Chapter 88: Undead Army

[Congratulations on reaching the Bronze rank in the light mage profession.]

With the appearance of the system prompt in front of her, Sarah suddenly felt that she possessed incredible strength. She felt that the power of the skills that she could currently launch had also more than doubled.

While Sarah was still immersed in the feeling of getting stronger, the necromancer on the other hand was completely stunned.

"How is this possible? How can humans be this monstrous? This doesn’t make sense at all!" The Necromancer shouted as it retreated.

Previously, it had secretly refined the corpse that it had previously killed into a puppet that it controlled. Since it was sure that it was not capable of dealing with Olivia, so, it decided to use Sarah.

Using a lot of energy in its body, it resurrected the guy that he hit and slashed into two pieces into an undead. At the same time, it was able to increase the strength of the undead to that of the bronze rank.

And of course, this was not something that could be done easily. It had to pay the price. The undead that it had resurrected was going to last for only 1 hour. After that, it was going to dissipate into ashes. That was the price that was supposed to be paid for increasing the strength of the undead.

But of course, like always, this was not something that could be done on any and every undead. Otherwise, the necromancers were supposed to be invincible.

This was something that could be done by a Necromancer once in every 30 days. And since the undead would not last for even more than one day, that could be considered a last minute resort.

And of course, on top of that, the necromancer was supposed to pay another price, and that was, they were going to enter a period of weakness, where, they would not be able to unleash their full strength for at least 24 hours. It might be even more than that depending on how much strength they had increased for the undead creature.

Since it already knew about this, the necromancer was planning on using Sarah to make sure that Olivia did not attack it. And after that, it was going to try and see if it could obtain Olivia and Sarah and refine them into undead.

But in the end, the plan also failed. The Necromancer had never expected that Sarah was capable of dealing with a bronze rank apocalyptic creature. So, as it was fighting with Olivia, it had ensured that it engaged her, making sure that her attention was not focused on the surroundings, but rather, it was fixed on itself.

And due to that, it had already suffered several grievous wounds. Had it not been for the fact that it had been utilizing the dark energy that it possessed to temporarily seal the wounds to prevent bleeding, it would have already collapse due to over bleeding.

Since the plan had already failed, the Necromancer was completely frustrated, and at the same time, it descended into despair.

Seizing the opening, Olivia attacked without hesitation. This time, she launched the ice age skill. Even though she had already spent a large amount of energy in her body, thankfully, since she possessed a special profession, the energy in her body was way higher than another human of the same level as her.

The Necromancer who had just finally realized that it was still in battle suddenly realized that the surrounding area had had a drop in temperatures.

And before it could react, it suddenly felt that it had been thrown inside a freezing lake. It immediately reacted by trying to summon the barrier around itself like the last time, however, it was too late.

This time, as she attacked, Olivia had not only launched the ice age skill, but instead, she also attacked with the sword.

The Necromancer’s eyes widened as it looked at Olivia in horror. It had never expected that it was going to die here. Even though it was completely unwilling, it felt that its life force was slowly fading away.

It wanted to say something, but, it could not even say a single word, not even making a sound. It could only feel its consciousness suddenly fading away alongside its senses.

The scythe that it was holding in its hand fell onto the ground, as the hand no longer possessed any strength.

Olivia retracted the sword that was deeply lodged inside the necromancer’s throat. And as she watched as the creature fell onto the ground, she finally heaved a sigh of relief.

During the fight, she had realized that this necromancer possessed incredible defensive skills. Even though it did not possess much attack power, when it came to defending, it was the best that Olivia had ever encountered ever since the Apocalypse descended.

That was already frustrating her. No matter how many skills she used, even though she managed to deal several fatal wounds on the necromancer, she didn’t see the momentum of the Necromancer dying down at all.

Additionally, she had simply focused on the Necromancer, making sure that whatever skill that it tried to use, she was able to disrupt it. This way, she was sure that there was no way that the Necromancer was going to attack Sarah.

But, she had never expected that the Necromancer had already bloated on using the corpse that had fallen on the ground to attack Sarah. Thankfully, Sarah was able to deal with the matter. After all, not only were her attacks lethal to the dark creatures, but, she also possessed an SS grade light mage profession.

Feeling the increase in the energy in her body, Olivia finally confirmed that the necromancer in front of her had died. But still, she felt that she was some distance away from being able to reach the second level of the Bronze rank.

"Are you okay?" Olivia asked as she walked towards Sarah after taking the mutation crystal that was present inside the head of the Necromancer.

"Yes. I have already managed to reach the bronze rank." Sarah responded excitedly. Previously, she had already been getting frustrated by the fact that she was not able to reach the Bronze rank before the 3-hour period that they had been given elapsed.

If she did not reach the Bronze rank, then, she was going to be the weakest person in the territory. And of course, she completely ignored the 10 people that had been added to the territory.

"That’s good. We have to get out of here soon. I don’t have a good feeling about the matter. It seems that there is something strange that is going on." Olivia said as she looked at the puddle of black blood that was on the ground. That was all that remained of the creature that had been trying to attack Sarah.

Sarah nodded her head. Just facing the Necromancer, she felt that she was being suffocated. As a person that possessed the light mage profession, she was completely incompatible with the dark creatures.

So, since the air in the underground parking lot had already been contaminated by the dark attacks of the Necromancer, she felt that she had to get out of here. She didn’t feel comfortable staying here.

Without seeing anything else, she cast the healing spell on Olivia, treating the injuries that she had suffered. It was also during this time that Olivia noticed that dark energy had somehow seeped into her body.

But thankfully, Sarah’s light energy was capable of completely erasing all the dark energy that was in her body.

The two of them walked towards the entrance of the underground parking lot. And when they reached there, they realized that during the time that the fight was going on, the storm that was ongoing outside had unknowingly ended.

The streets outside were completely silent, and they could not see even a single figure walking, other than the cars that were completely trashed.

The level of water outside was also high, considering the amount of the storm. But still, the two of them did not have any difficulty in moving.

As they continued to move, they made sure to pay attention to their surroundings. Olivia was having a feeling that after this storm had ended, there was something else that was going to descend.

The Necromancer that they had encountered in the underground parking was another sign that the apocalypse was getting more dangerous. Additionally, unlike any other any Necromancer, the one that they encountered did not possess the undead army.

The necromancers always depended on their undead army. But the one that they faced did not possess one. Additionally, had it not been for the fact that the Necromancer did not possess incredible attack skills, then, Olivia was bound to suffer much more.

And, looking at the empty streets that did not possess even a single zombie, Olivia was also having a feeling that, the presence of the Necromancer was somehow related to the zombies’ disappearance.

Since Olivia was familiar with Crystal City, she didn’t have much difficulty knowing what way to follow. Even though the landscape of the city had already been changed due to the storm, she was still able to determine the direction of the territory.

"Why did you do this?!"

As the two of them moved, they suddenly heard a loud shout that was filled with both anger and sadness.

Olivia frowned. Even so, the two of them moved cautiously towards the direction of the sound. They found out that they were not that far from the source of the voice.

After a bend, Olivia and Sarah noticed that there was a large group of people. And, in front of them, there was an undead army.
