The Soul System in the Apocalypse-Chapter 67: Using the Zombie Tide Efficiently

After the creature was done chewing the head, it focused on Isaac. And in the next moment, it leaped forward.

Isaac’s eyes widen in horror, as he immediately raised his bow to block the creature.

Snap!

The creatures teeth bit down on the bow, and in no time, the wooden bow snapped into pieces. And due to the fact that the creature had leapt forward with immense force, it blasted heavily onto Isaac’s chest.

Bleurgh!

Isaac was blasted backwards, as several bones in his body were broken. He began bleeding through his mouth, as he stared at the creature as it approached near him again.

The creatures tongue got out of its mouth, and before Isaac could react, the tongue pierced his forehead. Isaac’s eyes widened, and before long, the light in his eyes began fading, as he breathe his last.

The creature retracted its tongue, completely severing Isaac’s head from his body. And while it began chewing, it focused its gaze towards the building in a distance.

Since the surrounding buildings were all low level buildings, the creature was obviously able to see the building which was taller than any of those in the surrounding areas.

Step by step, it began approaching the building. At that time, zombies had also began flooding the area from all directions.

But, the moment that this creature approached, the zombies began shivering, as they opened a path for the creature to pass. It was as if they had met a terrifying creature.

The moment that the creature arrived at a close distance near the building, it began observing it from a far. At this moment, the zombies had already surrounded the place, but, they were all being stopped at 500 m away from the building.

But still, they were all scratching towards the invisible wall, trying to tear it apart so that they can enter.

Steadily, the creature began approaching the invisible wall. And in no time, it arrived in front of it as the zombies in the surrounding area parted ways for it.

Bang!

Using one of its forelimbs, the creature struck the invisible wall. And, the moment that the limb landed on the wall, there was a loud bang, as if two intense forces had collided.

Other than the shaking of the space in front of it, there was no change. At the same time, the creature was also forced to take a few steps backwards by the rebound.

The creature wasn’t willing to give up, as it could detect that inside this building, there was actually something that would be able to enable it to evolve further, and become even more stronger.

It was just about to strike again, when suddenly, it sensed danger. In the next moment, it flipped backwards, evading several ice shards that had shot towards it.

Bang! Bang!

The ground was blasted apart, as ice began spreading in the surrounding area. But surprisingly, the affected part was only the area outside the invisible wall.

Roar!

The creature released a loud roar, before charging towards the invisible once again. But before it could even arrive before it, Olivia appeared in front of it.

Swish!

Olivia could tell that the creature in front of her was at the same level as the zombie that they had dealt with previously. Had it been before she reached the Bronze rank, perhaps she might not have the chance of dealing with it.

But now, she was already at the Bronze rank, and her combat capabilities had increased by a large margin. So, she wasn’t afraid when she faced this creature.

Swish!

Olivia swung her sword that was covered in ice and met with the creature’s long limb that was slashing towards her.

Puff!

The sword easily cut through the limb, severing it from the creature’s body. Filthy black blood began pouring out of the wound, as the creature began retreating while looking at Olivia with horror in its eyes.

Olivia on the other hand took this chance to focus on the creature in front of her. And in no time, information appeared.

[Mutated Barbed tongue zombie.

Power level: Level 1 Bronze rank.

Skills: metallic muscles (passive).]

"It seems that you have some good defenses on you. Otherwise, it would not have been a difficult task for my sword to easily cut off that filthy limb of yours." Olivia said after she read the information about the creature in front of her.

Roar!

As if the creature had been provoked further, it immediately roared, and all the zombies in the surrounding area, as if they had received a command, began surging towards Olivia.

"Humph!" Olivia released a cold snort, and in the next moment, a chilling air began emitting from her body. And in the next moment, the surrounding 100 m radius were frozen, taken back to the ice age.

All the zombies which had been charging towards her suddenly froze into ice sculptures. Since she had already gotten to the Bronze rank, she could easily deal with the normal zombies.

Deciding not to give the creature any more chances, Olivia attacked once again.

Swinging her sword, a cold beam shot towards the mutated zombie. The Zombie’s red eyes dilated, as it could sense immense danger heading its way.

Hurriedly, it began taking a few steps backwards, but, it was not able to dodge the beam that was heading towards it at an incredible speed.

Slash!

Still, the zombie was able to move just in time to avoid the beam from cutting through its neck. Still, the remaining limb was also cut away from the shoulder.

Roar!

Unlike the previous zombie that Olivia had faced together with Henry, this zombie was actually capable of feeling pain. And so, it roared in pain.

At the same time, it began retreating, as it had already detected that it was no much for Olivia. Even though what was present in that building was important, its life was more important.

But just as the zombie turned around, it suddenly felt the surrounding air chilling down. And before it could even react, its head was sent flying.

Thud!

The body of the zombie dropped onto the ground heavily, no longer alive.

After she had dealt with the zombie, Olivia went back into the invisible wall. She was not prohibited from entering, as she was recognized as a member of the territory.

The main reason behind Olivia’s action was simply to give Sarah and Adam time to level up. After all, even if she killed all the zombies present, they were not going to help her to level up. She only needed to kill bronze level and above apocalyptic creatures in order to be able to increase her level.

On the other side, Adam was already using the invisible wall to the maximum. Since all the attacks launched by the zombies could not reach him, he simply stood behind the wall, and attacked.

Thankfully, the invisible wall did not prevent attacks from the inside. As such, all the attacks that he launched landed on the groups of zombies that had already began gathering in mass outside, killing them one after the other.

Adam had already begun enjoying the massacre. Previously, he and Sarah had been surrounded by a large group of zombies, and they had failed to stop the other zombies from approaching Olivia and Henry who were dealing with the giant zombie.

This time, Adam had decided to try and see the method that he could utilize to deal with such a large group of zombies. He didn’t want a repeat of what happened previously.

Boom!

As he slashed with his axe, a shockwave was created before forming a spiral that charged towards the group of zombies in front of him.

This spiral was like a large group of knives, as it began chopping down the large group of zombies in front of him. In no time, all the zombies in front of him were cleared up.

[Congratulations on leveling up to level 9 of your berserker profession.]

Even though there were many zombies present, most of them were at a low level. As a result, the level of improvement was way lower as compared to the time that they were facing the monster tide.

Looking into the distance, Adam could see that there was yet another group of zombies that was charging over. He couldn’t help but wonder, "Just how many zombies have been attracted over?!"

In another direction, Sarah was also dealing with a large group of zombies. Thanks to the invisible wall, she was able to attack freely.

Additionally, with the light element, she was able to melt the bodies of the zombies that she attacked. That was more so during the time that she utilized the purify skill.

Just like Adam, she had also reached level 9. It was just that she was quite some distance away from reaching the Bronze rank.

It was about 3 hours that they finally managed to clear all the apocalyptic creatures that had come towards them. Even monsters were actually amongst the group.

Even though this part of the city was actually with the least population, the large commotion was attracting more zombies from other parts of the city.

After they were done, Henry went ahead and give them more skill scrolls. But, he came to find out that both Adam and Sarah could not learn any more skills, as there was the limit of their current level.

In the end, Olivia was the only one who received two skills from Henry, ice prison, and Hail. But still, she could only learn a single skill as one of the skill slots had already been occupied by the teleport skill that she had learnt previously.
