The Strongest Onmyoji and the Shikigami With AI are Unparalleled in Another World ~ A Second Life Properly Enjoyed Using Artificial Intelligence ~-Chapter 114 - The Sea is Vast and Wide
The morning after I went out to eat with Leanne, we were having breakfast in my room.
“How was yesterday?”
AI-chan, who was munching on some bread, asked.
“We had a meal at a nice restaurant, nothing unusual.”
“I caught a glimpse of Leanne-san, and she was dressed to the nines.”
“That’s just good grooming.”
“Is that so?”
Yes, it is.
“By the way, I asked about the work matter. If you go to the guild, Kenneth will introduce you.”
“Oh, that’s great, Lily!”
“Yeah! Yuuma is really reliable.”
Well, of course.
“So, are you going to the guild now?”
Natalia asked.
“Not like I have anything else to do.”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
We’ve done enough sightseeing and shopping.
The only thing left is to laze around at the inn.
“…Yeah, I’m bored.”
“Well, let’s go earn some money.”
It seems Alice and Annie have no issues either.
“Alright! Let’s head out after breakfast!”
We were hurried by the energetic Lily as we finished our breakfast.
After finishing breakfast, we got ready and headed to the guild.
When we arrived at the guild, as usual, there were a lot of people gathered in front of the bulletin board where the job requests were posted.
As we were watching the crowd, Kenneth came over to us.
“Good morning.”
“Ah, good morning.”
I returned Kenneth’s greeting.
“I’ve heard from the guild master. Please, follow me.”
Kenneth prompted us, and we headed to the reception area.
Several receptionists were seated there, but Kenneth sat at an empty desk.
Or rather, that was the desk Sonia usually sat at.
“What happened to Sonia?”
“Ha ha... The guild master gave Sonia, who’s always working hard, a special six-day vacation.”
Kenneth gave a dry laugh, looking exasperated.
“Wow… Master, that little girl is serious.”
Six days is the duration of our stay. During that time, she managed to get rid of that wicked woman.
“Bullying isn’t good, you know.”
“It’s not like that. Sonia is our ace, and she has a lot of trust from the guild master. Well, maybe it’s because that trust is too strong… Sonia said she was happy to go shopping. We’ve got a pretty tough workload too.”
Well, I guess that’s fine.
“So, I’d like to get to work.”
“Yes… that lovesick airhead… Excuse me. I’ve heard from the guild master. What kind of job would you prefer? Do you have any specialties or preferences?”
Seems like Kenneth has his own thoughts on this…
“Hunting or gathering. That’s mostly what we did in Celia.”
“I see, I see. In that case, outdoor work might be better. Which would you prefer, the forest to the west or the sea to the east?”
“There’s a sea?”
“Yes. It’s an inland sea, but it’s there. Fishing boats go out from there, and there’s a request to exterminate the monsters on the coast.”
We can take forest jobs in Celia, so the sea might be a good choice.
“What kind of monsters are there?”
“Goblins, slimes, that sort of thing. Also, some big crabs and sahagins come from the sea.”
“What’s that?”
“Big crabs and mermen. Magic works well on both.”
Hmm…
“I’m not too keen on the mermen, but can you eat those crabs?”
“They’re poisonous. But from what people who’ve eaten them say, they have a bland taste and aren’t very good.”
The poison can be dealt with, but bland taste, huh…
“What do you want to do?”
I asked the four people behind me.
“…The sea sounds good. We can go fishing.”
Alice was the first to voice her opinion.
“Yeah, true. What about you, Lily?”
“I’d be more useful in the forest. But if magic is effective, then the sea should be fine too. After all, we’re mostly mages.”
If Lily says so, then maybe we should go with that.
“Is the sea okay?”
I checked with the remaining two, Natalia and Annie.
“I’m fine with it.”
“The sea makes my hair and skin sticky… I’ll have to take a bath as soon as we get back.”
One person had a slight complaint, but it didn’t seem like she was against it.
“Kenneth, we’re going to the sea.”
“Understood. Then, please take care of it.”
Having decided on the job, we received a map from Kenneth and left the guild.
Then, after exiting the capital through the eastern gate, we started walking along the highway.
“I hadn’t noticed, but the sea is really close.”
In the distance, though faintly, we could see the sea.
“The fish caught there are delivered to the capital and Celia. You’ve eaten them before.”
Now that you mention it, Alice and I had eaten some when we couldn’t catch anything ourselves.
“Have you been to the sea before?”
“A few times. Alice dragged me along.”
Fishing, huh. Alice really loves fishing, enough to carry a rod with her everywhere.
“Master, should I draw a map? Judging by the accuracy of this one, mine might sell.”
AI-chan offered as she handed me the map we got from Kenneth.
The map looked like a child’s scribble, with only the capital, the road, and the sea drawn, giving no sense of distance.
“Please do.”
“Okay!”
AI-chan responded and began drawing the map.
Of course, Crow-chan was flying overhead.
As we continued walking, we reached the sea in less than an hour.
By the sea, there were a few small huts and a pier with several boats docked. However, there were clearly more carriages than boats, and a large number of people who looked like merchants were gathered there.
“What’s going on over there?”
“…Those are purchasing merchants. The fishermen are out at sea now, but they’re waiting to buy fish from them when they return.”
Alice, who seemed knowledgeable about the sea, explained.
“I see.”
Fish have to be fresh, so I guess they’re waiting to buy them right away.
“…We’re heading this way. There won’t be any monsters over there.”
Alice said, and then she veered off the road to the left, so we followed her.
Soon, we arrived at a sandy beach with a rickety pier. There was also a huge crab wandering around the beach.
“That must be the Big Crab.”
“I think so too!”
Lily raised her hand.
“Yeah, it sure looks like it. And it’s really big!”
Annie stared intently at the Big Crab.
It was indeed about the size of a person. With something that big, it doesn’t exactly look appetizing.

“Hey, Lily, go for it.”
The Big Crab hadn’t noticed us yet, so I urged Lily to take action.
“Alright!”
Lily readied her bow and drew it back. A luminous arrow appeared.
“Take this!”
With a somewhat cheesy battle cry, Lily released the arrow. The distance to the Big Crab was decent, but Lily’s skill ensured that the glowing arrow flew straight, piercing through the Big Crab’s body with crushing force.
The Big Crab flailed around, but its movements gradually slowed until it finally collapsed with a thud.
“Hostile presence eliminated.”
AI-chan made a report while still focused on drawing the map.
“Alright, let’s get the magic stone!”
Lily said as she approached the fallen Big Crab.
“Oh, I’ll help,” Natalia said, following Lily.
“I’m going to look for starfish or shells.”
Annie declared as she dismounted from Koma-chan.
“Are you going to eat them?”
“No, they’re for medicine.”
“Oh, I see.”
I’m not sure what kind of medicine it’s for.
“Koma-chan, follow her.”
I instructed Koma-chan as I watched Annie walk away. Koma-chan immediately followed after her.
“And you? …No need to ask, huh.”
Alice already had her fishing rod in hand.
“…Yuuma, do you want to fish too? Let’s catch lunch.”
“Sounds good.”
Alice and I headed to the pier, sat down, and started fishing.
“When we’re working, we’re usually pretty bored, huh.”
“…That’s how it is.”
Well, I guess it can’t be helped.
