Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Just Ordinary

"Miss, Crystal is healthy again."

"Thank you!" novelbuddy.c om

Rosalind Louise took the vibrant Crystal from the medical practitioner and rubbed her cheek against the Titanium Ragdoll's fluffy body, "You worked hard too today, Crystal!"

"Meow" (?>?<)☆

"Oh, I had so much fun today. As an extra reward, the room where we held the interview this afternoon will be your private office from now on."

After petting the cat, Rosalind Louise looked at David Jones and nodded satisfactorily with a relaxed tone.

"Thank you for the reward, CEO Louise." David Jones habitually expressed his gratitude, feeling that the benefits offered by the beautiful boss he met during today's interview were a bit overwhelming.

"You? CEO? I wanted to tell you during the interview, I don't like such formal titles."

Rosalind Louise frowned slightly and then added, "Don't use honorifics in the future, just call me Rosalind."

"All right." David Jones obediently nodded his head. He would have to follow what the person in front of him - his future leader, Rosalind - says. After all, she has given so much already!

"Fine, that's it for today. Discuss specific matters with Petite Melody. I have some things to do, so I'll leave first."

Rosalind Louise glanced at her delicate watch, seemingly losing interest in further conversation.

David Jones watched Rosalind Louise's departing figure, lost in thought. What a magical day it had been.

After the interview, he inexplicably had a battle with a master trainer, and unbelievably he won, earning himself a Titanium Ragdoll worth millions of Star coins.

"Hey, stop staring! She's already gone!"

A straightforward voice suddenly came to his ears, and David turned to look at the amateur secretary referee.

"My name is Melody Guan. Let's exchange contact information first. Oh, and you should work at least one day a month. Remember to let me know in advance on the day you report to work."

David took out his phone and exchanged contact information with her, taking note of her name for future reference.

"Because your contract is special and requires some changes to the terms, the signing can only take place on the day you start work. Mr. Jones, do you have any other questions?"

Melody Guan explained the work process to David Jones clearly and concisely.

"No, that's all."

...

Night fell.

In a luxurious room within Ragdoll Mall, an exquisite Arcane Crystal chandelier hung from the beautifully decorated ceiling, emitting a dreamy brilliance.

At the exquisite dinner table, Rosalind Louise was elegantly eating her dinner, while Melody Guan stood upright and dignified behind her.

After finishing her meal, Rosalind Louise wiped her mouth with a napkin. She seemed to sense something and asked casually, "What's the matter? You've been distracted since this afternoon. Did something happen at home?"

"No, nothing." Melody Guan immediately bit her lip nervously upon hearing this.

"If you have any questions, just ask. Don't be afraid. I can feel your inner doubts and struggles even with my back turned to you."

"I, I just think that in the battle this afternoon, you didn't take it seriously, even, even..." Melody Guan stammered, not daring to express her inner doubts.

"Even deliberately lost to him, right, Petite Melody?" Rosalind Louise said casually, her tone calm.

"No, no! That's not it." Melody Guan's eyes instantly became flustered, and she quickly shook her head.

"Petite Melody, don't be nervous. There's no unbeatable trainer in the world, and besides, I'm just a simple researcher and pharmacist, right?"

Rosalind Louise furrowed her brows and spoke casually.

"Ah, yes, that's right." Melody Guan nodded hurriedly, "I'm sorry, Miss, my performance today was really terrible!"

"It's alright, even though we haven't spent much time together, I quite like your straightforward and capable personality, free of pretense."

Rosalind Louise reassured her secretary with a smile.

"However, losing is losing. There's no shame in that. If you say I rigged the match, I might just sue you for defamation!"

Rosalind's tone was teasing, as if joking.

"I'm very sorry, Miss." Melody Guan's face turned pale instantly, devoid of any color.

Rosalind surreptitiously touched her own ear, seemingly feeling the heat. She calmly turned her gaze to the beautiful night view outside the window, pondering in her heart.

Was the pet battle in the afternoon so obvious? It was my first time rigging a match! Even Petite Melody has noticed it!

...

David Jones didn't stay long. Throughout his conversation with Melody Guan, her gaze at him was always filled with surprise and confusion, making him feel uncomfortable. He simply cut the conversation short and took the initiative to leave.

Back at the apartment, after a busy day, David Jones laid down on his comfortable bed listlessly. The cyan rune circle disappeared in a flash, and Rainbow's figure appeared on David's chest in the blink of an eye.

"Yiyi!" (Strengthen, strengthen!)

Seeing the excitement in Rainbow's cute eyes, David Jones smiled helplessly, "Later, let me finish my cultivation tonight, and then I'll help strengthen you."

"Yi" (╯﹏╰)b

Disappointed with a tilted head, Rainbow turned away with a sad twist, curling up directly beside the pillow, clearly not in the mood to continue communicating with David.

"Alright, alright, I can't stand you." David Jones smiled wryly, was it really that urgent? It's not like he wasn't going to help strengthen her.

But honestly, for Rainbow to love his massage strengthening so much, he was genuinely happy from the bottom of his heart.

David Jones got up from the bed with a smile on his face, intending to comfort Rainbow.

The next second, a familiar "buzz" came from his pocket, the sound of the phone vibrating.

He instinctively took out his phone, and his eyes were involuntarily drawn to the incoming call prompt on the screen.

"Hello, your package has arrived, please come and pick it up."

"Alright." David Jones hung up the phone, hugging Rainbow who was curled up in a ball, just like comforting a child, "Okay, don't be angry anymore, cheer up. Your food just arrived, so let's go pick it up together."

David opened the door to see a delivery guy wearing a blue uniform with the words "Rainbow Eagle Express" on it standing at the entrance, holding a package.

"This is your package; please show me the pick-up code." The delivery guy looked curiously at the bundled pet in David's arms, as he rarely saw such adorable pets.

The pick-up code is a necessary procedure for retrieving packages to ensure that the recipient is the Trainer in person.

After all, goods sold in the pet market are exclusive to Trainers and strictly prohibiting selling to ordinary people.

Trainers caught selling these goods to non-Trainers would be severely punished by the Trainer Guild, even to the extent of revoking their Trainer qualifications.

Receiving the package from the delivery guy, David Jones glanced casually at the well-wrapped parcel and nodded in satisfaction, then said a string of numbers.

"Beep, sign-off successful." This was the sound of the delivery guy's phone prompt.

"Thank you for choosing Rainbow Eagle Express." The delivery guy left after confirming that the procedure was in order.

"Yiyi? Yiyi!" (?ω?) (Food? What is it!)

Curiously, Rainbow looked at the parcel in David's hands and stretched her tongue out to tentatively touch it.

"Hey! Don't, it's dirty and not edible."

David Jones quickly stopped Rainbow's curious action.
