, we will have to get past Crystal city after getting from the sea." Henry stated as he began making their travel plan.
The group then went ahead and began discussing a few other plans on what they were going to do once they reach their mainland.
The advantage that they possessed was the fact that, they were all from the blazing continent, thus preventing them from spending a lot of time traveling from continent to another.
"You can get to the kitchen so that we can prepare something for ourselves. I’m already starving." Henry stated before entering the system store to purchase a few ingredients. They had not eaten since dawn.
