"Aurelia, support me from behind," Neraxis ordered, and before she could even respond, he used {Sword Dash} right on the apostle.

But to his surprise, the apostle didn’t even try to dodge, merely taking the attack head-on.

Yet, the resilience Neraxis was expecting was nowhere to be seen, as his sword merely cleaved through the apostle’s neck, slicing it in two.

However, even as the head was falling to the ground, that same creepy smile from earlier still remained.

[1x (E- Ranked Apostle) ??? of the Gluttony Sovereign Slain! Reward: Stigmata 71.3% -> 71.9%]

It’s a decoy... No wonder. Neraxis thought, letting out a sigh and turning toward Aurelia.

"Nevermind."

"But... he was strong a moment ago, and he let you kill him?" Aurelia said with curiosity, to which he merely shrugged.

"Stuff happens. Maybe his morale hit rock bottom or something."

Despite the lively atmosphere between them, their conversation was soon interrupted by another tremor.

Neraxis remembered seeing wolves and other monsters that were shown to him by the Gluttony Sovereign himself.

Even though he initially doubted the Gluttony Sovereign, the sight of wolves running and lunging at people soon confirmed his suspicions.

"Let’s go find your sister," Neraxis suggested, and Aurelia, who upon taking in the sight below, nodded in response.

Like earlier, he slashed the sword down, making a hole appear in the ground through which both of them jumped down.

However, unlike before, the B ranked girl was nowhere to be seen. Therefore, he had to deal with all the monsters down here himself.

Most were simply E- ranked wolves, while the others were some kind of giant rats and kobolds.

Both types of monsters were weak, so he practically sliced through them on the way to the outside.

At the same time, he asked, Evangeline, could you spot Emily for me?

[...Give me a moment. I’m still a bit shaken by what I saw earlier,] she replied anxiously. Your next chapter awaits on novelbuddy

I understand. It was a bit... peculiar, so take your time, Neraxis assured.

Rushing her would do no good, and at the same time, he could deal with the monsters at hand.

A pair of kobolds approached, and with a single horizontal swing of his sword, Neraxis killed them all while simultaneously navigating across the halls with Aurelia tightly behind him.

Yet, even as the minutes passed, he could barely see any other people around.

Most were either lying dead on the ground or somewhere else.

Therefore, he turned toward the window to his side and swiftly shattered it.

Below was a single slope leading downward onto the ground, almost like some kind of slide.

He waited for the glass to fully get out of sight before he grabbed Aurelia’s hand and soon jumped through the window.

"Hey! Wha—" Aurelia screamed, startled. But her screams were cut short by the air pressure as they soon landed on the slope and began sliding down.

Just in case, he kept his eye out for any nearby monsters, and soon, his caution was rewarded.

Off in the distance was a pigeon-like monster, yet it had a very long tail, which it used as a whip.

But that whip did not mean much to Neraxis, who merely stretched out his hand, and as the monster’s tail approached, he grabbed it.

In an instant, the monster’s body shriveled up, deteriorating, its ashes falling to the ground.

Soon, they finally made it to the bottom of the Fortress, landing in some shallow ocean water that was dyed red from the blood.

Off in the distance, he could finally see people, and they were actively fighting against much stronger monsters than those in the Fortress’s halls.

Thankfully, Emily was one of the people fighting, and alongside her were the rest of the club members, each sporting different kinds of weapons and efficiently killing the monsters.

They’re not half bad... But where’s that B-ranked girl? He was growing a bit suspicious. After all, how could such a strong person disappear?

Nonetheless, setting those worries aside, he walked over to Emily with Aurelia, who looked both relieved and excited.

"Sis!" Aurelia yelled, catching Emily’s attention, who, upon looking back, immediately began running straight at Aurelia and giving her a hug.

"Do you know how worried I was!?" Emily scolded. "Even after the monsters came along and we searched for the two of you, you were nowhere to be seen! Just what were you two doing together in private!?"

Noticing a slight blush on Emily’s face, he sighed. "It’s not like that. We were just deeper in the castle than you guys."

"Y-Yeah, we didn’t do anything weird or stupid, haha..." Aurelia added with an equally embarrassed look.

Seriously. He was in disbelief at the sisters’ duo, but his disbelief was soon interrupted.

In the distant ocean, some kind of water pillar shot up, and inside it, Neraxis could just barely spot some sort of figure.

It was a dark green monster—a massive one at that—almost like a giant octopus.

Therefore, It didn’t take long for him to realize what it was. A fucking Kraken.

They were C ranked monsters back in the past, but due to their sheer size and strength, it was hard to truly estimate their power.

There were people with inspection skills, and regular devices didn’t work.

Safe to say, unlike now, when he could see a monster’s rank, such information wasn’t available to him in the past.

Nonetheless, he readied himself, and before the others could even react, he dashed through the shallow water, approaching the Kraken.

Surprisingly, not too far away from the monster, he was able to spot the B-ranked girl desperately fighting for her life, nearly being waterboarded with each attack.

He finally had a good view of the Kraken monster, and soon, Neraxis used {Sword Dash} and appeared right in front of it before simultaneously using {Simple Horizontal Slash}.

Despite its size, he was able to get a decent hit in, drawing blood easily since it seemed like he managed to pierce a blood vessel.

Therefore, he followed up, stretching out his hand and using {Crimson Sovereignty’s: Blood Sovereignty}.

[86x Blood Construct Summoned! Type: Attack—Self-Destructing Blood Slugs]

Oh? I was able to summon so many. My blood usage efficiency has increased after my rank-up, Neraxis deduced with a smile, and soon, a massive explosion rang out, sending him hurtling down into the water.

It was no longer as shallow, and as he looked back up, he noticed the Kraken’s look full of hatred, a portion of its ugly face missing.

Shit. He was in a bad spot—unable to dodge in time, therefore he raised his sword, hoping to slice the tentacle in two.

However, he did not need to wonder long, as all of a sudden, the B-ranked girl dashed in, cleanly slicing off the Kraken’s tentacle.

Yet, what was even more surprising was her weapon of choice.

A scythe.

"Hey, Aurelia’s friend, you alright?" she asked.

"I’m fine. You’re pretty good with a scythe," he remarked, standing up.

The water was up to his waist, which really did not help him much in the fight.

"Yeah, my grandpa taught me how to use the scythe. It’s a pretty goo—"

"But you’re not holding it right," Neraxis cut in.

She furrowed her brows. "Huh? What do you mean?"

"You hold it like you’re going to cut some grass. Is that really how you’re going to fight? What’s your name?" Neraxis asked, startling her with his change in demeanor.

"Sona... but could you expand on what you mean?"

"Yeah, Sona. But not right now," he said before lunging backward, dodging a massive tentacle.

"We have to kill this massive Kraken first."
